We had an excellent meal. Great beer and food. We would definitely go again
Good food, service and ambiance.
Great service and even better food!! Excited to go again!
Prompt sevice and great food considering how busy it was (I strongly recommend making reservations). It was a little loud but not impossible to hold a conversation. We wish they had "slings" for infant carriers. I've recommended the place already to several friends.
The German food was really good. The 2-top tables are not in great spots- really in traffic aisles. Other than that, it was a great experience.
We really enjoyed the food, beer and cocktails. And, Seth, our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful.
Such a dismal experience. We arrived about 6:00, and, for some reason, someone cranked UP the music, where it stayed for the rest of the evening. The waiter was literally having to yell, as were we. How ludicrous.
After dropping off the food, the waiter never checked back. There were long gaps where we never saw him, and drinks went empty. Getting the check took forever, as did getting it back once we paid. One of us asked for a new napkin, and it took 20 MINUTES before the waiter returned with it. This place always has tables available, even on Friday and Saturday nights, and I now know why.
We were kind of on a tight schedule and the dessert we wanted supposedly took awhile to prepare so we went ahead and order our whole meal, including dessert, at the beginning of the meal. I made sure to say I didn't want the dessert first. The dessert came out before any of our food, and no one did anything to correct the issue. Therefore, I had to eat it first in order to not waste my money.
Our waitress Dae was super sweet and knowledgeable about the menu. Our food was delicious! The brussel sprouts blew our mind and the beer was so yummy.
Ordered the pretzel appetizer and noticed it was different than it used to be. We preferred the prior presentation when sharing as a group (less group touching each other’s food).
Absolutely loved the schnitzel dinner! The Rouladen was delicious almost as good as grandma’s.
Husband said the Honest Weight Liter was very good.
We have visited the Liter House on numerous occasions, and each time we have been bothered by the volume of the music. At times it is very difficult to carry on a conversation without yelling. Please turn it down, music should be kept in the background, not made a competition for food & conversation. Thanks!
We loved our first trip to the Liter House and will definitely be back. Brunch was delicious and the staff was friendly and accommodating for our large group with kids.
The food is always delicious and tastes fresh. The fried brussel sprouts are outstanding. I like the Bavariana menu best so far, but the Raclette Burger was very tasty regardless.
Had a lovely Valentine’s Day dinner at The Liter House. The beer selections were great and the waiter was helpful with making selections. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was fantastic as were the chopped salad and German potato salad. Everyone enjoyed their selections and we even tried dessert- don’t miss the decadent German chocolate cake!
Had dinner before a Butler basketball game, food, beer and service was great. The best part was they were playing Led Zepplin Physical Graffit album beginning to end at a nice level to hear clearly. Great change for a nice restaurant, will be back soon!
Was really nice to take my husband out for his birthday here. Different ethnic food which is awesome and there was something for everyone ! Only recommendation : I mentioned it was my husbands 50th birthday. I wish they’d offer a free desert ... they didn’t
Great food good service nice atmosphere. Has a parking lot
Interesting and tasty food. Accommodating staff - I've been there with a group of 8 including 2 hungry children for brunch, a group of 3 for lunch, a group of 6 women for drinks and dinner.
Great experience every time!
Fun place for dinner and drinks. Menu has a nice selection of German fare, but also includes other American choices.
Liter House is such a fun place. Love that there is parking. Wide variety of food. Great place.
Food was great, atmosphere was neat but the service wasn't great. They were short staffed so we waited a while to be helped and hard to get drunk refills etc overall we would return
Wonderful brunch! Yummy, Yummy, Yummy! Highly recommend.
Went as part of Devour. Food was delicious. Bethany was awesome and attentive. Neat space.
We had the WORST server. He interrupted us 7 times for our order when it was clear we were not in a rush and told him as much.
Our wine was warm and the server couldn’t give any advice on the wine....because he doesn’t drink it.
I was told that they wouldn’t cook my food to the temperature I asked for bc the kitchen wouldn’t accommodate. Last time I checked medium well is not a bizarre request.
While the food was tasty, the service was so poor, it ruined our experience.
german chocolate cake was OUTSTANDING. WOW. I'll go back just for that!
We tried the Devour Indy menu and it was delicious as were their crafty cocktails. Service was fantastic. Our server really knew the drinks and menu.
Delightful place, love that there was more than adequate parking, booths and tables were surprisingly spacious (not sitting on top of each other). 3 of us ordered from the special, prix fixe Devour Indy menu. Portions were massive. I picked a new menu item, the Cabbage Roll, which I would not recommend (and I’ll leave it at that). My dinner companions both ordered versions of sausage platters (the Bratwurst platter & the interesting & better than is sounds - but def not traditional German food - Currywurst), which were very tasty. We went early, so the place was not loud & service was great. I’d go back (but I would not get the cabbage)!
Be forewarned that ONLY brunch items are available Sunday until later in the afternoon. We were seated at 12:30 and were surprised we couldn’t order what we’d planned on Service was slow. Although our server was gracious, he was stretched too thin, working behind the bar as well as managing several tables of diners. Overall, a nice experience, however.
This is one of my favorite places to go for dinner. The beer that you can get in liters is worth it in its own sense.
Fantastic, kind staff. I had the worst fish and chips I have ever been served.
A part of the Amazing Sahms family of restaurants with a German flair and craft beer in SoBro. What more do you want? Other than shortage of parking, everything else is great.
My husband and I are die hard Big Lug regulars, but decided to branch out on our way downtown to the symphony (highly recommend the arts in Indianapolis! Truly amazing). Brussel sprouts were amazing. Beer is always fantastic and service was attentive and friendly. Thank you! The only item we ordered that we did not finish were the Spatzle. Sadly they lacked flavor were and were over oiled. They needed to be a more dense “egg noodle” flavor and weight to have the hardy traditional texture and taste. Never the less, my husband and I enjoyed ourselves and will return in the near future! Thank you Eddie and crew! Always a great experience with the Sahm’s family restaurants.
Second time there for brunch. Almost ordered another meal to go. Great atmosphere, generous portions, terrific service - and easy parking. Will definitely go back. Want to try their bar in the back, too!
Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without being overbearing. The food was excellent, and the menu is interesting with wonderful choices for children and adults. There are plenty of dishes inspired by Bavaria, and plenty of dishes that are just unique and fun to try out. The server was able to recommend drinks as well as food and was spot on with everything. The food came out quickly and tasted delicious. We will be back!
We liked the spacious dining room. The food was delicious & our server Terrence was helpful in our food and drink selections. We will definitely return.
Liter house has a some traditional fare, as well a a few German Street food dishes. The Street Side Currywurst is delicious.
We were first time diners and were treated to great food with great service! The HUGE PRETZEL to start with was fantastic! The Brews were definitely great and our meals were hot and fresh and delicious! Well done Liter House!
Service was great! Our first time and I think we will be back. Wasn’t sure what to expect, so I went in with expectations. Was pleasantly surprised by the German feel. Had a good time!
Really enjoyed the food and drinks at Liter House. Their fresh takes on traditional dishes makes for a nice change of pace. We tried the schnitzel and the brat plate. Everything was great but the german potato salad is really outstanding!
We will absolutely be back! Fun, laid back atmosphere. All four of us got something different to eat and everyone loved what they ordered. Unfortunately it was really cold when we went, but we would love to come back in the summer because the outdoor portion looks like it would be really fun.
