The food was delicious -- we were all quite satisfied with our meals. We ordered two firsts, and we each had a main entree. I had the halibut and the sauce and onions that came with it were superb.
We had oyster, branzino, scallops, fluke, and halibut and each was one of the most perfect examples of that seafood. Flawless food and a cozy/not excessively frilly ambiance for a date or family dinner. I enjoyed watching the chefs do their thing too. We'll definitely be back!
The food was incredible !!! Best seafood I’ve had in a very long time !
We took a friend from San Francisco to Little Fish on Monday Evening. We had not been there in quite some time. We were sorry we hadn't gone back sooner. The food was just outstanding. We had three appetizers: Scallops, octopus and an ahi tuna. All were beautifully prepared and presented. The tuna was the best of the three; a pure taste experience.
There were three fish entrees: a flounder, a mahi mahi and a tile fish. We shared everything and the fish was so fresh and the flavors distinct and bright.
Can't wait to go back again. We want to try the Sunday prix fix.
Service was pleasant and professional. Sharing plates were produced without asking.
If we could think of one criticism, it would be that there were no salad-based appetizers. We love salad and missed that. But this is a small distraction that did not affect the enjoyment of a heavenly meal.
Excellent, fresh seafood. Limited menu, but everything was delicious. Well-paced and attentive service.
Little Fish is one of my favorite restaurants in Philly. The menu changes often but it is always delicious and the service is top notch. And as a BYO it's easier on the pocketbook.
Food was excellent. One of the top two scallop dishes that I've ever had. The fluke was also a bit hit.
Delicious seafood in an intimate atmosphere. BYOB
Love Little Fish. Always fresh. Always delicious. Always new and interesting dishes.
Outstanding service. We went on a Sunday and had the tasting menu. Every dish was amazing! Good find.
Outstanding service and cuisine !
Unfortunately the size and minimalism of the room
means that one larger, noisy and inconsiderate group can ruin the atmosphere for everyone else. That’s what happened to us. Nothing the restaurant can really do about that, but best to be prepared for the possibility.
Amazing appetizers and dinner!
We had an incredible meal last night at the chef’s tasting. It’s our favorite spot in Philadelphia. Always worth the drive in from outside the city. Everything was delicious! Service was great. Good people!
Although the food was very good, the restaurant is not creating an ambiance/ dining experience that is up to par with the price. We had a 9:15 pm dinner reservation, by 10:30 pm or so they turned off the light on us. They didn't even bother to come up and say "excuse me we are closing," the waiter just turned off the lights while we and another table were still there. If you are going to have a seating at 9 pm, you should at least be open long enough for people to enjoy the food and the company. As I said, the food was very good, but the service and ambiance left so much to be desired for. There are so many restaurants in Philly with great food, and that takes into consideration the dining experience, not just the meal. For the same price point, you can go to many better restaurants. I could not say that I would go back or recommend others to go.
Little Fish is our go to restaurant for a great meal whenever we are in town. The food preparation is impeccable and beautiful presentations. If you love fish, you will love it even more here. We've always had amazing meals here. I have a gluten allergy and they personalize my picks so they are safe for me to eat. Never compromised the taste. Service was well timed and always friendly. Wait staff is very knowledgeable about each dish - ingredients and preparation.
I absolutely loved Little Fish and can't wait to go again. This is without a doubt my favorite place in Philly for seafood and one of the three best restaurants I've ever been to in Philly (and I've been to dozens). In my opinion Little Fish had the best quality seafood of anywhere I've ever eaten.
I had the bluefin tuna and my wife had the black bass. Both were done perfectly. We really liked that the restaurant was quiet compared to every other place we have ever been in Philly. It's also great that it's a BYOB so you can bring something you already know you like and not have to take a chance on something you never had before.
I read other reviews where people said the servings were small but we found them to be more than enough if you also have an appetizer. The service was not rushed and the pace was controlled by the kitchen who can see the entire dining room and really knows what the are doing for such a young group of people. The one complaint we had was our waiter who clearly did not know what he was doing. Thankfully the other waiter (a woman) made up for most of his inattentiveness even though she was already giving good service to half the restaurant.
