Little Fish is a small restaurant that serves very delicious seafood. The food is imaginative but not bizarre. Pricey but worth it. The kitchen is in the same room with the diners which is really fun if you like to cook. Attractive modest space in Bella Vista.
One of the best restaurants in the city. Everything... food, service, ambiance is superb. We ate outside (just two tables outside). Every dish was expertly prepared and amazing.. .so delicious and perfectly prepared.
Please don’t go there too often so we can get reservations. Fully booked so fast 😄😋
This is a super small, super cute neighborhood spot, with ever-changing seasonal menu and extremely well prepared, fresh fish, of course. The menu is also small, but everything is great. Friendly, non pretentious staff.
Fantastic food!! Very creative, small, personal menu - changes daily. Good for adventurous eaters with some more comfortable options as well! BYOB! :)
One of the best restaurants in the city. The fish is outstanding. The service is impeccable.
We were favorably impressed with the freshness of the fish and the one-two punch of (1) rich umami and (2) intriguing flavors. Three categories on the menu: "small bites" (bigger than an amuse, smaller than an appetizer), "first" (biggish appetizer), and "second" (entree). The "small" and "first" cost about the same so we didn't try the "small" to get more bang for the buck. Our favorite dish was the "first" octopus, extremely tender. We also liked the black bass (with a sauce called "sweet and sour" but more accurately "sweet and spicy"). My "second" of fluke was also good; her "second" of monkfish was by no means bad but not as interesting as the other dishes. For dessert, "strawberries and ice cream" -- simply in concept but very well done (flavorful strawberry jam as well as fresh strawberries). We were seated early (6pm on a Saturday) and the place was nearly empty and therefore easy to converse, but it started to fill up by 7:30 and it got louder. Great service (they were constantly filling our wine and water glasses).
I usually love LF. This time I found the food expensive, the portions bite-sized, and the dishes only so-so. Couple that with some poor direction from the waitress and Voila, not such a great review. Sorry LF, I still love ya!
Little Fish once again serves the best seafood around - beautifully, artfully, and imaginatively prepared without being overly fussy with frills. Everything was delicious including the shrip and the tuna. Homey setting in a tiny, welcoming space.
Phenomenal seafood spot. The scallop dish we had was probably the best scallops I've had in my life. Pricy but worth it if you're looking for a truly great seafood dinner.
I still believe this is the best fish restaurant in Philly after many years. The Sunday prix fix special is exceptional and, occasionally, adventurous. Book ahead; Sunday is usually a capacity crowd which leads to my only criticism: the noise level is too high. The fish is well matched with the sauces and some of the usually stronger tasting and oilier fish, Hamachi and Salmon, had a delicate taste. This leads to my second criticism or rather a plea. This doesn't involve the restaurant but the customers. Most people brought strong red wines, including some Italian wines more suitable to a high acid sauce. I recognize that I have a tendency to be a wine snob and, yes, you should drink something you like but these full bodied reds mask the subtle taste of the fish. Try a Chablis, a Pouilly Fuisse, a white Graves or even a Pinot Noir if you want a red wine.
We absolutely loved the food, the presentation of plates and the service. I took my fiancé here for his 40th birthday and we are both foodies. We stayed there for 2 hours and enjoyed every bite. Thanks again for making our evening so memorable!
Fantastic food. Best fish I have ever had. Definitely a hidden gem that should be talked about.
The food was well prepared. Excellent service but I have a problem with dinner for 2 with no alcohol 150 with tip and left alittle hungry
Excellent dining experience. Hostess and waitress were very attentive. The scallops and halibut were the vest I've ever had.
The octopus was amazing
My husband and I went for an anniversary dinner and decided to try the tasting menu. The restaurant is small, casual and cozy, which was nice. This restaurant came very highly recommended by both friends and reviews, so we were really looking forward to our meal. The waiter asked if we would like tap or sparking water, and that was the last time they seemed to care what we thought or needed. The food was placed before us assembly line style. Some dishes were rather good, some were really fair, including the bland overcooked fish we were served as our main meal. In the end, we were presented with a check without anyone even inquiring if we would like coffee or tea, or if we enjoyed our meal. This was not the romantic meal we were hoping for at all, but perhaps we caught them on a bad night.
