   Best Haitian Food in the city. The owner is so nice and accommodating. The waitress was amazing. The food is always good.

   We all loved our respective dishes. The appetizer, pate, was good. Not as thick as I know for Haitian pate to be but delicious. The portions were healthy. The ambiance was good. Haitian music was a nice touch. The corking fee is a little high $10 for wine $20 for other liquor but that is my only complaint.

   With reservations it took over 2 hours to be able to order food. The food when it did arrive was great, I would definitely recommend this establishment and will definitely visit again but what happened on Valentine’s Day 2025 can never happen again. The staff was very apologetic and accommodating but something failed horribly behind the scenes and I would hate for anyone to experience it especially on my recommendation. The snapper skin was crispy and the meat was still juicy, cooked to perfection. The sauce on it with the vegetables puts you in the mind state of escovitch, great seasoning but very little spice. The cabbage, mushroom rice, mac & cheese, and corn soufflé were excellent compliments to meal. Everything is mouthwatering good compliments to the chef! Please try this establishment out and try to be patient if you run into some hiccups like I did, you won’t regret it.

   Gave them an hour and a half as we could see they were busy. No food. Poor communication. The hostess was nice enough but overall, they were not ready for their own reservations. Something behind the scenes isn’t working well. I won’t return because nothing about my first attempt was worth me giving them another try. Oh and it’s BYOB but it took them 40 min to provide the cork screw. Then they handed ME the wine to uncork.

   I made it to my appointment. The door was locked so I called the restaurant to find out why their doors weren't open. I got in touch with someone working inside and I was informed they're only doing take out and no dine in. I was upset and was about to leave when I saw one of the employees open the door and started putting decorations outside. I called the restaurant again and this time, the owner came to the phone. I explained what his employee told me and he insisted his restaurant was open. Customer service is everything and the lack of customer service I received was the reason I decided to not go inside.

   After waiting over an hour after ordering we were told some items weren’t available. When the food finally came some of it was cold. The ox tails were extremely salty and looked like they were from last week. Didn’t have the time or the patience to wait another hour for them to fix something else so we ended up paying for two inedible meals. This was my fourth visit and the first three were fine but today was so horrible that I’ll never go back.

   My second experience at Lior's Cafe is the same as the first Excellent environment, excellent wait time to be seated and served, excellent wait time for food arrival, excellent food quality, definitely excellent customer services provided by the hostess, wait staff, manager and Chef. I will make a third reservation when I return to Chicago again.

   The food was delicious me and my date had the oxtails and the red snapper there was nothing on our table that we did not comment or say this is delicious if you're looking for a different taste from a different nationality Haiti food. Hands down don't miss out

    My party and I had a reservation for 12/1/24 at noon. When we arrived the gates and doors were closed. We waited outside for at least 30 minutes. Another couple had come and waited as well. We called multiple times and even left a voicemail. Today is Wednesday and we still haven’t received a call back. I knocked on the kitchen door where I could hear people talking. No one acknowledged that they were supposed to be open for business at noon according to their website and our reservation. We paid a deposit to secure the reservation and we have not received our money back.
