Linger, the second concept behind Root Down's Chef/Owner Justin Cucci is located in Denver's Lower Highlands neighborhood. Linger’s vibrant menu reflects a broad farm-to-street sensibility with a spin on traditional ethnic eats. Design elements can be described as a purposeful contradiction featuring reclaimed boxcar floors, a brick ellipse, a Lite Brite bar top and infinity windows with incredible views into downtown Denver. The food, the service, the story combine to extract a feeling. Linger is like a mixtape, and we hope it connects. We’re not trying to reinvent food -- it’s simpler than that. We hope to elicit a feeling – like you get when you hear your favorite song.

Linger Ratings and Reviews
I'd been here 2-3 times previously and enjoyed it but hadn't been compelled to come back. This time (about 2 years later) my mind was blown. Every one of the 6 dishes we had was SPECTACULAR and there were many more I wanted to try. Service was impeccable too. Will def be back, sooner vs later.
Linger had a cool atmosphere and really good food. Quite a variety of different items. I had Pork Belly Bao Bun and Wagyu Beef Sliders while my friend had the Ramen. Both were very delicious! I'm not sure I agree with their sharing concept. I think it's a cool idea but they don't really have the menu for it . It's categorized as a tapas place but I wouldn't really agree. Just get a meal and enjoy it!
The venue was spectacular, and I loved the updated feel while being in an old building. Very cool concept and the food was prepared flawlessly. The Sweet & Sour Crickets turned out to be a table favorite, and definitely a must try for anyone dining at Linger.
This was our first visit to Linger. My daughter is a recent Navy veteran who enjoyed experiencing different dishes in other parts of the world, and requested a restaurant using locally sourced foods and ethnic cuisine for her birthday dinner. This was perfect! She enjoyed the lamb kebobs and said it reminded her of the street food she loved in Bahrain. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the dishes we tried and will be back.
I am trying out some weird food restrictions. The server asked if we had any and I told them to her. I swear the whole kitchen was involved in making sure I didn't get the wrong food. It was impressive! I am super self-conscious about being high maintenance and they made sure I didn't feel bad about it.
Thank you very much!
If you are a foodie the dishes are lack luster and just not that great. The concept is thai fusion is more of confusion. Its just not well done if you're cultured in food BUT if you're a Denver local and not picky about food this is a great atmosphere with delicious drinks!
Service was so bad! Took 15 minutes before our server came over with water. We asked for our buns as an appetizer. They didn't come until end of the meal and were incorrect. Our other food came out wrong. She never came back to check how our food was. The saving grace was the manager. For expensive food, service should be impeccable. We were disappointed.
I am really surprised by so many high reviews since I give this restaurant an average review. My family and I visited for brunch. The service and atmosphere were okay. The crepe and curry potato dish was such a variety of flavors it just didn’t mesh well. I think we should try again at dinner to see if this restaurant gets higher ratings from us.
Excellent food, wonderful flavors! Plates are on the smaller side, but very reasonably priced; easier to try multiple items. The amazing Italian "Coffee and Donuts" (a dessert that included white chocolate mousse) was reason in itself to visit again.
Reasonably priced wine bottles and fairly good selection. Service was impeccable.
Nothing bad to say about this place.
I have been to Linger many times. Had out of town family members in town and felt it would be a great place to have dinner. We had a table of 8 and with the noise level we had to basically carry on two different conversations. I have had the beet salad a number of times and never noticed the "spice/heat level". I recommended it to several family members and a few struggled a bit with the spice/heat. All in all, a great location.
The host and wait staff were attentive and very good! They pace the food well and it was not a wait, even with though it was busy. The creative cuisine is really outstanding and created in a way that is cutting edge....LOTS of flavors, perfectly made, great presentation make for a delicious and artistic evening at Linger. It is fairly open and moderately noisy. And I would check out places to park ahead of time as our gps was a little off:) Fun area, even on a Sunday evening!
I would give it 0 stars if I could, went here with my partner for Sunday brunch and it was a joke. Our wait person didn’t get our coffees for about 30 minutes and just kept laughing it off that she “can never remember anything”. We started with their sweet potato waffle fries and they were the best part of the meal (and they were mediocre at best). The frech toast came out next and was another disappointment. The mint and giant pieces of crystallized ginger made every bite a mouthful of spicy and bitter soggy bread. I got the adobo Benedict and was disappointed when every bite ended with me trying to choke down the greasy plantain cake they used for the bottom. The cabbage slaw they had put in the middle looked about 10 days old with the brown edges and the few pieces of salad-slime that they had forgotten to pick out made it even worse. My girlfriends tacos were composed of over cooked eggs and chorizo with a limp soggy tortilla and a side of undercooked home fries. After voicing our disappointment with the wait person, our bill was thrown onto our table with a nasty eye roll. All together we were disappointed with every aspect of that dining experience. I recommend finding ANYWHERE else to eat. A McDonalds would have had better food and service.
We loved Linger! And will definitely be back. We tried the crickets, grasshoppers and black ants...our first time eating insects...and we cleaned the plate. The Devil on Horseback were so, so delicious that we each want our own order next time. Wait person was attentive and engaged but not annoying. Restaurant was loud and lively, but we had no problem visiting at a conversation level.
So delicious! Creative foods is a subtle description! Loved the Masala doma, full order. Also had the trout skewer and beet falafels, three were enough to share for two. Happy hour prices in the bar, no reservations needed. Recommend reserving for the dining room.
Great restaurant with tasty food 5* and wonderful service 5*. The kitchen was really slow for us and from what I could see for everyone else too. I also thought it was a tad overpriced for small portions. Yummy salad was $14 and I was still hungry so I ordered the tuna tacos. I think $14 too. Pretty expensive for a casual lunch. I’ll try dinner next time where I’ll anticipate getting more than 1 course and I’ll allow for the pace from the kitchen.
Delicious, creative food in a lively and fun atmosphere. Server was super friendly and made great suggestions. Plates are shareable and portions ample. We only needed one each, though we did add an extra slider (which was to die for). A little pricey but worth it!
Fascinating, international menu of the biggest "small plates" I've encountered. Two of us ordered 4 dishes and couldn't finish them, even though 3 were fabulously delicious. But we did leave room for sharing the beignets with a large side bowl of chocolate ganache which was incredibly good and plenty for two people. The prices were extremely reasonable, too. I'll definitely be going back to Linger next time I'm in Denver.