Every plate will make your taste buds go crazy, the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable of the food they have on the menu. It was well worth the trip down to the city to eat at Little Fish! Will definitely be going back there again!
Thank you to Chef Yoon for an excellent meal as always and to the staff who was pleasant and attentive. We were a party of 3 and ordered the whole menu--literally! We enjoyed every bite! This is a limited menu with lots of seafood. A great place if you love seafood! We love the simplicity of the menu which is executed to a high degree both in presentation and flavor. Well worth every penny!
— we liked it.
I took my wife out to this place for her birthday dinner and it was perfect ! An intimate and romantic place , yet not uptight or stuffy ! The food was cooked to perfection and the portion size was perfect ! I am not an expert on fish , but the quality and the flavor combinations was spot on ! The dessert was a mint ice cream family with blueberry jam and fresh blueberries with toasted Hazelnuts, which was divine ! The staff is very efficient and helpful ! Perfection in simplicity !
Fabulous gem of a restaurant for those who know and appreciate seafood. I am a professionally trained chef and so was my dining companion. We both agreed it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. Highly recommend.
The place is tiny, but that can easily be overlooked because you will be so distracted by the food.
Absolutely incredible! I can't wait to go back. Food was incredible. Service was great. Awesome dining experience.
Best fish in town, awesome experience, love to go there
Everything was wonderful. Service was great and got to watch the chef make everything in front of you.
As always a great meal in an intimate setting.
I love Little Fish. It is a small BYOB (lucky for me just 2 blocks from my house). Everything they make tastes fantastic. They are very nice and helpful. I recommend it very highly to anyone who loves fish. Every single preparation is wonderful!
The fish is amazing. The place is pretty small and they were playing theater tunes over the stereo. If the weather had been nice and we could have sat outside I bet we would have had a different experience, but as it was, the ambience really cramped the experience.
Little Fish is very good; sometimes it is very, very good. Our latest experience of Little Fish was very, very good and we ate everything. We literally ordered at least one of the menu items and in some cases multiples. The multiples were the oysters--no good way to split one raw oyster three ways--and the small bites aji plate. The service was not quite up to par but it was a Tuesday and perhaps unexpectedly crowded with every seat filled and only one full time server. I say only one full time server since one person ran the plates and got the orders and another fellow stood around without helping much.
Anyway--I want to go again and soon.
Cozy neighborhood restaurant with fresh menu as it changes with what is in season especially with what is accompanied with the fish. Love the variety of fish options.
It’s a BYOB so don’t forget that bottle of wine.
Fabulous. The parade of five stars is correct. This place prepares fish beautifully. I had sturgeon, my wife, halibut. Both were wonderful, as we're their creative accompanyments...braised fennel with mine, ramps with hers. Also had the scallops as an app. Declcious!
One word: divine. If you love top-notch seafood, this is the place to go in Philadelphia. Delectable cuisine, tucked away in Bella Vista, unforgettable experience.
Excellent fish dishes of every variety, raw, cooked, wonderfully parepared and good selection. Great service. Cozy ambience.
Little Fish has the best seafood. Everydish is a parade of flavors- starts out with one flavor...then moving on to the next...and then another. I love coming and just getting 2 of everything and sharing every dish. Everydish....including the
Bread... follows this pattern. It is like no place else. Even if you don't like fish, it's amazing!
We went here for our anniversary, it was a Sunday, so we could get their five course tasting menu. The food was absolutely amazing. The fish was very fresh and was the highlight of four of the courses. It's a BYOB, so don't forget to bring your own Champagne for celebrations(don't worry they have Champagne flutes).
We attended the Chef’s Tasting 5 course seating on Sunday evening. The courses were beautifully presented and tasted delicious.
The wait staff was attentive and described each course as it was served to each of the tables.
The courses were well paced between one another.
It was a great way to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. We would definitely return.
Outstanding seafood. Delicious fish dishes. Sea bass with seafood melody was excellent. Bread could be improved. Scallops were perfectly seared and seasoned.
This small restaurant is literally a gem. The food is always surprising and delicious.
There is a clear reason why this restaurant is rated so well. It is simply amazing. The small venue BYOB option allows for flexibility and for the restaurant to invest in quality supplies and nuanced taste profiles. Can't wait to go back.
The fish is incredible here. Very inventive pairings as well.
