Everything about our experience at Lineage was special and memorable. Lineage's creativity in bringing unique, delicious dishes and cocktails to life is second to none in Hawaii. We cannot wait to return.

Amazing take on local Hawaiian food, cocktails are intensely creative. Great priced small plates, perfect for a couple or big group. Sets a new bar for restaurants on Maui.

Fantastic experience at Lineage! Service, food and drinks were all great. This was our first time at the restaurant, so our server Joey explained the menu really well and gave us his recommendations. We ordered the HRC19, squid, ginger chicken, I would recommend all three dishes. We met Chef Sheldon after the meal, and Chef was a pleasure to talk with. My favourite dinner experience in Maui.

Great food! Best meal we had in Maui on our vacation. If it’s just two of you, I’d recommend sitting at the bar and eating there; the noise level at the tables made it really hard to hear my girlfriend sitting across from me.

The food at Lineage is well worth the trip and they consider themselves a "locavore" establishment. This means the crockery used by the restaurant is made 3 streets away, and ~90% of the vegetables come from a local garden owned by Oprah Winfrey. I highly recommend sharing the Lauya (especially if you're a fan of good bone marrow), and they have a nice selection of cocktails. The only downside that I experienced was whenever someone ordered the Makule Kiawe cocktail because of the kiawe smoke (reminded me of sandalwood and incense). If you don't like that scent or have allergies/sensitivities to it and you happen to be sitting indoors, then it stinks out the air and it can ruin your meal when it gets up into your olfactory senses. To make things worse, this happened 3 times during my dinner reservation and I started sneezing.

The food here is weird. Nothing on the menu is anything you have ever eaten before, or have even heard of before. Some things were good and others were just OK. But if you want anything recognizable, then this is not the place for you.

Ruth was a great server and knew the menu well. The food was good. The braised pork shoulder was mostly fat, but the flavor good. The califlower three ways was good but the gravy a little heavy. The cocktails were good and very creative.

What a lovely experience....innovative, interesting and really delicious food and service. Wish we had time for another visit so we could try more of the menu. From cocktails to dessert, everything was on point. Started with cocktails, a Maneki-Neko (tropical w/o being too sweet) and a Mokule Kiawe (seriously strong and delicious). We then moved on to a Hapa Hulu, which we both really loved. Started with the Kimchi dip and fell deeply in love with that! Needed bigger chips to scoop up the goodness. We then shared a half dozen oysters which were so fresh and delicious. Very spicy, might want to pick out a few chili’s before diving in.

Have to digress for a moment and mention what terrific service Christian provided. He went above and beyond and was just such a pleasure to have at our table. He made us feel like we were guests in a best friend’s house but still professional. Next we split the Bottom of the Plate Lunch...this is one of my favorite holdovers from the menu at Migrant, where Chef Sheldon was previously. Then we shared a half of the HuliHuli chicken. Omg...honestly, some of the best chicken I have ever eaten. So beautifully prepared. I know, I know ...$40 for half a chicken...but if it was ever worth paying that, this may be it, it was for us. My husband is not a big poultry eater and he thought he died and went to heaven. We were comped some chicharons and the chili water. I was literally drinking it neat as it is so delicious. It is not spicy hot like the name suggests. I have had chili water in Hawaii before but nothing like this. My mind is reeling with what I can do with it when I get home since I now own two bottles of it.

We shared a Filipino cereal for dessert and a cup of the house special coffee which i wish was available to purchase. So smooth and non acidic...really lovely. Ended with a coffee liqueur mix drink that was perfect. Met a number of the staff as we left and all were so welcoming...go & enjoy!

the biggest problem was the service which was uneven at best. good explanations of the dishes but very difficult to get a server to come to our table when they were things that we needed.

The food was interesting and delicious. But format was kind of weird. Cocktails didn't come until our entrees. Very loud, and sitting on top of people next to you. We left feeling frustrated. We are foodies, but this just wasn't our gig. Maybe order togo?

What an amazing dining experience!! The food here is not for the faint of heart, if you are an adventurous eater then you will be right at home. The molecular fermentation and chemistry that is incorporated into every cocktail and dish at this place makes you ponder over each bite. The staff is ALL extremely vested and knowledgeable, taking pride in this family. We were entertained throughout our entire experience. You have to try the chicharones, poi mochi bites, huli chicken, the secret hot sauce, everything was truly mind blowing!! Make sure to sit at the bar when Zach is there, and get ready to enjoy a show from an Artisan. Bravo gentleman!!!!!

Excited to go was my first time going and it lived up to the hype. The food on point chef Sheldon is a genius with the menu and lineage had top notch service. Our waitress Ruth made it feel comfortable, and especially my daughter who means the world to me enjoyed her service even to the dim sum cart lady Alyssa made lineage go over the top. Will dine back again

The food selection was unusual and interesting. It was well prepared and tasty. However it in no way justified the prices which appear to have increased from what are shown on the menu on their web site. The service was friendly and efficient but they seemed to be pushing the food. At the servers urging we wound up ordering too much food.

We love Sheldon’s family and heritage cooking and Lineage met and exceeded our expectations. We loved the friendliness of the staff and the delightful, comfortably paced service.
The “dim sum” style appetizer cart was fun and a great chance to try a few tasty treats before the meal. We also ordered the homemade spam “musibi” and if I lived here, I’d eat this all of the time!
When asked what our favorite dish was, the honest answer is, whatever is in my mouth at the moment. We had the chicharon with the chili paper water. Even if you don’t order the chicharon , order the chili pepper water as a chaser for the richer dishes like the short rib! What ever you don’t finish, you’ll take home the bottle. You can thank me later.
The Filipino breakfast cereal is so,light and delicious and the story of the genesis of the dessert makes it worth ordering. If, like us, you are splurging, also order chocolate ganache. (I thought it would be heavy, but they’ve done something magical and it is just incredible!)

An outstanding find just outside the walls of our resort in Wailea. We flatter ourselves as having tried most of the types of cuisine on offer in modern food culture, but Chef Sheldon's Lineage introduced us to a number of traditional Filipino and Hawai'ian flavors that we'd never experienced. Worth a detour if on Maui.

Our server Diane was very thorough and informative. We eat dairy-free and my wife is sensitive to gluten as well, so anytime a server spends a couple extra minute with us to explain our options we are very grateful. Our cocktails were delicious and boozy, and the entrees were delicious. We would definitely eat here again.
