   Took my wife and family here last night for her birthday and had a great dinner. My 11 year old son ordered the 8oz filet medium rare and thought he would just eat half and share the rest, but he ate it all himself. He said it was better than Born & Raised.

   Food and server were GREAT! Was disappointed that we were put in the front of the restaurant next to the bar and the open front door with an empty restaurant. When I asked to sit away from the cold, open door, was told that was the only option. I asked about the empty back section with one table seated, I was told it would be at least 15minutes. Confusing to say the least… many groups were seated there following us, including multiple groups of 4.

   My wife and I stayed at the Pendry and decided to hit the easy button the first night and try Lionfish. The ambiance is great: the interior design of the restaurant is great and the vibe is nice. The service was ok: we had a reservation yet still had to wait a few minutes to be seated, and in general they were slow. That said, everyone was very nice, and they were understanding when we weren't satisfied (more on that in a bit) and so that made up for some of that. The food? OK. We tried the Crispy Rock Fish as a app; it wasn't good. Tasted like it was smothered in Frank's Red Hot. The server was apologetic, the host told us it hadn't be made correctly, and they removed it from our bill. I had the Big Eye Nigiri flight, it was OK. My wife had the Specialty “King” Salmon Sashimi, she liked it. My Dante's Peak cocktail was good. Finally, we both had the Cafecito Churro and thought it was the best part of our visit. Overall, our experience was the definition of "good". Might be worth it for the ease if you're staying at the Pendry or nearby, or for the ambiance & drinks, but being in the Gaslamp quarter, there are so many options and it didn't really stand out.

   One of the best meals I have ever had. The octopus appetizer was amazing. The two sushi rolls were delicious, and the dessert was one of the most incredible I've ever had. All of that in a great location and very cool setting. This restaurant is worth another trip to SD all on its own.

   The Maris is Al Fuego came to the table totally al fuego. Scallop shells surrounded a flaming pile of salt and pebbles. At first we were not sure if we should let the flames die down, but as they showed no tendency to burn out, we blew out the fire. After that the scallops and shrimp were delectable. Sword fish Al pastor was delicious but a little cold. We got Brussels and squash to share. The sprouts could have been more tender but the char and goat cheese with the vinaigrette were delicious. Our waiter was terrific, knowledgeable and attentive. She apologized for the ear splitting volume, but helped us turn the table around so we could sit side by side and hold a conversation over dinner. Wine selection was nice. The unusual menu and beautiful decor made Lionfish worth the visit.

   They went above and beyond! We celebrated my best friends birthday and they brought us a little cake it was so sweet! We ordered tuna pizza rock shrimp oysters and surf and turf roll all of it was absolutely delicious! 10/10

    This was our first time here. Parking is difficult, but if you get a spot, this restaurant is worth it. We started out our meal with the Wagu Beef Tataki. This was delicious. The Specialty “King” Salmon Sashimi was delicious but the portion was small for the price. The Lamb Lollipop Anticucho was flavorful but slightly over cooked. The Spaghetti Lobster “Homard” was delicious. The pasta and lobster were cooked perfectly and the creamy sauce was amazing! I would definitely order it and the Beef Tataki again. Overall, the food pricy but delicious. Great service! Great place for a date night. The Lemon Meringue Crepe Cake was amazing! The perfect ending!

    Made reservations yet got the worst table. We asked to be moved and initially got an explanation of how the seats we had was not bar seating and was part of the dining area. I just stared at the receptionist so dumbfounded. She said she needed to check what was available (the restaurant was more than half empty). She sat us at a different table. We ordered one drink and they said they might be out than came back to say we were in luck because it was the last one. Ordered the chicken waffles (nothing special, had better for way less than half their price), crispy rock shrimp (definitely not worth the price, good but not that good), tomahawk steak (a little on the salty side), a dozen oysters and sushi rolls. When we got all of our food the waiter said they found a couple more of the drink we ordered. Coincidence or did they not think we were going to order that much food? Disappointed in the service and would not recommend wasting your money on this overpriced mediocre restaurant.

    We frequent the downtown San Diego area often and knew that the Pendry Hotel has been open for quite some time now, but we finally decided to explore Lionfish on Friday. Absolutely amazing food! And Kelli our server was outstanding. This is not your normal run-of-the-mill seafood joint. They have a lot of unique preparations that you won't find anywhere else. Really cool place to eat.

    Overpriced. Slow service. Brussel sprouts were super salty. Surf and turf roll was too expensive. Maniac roll was fishy and the tajin was over powering. Will not return.

    I had 3 of the best items I’m sure they have. Be sure to start out with the squash soup, simply amazing. From there add in you favorite sushi, I went Berzerk. But don’t stop, add to that the roasted brussel sprouts and squash for a perfect meal.

    Thursday happy hour with my girlfriend, first timers, thoroughly enjoyed everything. Dozen fresh oysters, steak tataki, grilled octopus, kamehameha sushi roll, and monstrous baked Alaska for dessert. 3 glasses of wine, a cocktail and a 300ml unfiltered sake (all sake half off on Thursdays) all for under $200. Warm, friendly knowledgeable server, hosts and support staff. We’ll be back!

    The food was prepared in gourmet presentation, but the pork chop I had was dry and my wife's fish had not been deboned. There was a lot of bone and eating in a very dim lit place was kind of feel and careful, so it was no fun eating. We just boxed it up and took home. The place was loud so not a good place to go if you want to have a bit of peaceful dinner. Finally, everything was expensive, and I had expected that. But if you're on a budget, this is not the place.

    The food and drinks were delicious. The service was good. The only downside was the cost of parking at the hotel where the restaurant is located. It was shockingly expensive. We felt ripped off. The restaurant should really make an arrangement with the hotel so that parking for diners is free.

    Although quality of food, location, ambience and value are good, the service of Juan Carlos and the rest of the servers were the differentiator that will make us come back. Typically speaking, San Diego restaurants, have poor customer service all the way from the fancy, Flemings, which I recommend to avoid, to the hole in the wall restaurant. Emotionless hostess, servers that see dirty plates and do not pick them up because they think that’s below their pay grade, slow in action, sometimes arrogant, leaning towards their time, and not to the needs of the customer. Well, Lionfish has done a pretty good job, at least that’s what we saw in Juan Carlos and the rest of the service, to be different among their competitors in the region. Finally, I would recommend management to pay close attention to the hostess which is the very first phase of the company. She was not inviting, welcoming, happy, friendly, joyful, customer, driven, motivated, or any other adjective that would invite a person to dine in. All in all, a pretty good option that will make us come back

    The restaurant was beautiful so our expectations were high. Our server was absent most of the time. We felt like we bothered her. We came in at 5:00 so there was hardly any other customers so we didn’t understand the neglect. The food was not memorable. Overall we will not be returning.

    The food was average. My husband's fish was very oily. Waitstaff seemed overwhelmed. It seems like the restaurant was very understaffed and issues in the kitchen. We were at the restaurant for over 3 hours waiting over 30 minutes between courses. I had to ask for water from 4 different people. This was our favorite restaurant. Prices are very high and I expect excellent quality and service.

    Overall it was good. It was an extremely loud restaurant which was a huge turn off. Only restroom was located on second floor. Our table was stuck between a couple others and we were close enough to be rubbing elbows, huge turn off. Food was great though. Will try again when it’s not so busy.
