Linger, the second concept behind Root Down's Chef/Owner Justin Cucci is located in Denver's Lower Highlands neighborhood. Linger’s vibrant menu reflects a broad farm-to-street sensibility with a spin on traditional ethnic eats. Design elements can be described as a purposeful contradiction featuring reclaimed boxcar floors, a brick ellipse, a Lite Brite bar top and infinity windows with incredible views into downtown Denver. The food, the service, the story combine to extract a feeling. Linger is like a mixtape, and we hope it connects. We’re not trying to reinvent food -- it’s simpler than that. We hope to elicit a feeling – like you get when you hear your favorite song.

My friends and I visited Denver last weekend and received MULTIPLE recommendations to visit Linger. It did not disappoint. That was due in large part to our WONDERFUL server Gish. He was helpful, funny, endearing, and attentive. And his recommendations were perfection.

The food was delicious, the ambiance was great for us to catch up and the space is gorgeous. I would recommend Linger to 10/10 friends. There is enough variety on the menu that anyone could find something wonderful to try.

Good vibes and great food. There were four of us there for a girls brunch. We started with the donuts with chocolate sauce which were to die for. We also ordered the breakfast dosa, which was so so, but the adobo pork benedict was AMAZING. The area around the restaurant is super fun and worth exploring if you're new/visiting

The food takes REALLY long to come out. It’s good but I’m not sure worth such a long wait. More than a half hour on a Saturday morning, for what that’s worth. The server was nice to us, but my wife ordered toast after our original order (our bad, granted) and that took a good 15-20 minutes.

Cool restaurant in a very hip area. We were seated almost immediately and our waiter Gish was great. He was very helpful in helping us pick which dishes would be good for us. We were not disappointed with his recommendations. We loved the family style sharing and we ordered about 9 dishes for the 4 of us and that was a perfect amount. The devils on horseback melted in your mouth and I look forward to going back to order those again. I highly recommend Linger and ask for Gish.

We had a great Valentine's Day dinner at Linger - the food was well presented and delicious. Our server was prompt and professional and the food came out in appropriate amount of time. They featured a set menu for $85 per person for Valentine's day - the first course empanadas and smoked salmon were incredible. We'd highly recommend Linger and hope to visit again soon!

I have eaten here before and like it, but it was way too expensive a Valentine's dinner for the food quality. Overly eager to be creative and under skilled at temping meats, making sure the salad wasn't soggy, and the basics of solid food service. I wouldn't go again for a special dinner.

Mark was our server, and he was attentive and extremely knowledgeable about the menu and preparation methods. The food itself is complex and challenging without being pretentious or inaccessible. Great place for a foodie or anyone who just likes good food.

It was my wife’s birthday and we had been talking about going to Linger for a while but something always came up so I decided to book a reservation for my wife’s birthday. We originally found the restaurant by searching for places that could accommodate my wife’s gluten and dairy allergies. I booked on Open Table and included all the notes about her allergies and that it was her birthday. Our server was Joe and from the start he had all the notes and made fantastic suggestions and we tried a little bit of almost everything until we were stuffed. The service was spot-on throughout the night. The best part about it all was that wife wife felt great the next days afterwards too!! So now we know we can come back again.

There’s so much to say about Linger. Their customer service is amazing. We arrived at 8:05 for our 8:15 reservation. We’re not seated until 8:40. They apologized and ended up comping us an appetizer, which was amazing. Each person in our party got something from a different “region”, each dish was perfect. The staff was nice. The food was affordable 10/10 will be back.

Wow, just wow. But because this needs to be at least 50 characters (done), add a few more Wow's. Amazing flavors, wonderful setting, great menu and best, perfect service. I'd type more but I need to make reservations to come back quickly!

We sampled several dishes and went to Lingers specifically to sample the sweet and sour cricket dish, which did not disappoint. It was delicious. More restaurants should provide insect-based cuisine!

Went for brunch a head of the Sunday rush. Everyone else's meal was good (wagyu sliders, Adobo Pork Benedict). Mine (benny chow) arrive cold, and my eggs were underdone to the point when I cut into it the yolk the white surrounding were so liquidy I should have asked for a spoon to eat the dish. I wish there had been a bit more lamb curry, but I'm pretty sure had the egg been cooked properly the dish would have seemed better composed, and not felt washed out. Besides wanting a warm dish, a little more spice would have been nice, but there was hot sauce on the table, so I made do.

Our appetizer never showed up. The food runner seemed very moody - he showed up to the table with half the order and didn't know what he had in his hands. He stated he was holding menu items we didn't order, then our waitress showed up to inform the runner what he was holding - which was, in fact, part of our order. He sulked off in huff, never acknowledging his error/source for confusion, and it was uncomfortable for everyone.

I used to really like Linger, and was very much looking forward to brunch. But it was such a disappointment. Maybe I should have drown my sorrows in a bottomless mimosa.
