   We are old fans of chef, Rocco and Restaurant, Lynn Contra From it’s 25 years in Astoria so this was our first venture to its new location on the upper east side since June ‘24. The moment you walk in you are charmed and delighted by the thousands of lights that quietly illuminate the interior but first you pass a very robust bar scene which miraculously does not have noise spill over into the dining area. Very well designed! The dining room is just magnificent. Perfect for romantic dinners or special occasions or just a nice night out. The food was truly exceptional with one disappointing dish being the artichoke appetizer because the artichoke was the size of two ping-pong balls instead of your full hand, which we are accustomed to. It also was not an inexpensive appetizer so the value there was definitely in question. Chef Rocco himself is as warm and sweet as ever and convivial with his patrons, whether he knows you or not, he makes you feel like a special one in the room. It is a marvelous talent of his that goes along with his skill, chef, preparations, and restaurant management, all of which were evident during our entire beautiful experience. We will be back!

   I've been going to L'Incontro since 2007, when Rocco was in Astoria. Still the same fantastic food and always amazing specials- I'm glad the selection is a bit smaller to chose from now...IYKYK. The only small issue was the waiter was a bit difficult to understand and everything he said was so fast you could barely hear him. Had to ask him to repeat things several times- thankfully he was not getting frustrated with us, but when you speak to fast or not very clearly- it's a bit difficult to hear as the restaurant started to get packed. Also- would have appreciated it if he told us the specials when we asked initially, before our drink order. I would have liked to pair my wine a bit better.

   Outstanding experience! Chef Rocco walked around greeted each table. Highly recommend Definitely worth the wait for a reservation

   Chef Rocco is a delight. Everything we ate it just kept getting better. My only negative was there were so many specials it was hard to remember which ones. Need to go back to eat my way through the menu

From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by an inviting ambiance that perfectly marries elegance with warmth. The decor is beautifully done, creating a cozy yet sophisticated setting that sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. We started our meal with the meatballs, which were a revelation. Juicy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, they set a high bar for the rest of the meal. The Caesar salad was equally impressive—crisp romaine with a creamy dressing and just the right amount of Parmesan, making it a refreshing prelude to the main courses. For the pasta, we opted for the house specialty, and it didn’t disappoint. The noodles were cooked to perfection, and the sauce was a delightful harmony of flavors that lingered long after the last bite. The lamb chops were a standout as well; tender and succulent, they were seasoned to perfection, showcasing the kitchen’s dedication to quality ingredients and culinary finesse. To finish our meal, we indulged in the crème brûlée, and it was the crowning glory of the evening. Each spoonful revealed a perfect balance of creamy custard and a perfectly caramelized top, a delightful end to our feast. Owner Rocco was incredibly friendly, adding a personal touch to our experience. His passion for the restaurant and its offerings was evident, and he made sure we felt welcomed throughout the evening. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing our dining experience even further. Overall, L’incontro exceeded our expectations in every way. Each dish was better than the last, and the combination of great food, a beautiful setting, and exceptional service makes this restaurant a must-visit.     The food was terrific and service attentive but not overbearing. Nice to find a nice place to eat in the neighborhood. Wine list has something for everyone.
