Lisbon Portuguese Cuisine Ratings and Reviews
I had an enjoyable business dinner at Lisbon. The wait staff was attentive and informative regarding menu items and wines. The cod was tasty but boney. My companion had the pork and really liked it. The restaurant seems well-run, it was quiet so we could talk, and the menu had a good variety. I'd go back.
Way too much cod...some of the plates were unattractive. Not any inventive flavors. The octopus was good but the other 3 plates were not seasoned well. One was full of so many bones in the fish it was inedible. When the manager was informed he just knodded and walked away.
Not advising anyone I know to visit.
Food was really good, enjoyed the atmosphere, but when asking the waiter for his real opinions on wine maybe suggesting both the most expensive bottle in both red and white isn’t the best idea. It comes off annoying like you’re not making a suggestion from opinion about the wine, but from a point to want to make money! Also, circling the word TIP on the receipt is ridiculous. Yes, we’re in our early 30’s, but we’re aware of common dining out practices.
I'm from NJ where we have a lot of good Portuguese restaurants and am also of Portguese decent. I wasn't expecting an authentic Portuguese restaurant. Was I in for a surprise It was like being home. Everyone was warm and friendly and the food tasted home cooked!
I have told everyone I have run into in the area that they need to go!!! What a hidden little gem!
Lisbon is just to the right of Tapa Toro on I-Drive near The Eye. My family went for my husband's 53rd birthday on a Sunday at 5 pm. We were the only ones there which is sad because we really enjoyed our experience. If you've never had Portuguese food, it is NOT like Caribbean food. Not spicy at all; more like steak and potatoes. Very simple, but tasty. You have to get the Brandy-flambé Portuguese sausage if you're with a group. It comes on fire in a terra cotta pig. We also had the cheese platter with two types of Portuguese cheeses, olives, and shaved ham or pork. The waitress chose a Portuguese red wine for us which was great! My son had the traditional Portuguese sandwich, my daughter-in-law had the grilled chicken, my husband had the smaller steak that comes with an egg on top, and I had the lamb chops with mashed potatoes (the best mashed potatoes I've had since...mine!) Most entrées come with white rice and fries, but I'm sure they had other options. For dessert we had the flan (not egg-tasting) & the traditional egg custard tarts. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed everything! I would hate for this place to go under for lack of customers, so check out the online sites that show photos and head over to I-Drive. The only negative was the parking garage walk. Valet parking is free but you still have to walk a bit. I believe they open up the streets during certain hours and you can valet at the entrance to the restaurant. Also, finding their menu online is a challenge, but can be accomplished. I know you know how...Nothing fancy inside except some Portuguese blue and white tiles but that just means you don't have to dress up.
The cuisine is not really Portuguese (at least not a mainland Portugese) as we just came home after spending 2 weeks in Portugal.
We asked for a soft battery Portuguese cheese as an appetizer.
The server suggested a cheese and meet platter, where the cheese was primitive, cut in cubes, and definitely not soft.
More that that, we were brought the main course when we were still in the middle of the appetizer. It felt they were trying to make sure we get out of there ASAP despite the fact we made the reservation for 7PM on Friday.
I asked for the Dauro wine, which is widely available and the best in Portugal.
We were offered a Dory wine that had nothing to do with what we asked for.
Being spoiled by great food and wine in our neck of the woods by Old Lisbon restaurants in Miami and Sunny Isles we expected much more from this one.
We were visiting Orlando. My wife and I were looking for something different to dine. Found this place in Open Table and decided to give it a try.
We arrived at the restaurant a bit late. There were not too many tables occupied, maybe 3 at that time. The waitress was from Portugal and was amazing. She made us feel welcome and gave us wine a food suggestions. My wife asked for a bottle of wine. They brought us this Vino Tinto "Casa de Santar" a Portuguese wine. It was excellent, a bit over priced for the ambient.
We ordered a seafood platter and a octopus salad... this last one was one of the best we had anywhere. So the food and service was great and this is a place a would come back again. Price was reasonable for the food. The wine I think it was a little overpriced.
I can't grade the quietness of the restaurant as there were only a couple of tables occupied and it was late already.
I definitely would recommend this restaurant. Very friendly people and great food.