Little Fish may be a special occasion place for many people because it is a more expensive restaurant but the quality of the food makes it worth it. You do need to make reservations well in advance.
The experience made a great birthday celebration fabulous. If you want a cozy dinner where everything is delicious Little Fish is a must eat.
I had hesitated before about this restaurant....no more....food was exceptional. I would recommend the bread to be served warm but after that there wasn't a flaw. The scallop appetizer and the grilled octopus were so good! We both had the black cod entree and they accommodated my lobster allergy with a different sauce for me. Definitely a must try!!
We enjoyed a lovely dinner at Little Fish. The food was delicious and each course was uniquely prepared by the chef. The tables were quite close but we didn’t mind. At the height of the evening, the noise level was a little loud if you are someone who minds that. All the servers were very attentive in pouring our wine and explaining each dish. And the dessert was a great way to finish off the evening.
The food was excellent but I would not recommend (except with a warning) because even in a noisy restaurant world, this place was insanely noisy. I didn't know that so few people could make so much noise. It was hard enough for us as visitors -- I can't imagine what damage it is doing to the staff. Please -- there must be SOMETHING they can do to lessen this bruhaha.
The place is tiny. The service is great. The food was very good. The noise level was high. It was very crowded for such a tiny place. You couldn’t even hear yourself talk no less those you were dining with.
There was an error. I did not intend to make a reservation for this night so I did not attend on this night. But little fish is absolutely outstanding.
Wonderful! Best meal I’ve had in years.
Excellent fresh fish and seafood, creatively and expertly prepared. Friendly staff. Great dessert too. Sadly, the weak dishwasher coffee stood out as a detractor from an otherwise perfect meal.
SF food snob
Tasting menu was delicious just wish there was a little more food. Since I reserved the 5:30 seating, I was hungry again by 9 p.m., so one more small course would have been preferred. But the pricing is decent for a tasting menu, and the food was delicious, so I wasn't disappointed. However, the one downside was I already had an Open Table giftcard specifically for Little Fish and they wouldn't accept it. I booked the restaurant specifically because of the giftcard (it was only $25), and I think until the restaurant resolves their issues with the website and blocks the purchase of such giftcards, they should at least honor it out of good customer service. Not our server's fault, just think it's an issue with restaurant policy.
The best fish the seven people in our party have had in many many years. The raw oysters were excellent
Always, always great
Little Fish lived up to the hype! Each dish was delectable. I highly recommend coming on a date and sharing a few dishes together. The BYO aspect allows you to focus on the food.
This is consistently the best restaurant in Philadelphia. I dine out 7 nights a week and have been to over 350 local establishments and this is my favorite. The chef creates the most amazing sauces and light broths that are unique to each dish, and I try to save some bread to mop up every drop. The light mustard sauce with the Branzino appetizer is amazing and is, alone, worth the trip. I typically order multiple small bites and appetizers so we can share and taste as many dishes as possible. The dish compositions are different from those found in more traditional restaurants (parmesan shavings on scallops) and, coupled with the sauces, make me feel like I am in a food network show. This place is special and the dishes are consistently outstanding.
Caveat - this is a fish restaurant and they only serve fish and seafood. Don't expect a steak or a vegan dish.
We had three different types of white fish, a more varied menu would have been nice.
The food was very tasty. Got seated as soon as we get to the restaurant. The service is good Overall, very cute spot.
The scallop dish was so delicious we ordered one for dessert!
Small portions. A little pricey. That being said, every bite exquisite. Incredibly fresh fish, beautiful presentations, perfect flavor combinations. Extraordinary meal.
A fabulous meal again; the tuna was incredible as was the calamari, first course. Love the quality and ambiance always.
Always delicious fish with wonderful preparation and sauces.
The food was fresh and delicious.
Amazing food and amazing service!
