The drinks were bad and overpriced, and the food was inedible. We left both our dishes on the table and spent $200. The server didn’t seem to care that we ate none of our dishes. This restaurant is terrible and overpriced, go elsewhere

                                                                        Soup and sashimi appetizers had amazing flavor. Easily two of the best dishes we've ever eaten. Our waitress was fantastic. Ambiance was great until a large party of young loud people came in and began drinking and shouting.

                                                                        The service was ok. When your spending 600+ on a birthday dinner and part of that is a $80.00 service fee. The service should be amazing in my opinion. We requested to move tables because the table we sat at had chairs that we’re low and uncomfortable. We were told the table next to us was taken and no one ever sat in it our entire dinner. When the waitress came around she was very nice. I would have liked to see her more often. The food was delicious.

                                                                        Due to inflation; the restaurant decided to cut food portions to 1/3. The sea bass is down to three ounces. This place was hugely disappointing. The noise level is not suitable for conversations and the single tables are so deep you cannot be intimate but very appropriate for Social distancing.

                                                                        We reserved a table with Lionfish about a week prior to the date. The evening was to celebrate my husbands birthday as well as try this restaurant for the first time. We decided to drive into downtown instead of taking an uber. Unfortunately, the valet was full. All valets were full. All parking garages were full. We couldn't find parking and had to leave without dinner. It was the worst experience I've ever had with a reservation or a restaurant. The staff said that it was a common problem that they've experienced a lot. If so, they should notify the guests prior to their arrival so that they can plan accordingly. The food may be great there but because of that lack of curtesy, we'll never know. We won't ever attempt to go there again.

                                                                        Had high hopes given the positive ratings and many dollar signs ($$$$) that this would be an above-average spot. We sampled the squash soup appetizer, striped bass,and 'house favorite' bezerk roll. The soup had a nice presentation but was fairly bland. The fish was entirely flavorless and its pairings tasted like charcoal. The bezerk roll as pretty good. Also of note - 3 of the 4 'fresh catch' dishes have meat in them. We wanted to stick mainly to seafood given the name and theme, but noticed every meat dish we saw looked far better. The ambiance was okay but extremely noisy. There is no sound-dampening whatsoever. The server was kind and attentive but her supporting cast were all brusque. Crossing this one off the list, definitely don't recommend.

                                                                        It was extremely extremely loud. We had issues ordering due to that. Food was very good. Osso bucko was not hot though. The sea bass portion was much smaller than anticipated, but it was quite good. I didn't like the cherry dessert though. It was a bit dense and too chewy. I loved all the food items last we went in Mar 2020. Hope this was a one off.

If you're wondering about the dress-code; it is more business-casual than casual-elegant, but don't be afraid to dress up.

                                                                        This restaurant is part of the Pendry Hotel and imagine my surprise when I pulled up to the valet and was told it was $80! That means the people we invited to dine with us also had to pay $80 to valet their car at the hotel. It was explained that there was an “event“ going on in the area and we later found out that the “event” was already over with by the time we got there. And they charged $80 upfront! REALLY NOT HAPPY with this! What a bunch of crap that the hotel did not let people who were reserving dinner at the restaurant upfront that this was going to be happening. Over all the food was great, the service and staff were terrific and even the desserts were spot on!

                                                                        Enjoyed Lionfish very much, excellent service, interesting menu. Warning, the octopus has quite a bit of kick to it. We were warned but it proved a little too spicy for my wife (didn’t bother me) it was well prepared and tender so would been equally as good with less spice. The animal style tartare was delicious and will remind you of an elevated version of a certain west coast burger chain. Sushi fresh and generous portions, particularly the sashimi salad. Over all an excellent experience… upscale yet not stuffy or pretentious. Look forward to returning.

                                                                        Food and service were fantastic. I'm not a big fan of being a 2-top table squished between other 2 and 4-top tables up against the wall, but having eaten more than my fare share of NYC meals this way, I get it and won't hold it against them. We started with a dozen oysters, enjoyed the waygu tataki, hamachi crudo and a roll. The food was outstanding. Our waitress was attentive and helpful in picking out a bottle of saki. Will definitely go back.
