In January 2020, Little Madrid Tapas Café opened in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood, a small, cozy, and colorful space. The restaurant transported guests back to Old Madrid with its warm atmosphere, delicious flavors, and enticing aromas that emanated from the kitchen. With a global pandemic raging around the world, Little Madrid Tapas Café remained a steady presence in the neighborhood and soon emerged as one of the best Spanish restaurants in Chicago.

Went to Little Madrid and they had our reservation with a table by the window as we requested. We were given our menus and asked if we wanted a drink. They now have a wide variety of cocktails, wines, Spanish beer and other spirits. The service is always excellent. It was a very hot summer day so we ordered Salmorejo which is a cold, tomato based soup. It was beautifully presented and delicious. We also ordered Paella Negra and since my brother is allergic to shrimp they made it special without it and just with squid, mussels and tiny shells. Also wonderful. We shared Patatas Bravas and I had meatballs. Exquisite as well. For dessert we had the best cheesecake in the world, which I never have the willpower to refuse and a lemony gelato with cava which was refreshing and tasty. At Little Madrid I feel pampered and like if I’m back in the city I love. Highly recommend. It’s a bit pricey but you pay for quality, great service, a nice setting and amazing food.

Sangria was super watered down. Server had trouble remembering our order. Most dishes were just so-so. We were harassed by a homeless person. Everything seemed over priced. The croquetas and meatballs were really good though.

Food was mediocre and over-priced. The place is furnished with a hodgepodge of unmatched and uncomfortable tables and chairs. When the waiter presented the bill he just told us the total without providing an itemized list of charges. The paella Nero was a platter of burned rice and shellfish that seemed more like shells. The chorizo tasted more like hard salami. Nothing tasted fresh or authentically Spanish, most items had a quality of being a bit off the mark. Overall a disappointing dining experience and we would NEVER return.

Wonderful experience! I have finally found a delicious Spanish restaurant with excellent wine option and mix of dishes for both vegetarian and omnivore palates. Service is amazing, ambiance is warm, and the light jazz background music is perfect for deep conversation whether it’s catching up with friends or on a date. 10/10 will return.

The food was horrible and it was dirty. My wine glass came out dirty and our plates on the table were dirty. Saw other diners also requesting new glasses and plates

It was my first time in little Madrid and I’m sure I will come back . I tried the octopus , croquetas and albóndigas ! Everything was very delicious even the tinto de verano was very good . Everyone there was very kind and friendly . It was a great place to have dinner !!!!

A Gem that Keeps Getting Better! We’ve been coming to this restaurant for years, and it’s been a joy to watch it evolve. Each visit brings something new, yet the welcoming atmosphere and warm, attentive staff always remain consistent. You can tell the team truly cares about creating a great experience—they’re always accommodating and go out of their way to make you feel at home. The recent addition of happy hour has been a game-changer! It’s the perfect way to explore the menu in true tapas and pintxo style—trying a variety of flavors without overcommitting. Every dish is clearly made with love and authenticity, and the variety keeps us coming back for more. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a vibrant, delicious, and friendly Spanish dining experience!

Really bad experience it took 2 hours to get serve almost all the food that we ordered for 2 people. Food taste good honestly it not bad the flavors. I’m from Spain so I can said is original. Honestly the waiter that we had was horrible after get serve the paella and some plates they forgot about us and no apology received for the delay. Thanks to Susi that help out us to get some plates out of the kitchen! But when the bill came they charge a plate that I didn’t received and since I was so frustrated I paid to don’t argue more with this waiter !!! We will see if I will show up again !
