Great beer selection and very tasty German food, attentive and knowledgeable staff
I love this place but our service was today was not the best.
It took almost 45 min . before we got our drinks.
Really enjoyed our first trip to the Liter House! Food and service were very good.
We chose due to allergy friendly statement on website under FAQ. Server notified us of nuts in the kitchen and "can't guarantee", which we felt website was sort of misleading. Restaurant should decide if it really does want to cater and have a separate line for allergy friendly food or not and put appropriate language on website. "Best effort" is not OK for peanut allergies. Overall food and beer were just OK. Not bad, but pretzel appetizer special was served cool. Brewery was out of Oktoberfest... maybe that's appropriate for first week in November. Food portions were pricey for quality of food, but sensed the restaurant tried to compensate by making huge plates. "French Onion" soup didn't scratch the "French Onion" itch, but still was OK. Final summery... nothing was bad but nothing overwhelmed except the quantity of food.
This was an outstanding experience. We got our 10 seated promptly. We had tons of drinks, food, and fun times. I would highly recommend the cider. It was great. Thanks for a great time, I can't wait to go back!
This place is superb! As a brew pub, I was expecting re-heated or deep-fried food. The food was all fresh and delicious and very well-prepared! I was also impressed with all of the fresh locally-sourced ingredients! I highly recommend this to anyone looking for fresh food with a unique and tasty menu
Had a great meal and the beer was very nice. James took good care of us!
All the food was wonderful and the in-house-made desserts were out of this world good.
Great restaurant! Excellent food, amazing service and a great vibe. Very family friendly! Definitely check this place out!
We had a great experience. When I was not happy with my entree, the server offered to replace it with something else. I did so and the replacement dish was excellent. The beer was very good as well.
We will absolutely go back.
Great German food and there is something on the menu for everyone. The beer was delicious also. It was a little loud (poor acoustics/sound proofing?) and was hard to hear our table conversation. Overall I would definitely recommend it and we will be back when we’re in the mood for German food or some good beer. :)
Delicious food, plentiful servings, excellent service. What’s not to like?
The menu was very interesting and it had lots of choices, food-wise and price-wise as well. The food was very good -- flavorful and good as leftovers.Yes, I took the rest of my dinner home. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly - checked in but in a good way. I loved that I could taste a couple of the beers before I ordered and my selection was very good. I have already told my co-workers about Liter House and will definitely go back!
We had such a nice dinner at Liter House. Food was wonderful and service was spot on. Good beer, good food, can’t go wrong.
Food was fantastic and service was awsome. I could not decide and waiter gave me information on both dishes so I could make my choice.
Food portions were plentiful and very good. Service was fast with a very pleasant waitress. Will definitely come back.
First time there. Great food, service and beer. If you are a German foodie, this is the place for you.
Food was excellent - everything was so fresh and cooked perfectly. Our server was awesome - explained the menu and quickly answered any questions we had. She did not rush us at all. It was like we were her only customers!
Great choice for Devour Indy Summer 2019. Cioppino and Bratwurst platter were entreé choices, with pretze appetizerl and bread pudding dessert. Sahm's restaurants have never disappointed me for food selection and value. 100% satisfaction!
Liter House is awesome. Unique flavors, fun atmosphere, and outstanding service!
Would be a fun place with a group. Food was ok. Good beers. Good prices.
They were out of the entree my wife wanted, which was the main reason we went after a preview of their menu. Beer was not cold. My entree of bratwurst was below average. Service was also below average. Other "German" style restaurants in town are much better, see Rathskeller. I wanted to like it but will probably not go back.
We celebrated a birthday there. We were in the dining area as we had a toddler with us. The pretzel appetizer was wonderful. I had the CHEESY VEG SPAETZLE. This was very cheesy and just what I wanted. I also tried the Tomato and Peach salad. Sounded weird at first but the taste was great. This is a big salad so I would suggest you share this creation. OMG the beer mugs are HUGE. There was a very good selection of beer for all that were at our table. We have already started planning our next trip.
We could smell the barbeque in the back and we plan on going for this next time. Highly recommend!!!
This is such a gem in the heart of the city and the food is exceptional. Highly recommend and will definitely be going back!
One of our favorite items on the menu was the chicken schnitzel...and we were devastated to find it was no longer available. As we don't eat pork products, the number of options available to us, without modifications, is now much more limited. Sad to say, we won't be back unless there is menu change to add non--pork items back.
The food was very good, but according to one of my German friends dining with me, not very authentic. Service was good. The only big negative is the parking, it is very limited, so get there early and plan on parking on a nearby street. Note that this review is for the Liter House, not Half Liter, although the parking situation is still the same.
We ate here for a group family dinner (11 people and a baby). We could all hear each other, and the food was incredible. Don’t be deterred by unusual choices on the menu - everything is delicious. The pretzels are the best we have had anywhere.
Excellent staff and food!
The most amazing Food, place and service! We are going back tomorrow Sunday for brunch, we liked it so much! The cocktails were great and the beer? OMG! Amazing!
Great food and cider selection.
Place was great! Looking forward to trying BBQ place in the back.
Fun atmosphere with great food, drink, and service.
Good food and service. Loved the schnitzel and spaetzle. Nice free parking
I would, but I can’t tell how disappointed we were with the change in menus. The food we had was excellent-absolutely no complaints there. Everyone was pleased w the taste. But we brought family who live in Germany and they had been so looking forward to the wonderful big menu of German Foods you had, and it has been significantly pared back. The spaetzle was very tasty- but it was more of a risotto. The former menu was unique.
Excellent service, amazing food!
My wife and I shared a plate of the Bratwurst - there were two good sized ones. I was disappointed that there was no sauerkraut included. Brats with kraut is like cereal with milk, a no brainer. Also, we wanted to eat ours on a bun, like we usually do at home or at the State Fair. We had to ask for bread separately.
It all tasted good, just not quite what we were expecting. The beer was very good, I might add.
Delicious food, terrific service, and creative cocktails!!!
Great food and service! Love the variety of food on the menu.
Food was great this time, our waitress could’ve been a little less annoyed I guess. Not sure what her issue was but it made for a sort of uncomfortable experience. We thought we could mix Half Liter with Liter House for food but apparently not. Also LH has a bad shipment of chicken so there was NO chicken dishes available. I think that should’ve been made apparent before we were even sat. We made do with portobella dishes and they were both superb but my husband ordered HL to go.
Also she made it a point to tell us several times that Warhead beer is not available anymore, and never will be again, not that I care about the beer, it was her overbearing tone. We didn’t even ask for beer. Idk maybe that’s just her way of explaining things but as a customer it was very off putting. In hindsight, we should’ve just gone to HL. I’m wondering why LH wasn’t very full but HL was packed. Better service maybe? Not sure but that’s where we’ll go next time. If we want German cuisine we’ll just order it to go.
