Lincoln's Bar B Que Ratings and Reviews
Our Server Sam was a delight. My food was ok. The rest of my family were satisfied but not thrilled. I had the ribs and they were okay. They could have used some seasoning but I guess they rely on the sauces. My husband had the pulled pork which was sliced not pulled. Also not seasoned. My daughter had the kid's mac and cheese and it looked like noodles soaking in milk. Their white cheese sauce was extremely thin and did not coat the noodles. The others at the table commented that their food was bland. Maybe we will return to try different options. I'd like to try one of those milshakes!
The BBQ ribs were good with lots of options for sauces. It's hard to find great ribs in the DC area so these will do if you've got a craving.
My dining partners raved about the brisket.
The crazy milkshakes were definitely the claim to fame here. "Epic" isn't even the right word for the intense amount of sugar in each milkshake. The milkshake itself is actually small but the glass is coated with frosting and then has stuff stuck to it such as cookies, cookie dough, sprinkles, M&Ms, etc. Then it's topped off with more pastry items like a pop tart, brownie or cookies as well as whip cream. Great for sharing or for that intense cheat day.
small portions. kitchen not in 'service mode'. food cam out late, cold and in spurts.
pulled chicken didn't even arrive until the rest of the meal was consumed. 1 milk shake took 20 minutes. entrees were late, cold and small for the price. I thought the 'brisket ' entree was a joke. It looked like the management decided to take it upon itself to achieve their target food cost for the period at the expense of their customers. No wonder Lincoln BBQ hasn't made the top BBQ in this area.
the server , excellent - from Colorado- was NOT at fault. totally the kitchen. she recommended we fill out comment cards - which we did.
We came in for dinner on a rainy weeknight, and were surprised to find the restaurant mainly empty. That gave us a nice intimate dinner setting, which was complemented by really rapid service. That said, the food left us underwhelmed. We both had the dinner special, which included a choice of two meats and two sides, a starter salad and a dessert. The starter salad was more like a salad that would ordinarily be served with a main course (ie, very, very small) in a cup. Of the meats we chose, the only one we really liked was the spicy sausage. The brisket oddly tasted more like prime rib (and looked like it, too), and the chicken was overcooked. The sides were also not inspiring -- succotash was overcooked and coleslaw had a lot of mayo. The cornbread was inedible. For this type of restaurant, the beer selection was pretty slim, although the choices available seemed okay. I like IPAs, but they're not everyone's favorite. Our server made a mistake on the bill, but he cheerfully and quickly corrected his error. All in all, we expected more from the Lincoln and hope they make some improvements soon.
The Service was outstanding; the waitress continuously let us know when our food was coming and always checked on each of us to see if we needed anything else. The Lady was a great, lively energetic talker and was from Bowie, MD and was a Black Female. She really made my family and myself feel at home at Lincoln's. We were seated immediately and our food only took 15 minutes to come out. Food was excellent!! Portions were huge; everyone took "Doggie Bags" home. My Mom will be 98 years old in (2) weeks and she is still raving about the Hamburger!! Most of us got the trio "Make your own meat-platter". Beef Brisket was so tender & juicy, ribs excellent, fried chicken was to perfection and not salty. Highly recommend to all if you ever visit the Silver Spring Business District. Great for family outings, birthday parties, business meetings or deals. Very casual atmosphere. I rate this establishment higher then Famous Daves.
Everything here is perfectly mediocre. The monster milkshakes are a sight to see, but they look much better than they taste. Everything I ate was totally lacking in flavor. It wasn't exactly bad, but it wasn't good, either. Look at the pictures online and skip going in person.
Our server was pleasant and our order came out timely and correct. The milkshakes were great and the sides were good too. The puller pork was very dry and so was the bbq chicken. After reading other peoples reviews it seems like this is a common problem here.
I had a blast at lincoln bbq . My girlfriend wanted to go so I surprised her on her birthday. Food was excellent, waiter was very friend and on time with order and drinks . I have recommended lincoln bbq to several people in hopes they would attend also.
The table where we were seated was not very clean, I didn't really want to touch anything without risking getting my hands dirty or sticky before eating my food. I ordered the two meat combo and got fried chicken and bbq brisket. My two sides where good but the meats not so much. The chicken was too burnt to eat and the brisket, I got a piece that was nothing but fat. So all I ate was the Mac and cheese and greens. Oh and my cornbread. Out of my whole meal the cornbread was good. I think if it wasn't for the great waitress I had, I think her name was Jessica I would have left.
Thankfully we had gotten a reservation (for 8) and were able to be seated right away. The place was "hoppin"! We were greeted quickly by our server and offered drinks. The food took a little longer to arrive than we wanted but again, it was really busy! Plus we forgot to order an appetizer (which always help the wait seem shorter). Our server was very attentive to our needs and very informative about the food, sauces and AMAZING milkshakes! I would definitely go again - for a special occasion - as the prices are a bit steep to go there on a regular basis!
Tried Lincoln for lunch with family. Entries were good but nothing to write home about. In fairness, we plan to return to try other menu items! Mac and cheese lacked cheese. Ribs were so, so! Being from the south maybe our expectations were a bit high. Will try Lincoln's again!
Server was nice and was helpful. A few missteps with the food, luckwarm onion straws, dry cornbread, brought out wrong side, then later brought out wrong shake, and got the super cookie shake, but it had weak ingredients for the price....fake whipped cream, store bought chips ahoy cookies and cheap ice cream. Mac and cheese was very good and the turkey was pretty tasty. I would go back, but make sure I got the right dishes the next time. The staff was helpful and corrected everything when we asked.
Besides the hostesses that tried to turn me and my friends away, supposedly because their was no sitting available (there where at least five tables within eyesight that were empty), my experience at Lincoln's was positive. The BBQ was good and the sauces were spectacular. The monster milkshakes in my opinion were a bit lackluster, but definitely not ordinary.
The service here is HORRENDOUS. The food was okay, but not worth the wait. My friend ordered a shake and it literally took FORTY FIVE MINUTES to arrive at our table.
The only reason I gave one star is because the lead busboy was very helpful and professional, unlike the guy who took our order and did basically nothing else besides put his dirty hands on the rims of our glasses when pouring water refills.
It was kind of the manager to send over an extra shake and take 20% off our check, but it hardly made up for a disastrous dining experience.
If you're a glutton for punishment you can try your luck or I recommend driving to Bethesda for the best BBQ ribs in town at Houston's.
We waited 20 minutes to get our first drink and almost an hour to get our food after we put in the order. We kept having to flag down the server to get any service. And then on top of it, the ribs I had were extremely fatty and the rest of the food was sub par. I was extremely disappointed and can't help but think there must be some major challenge with the way the kitchen works as the last restaurant that was in that location suffered from similar challenges getting food out in a timely manner.
We checked this place out because everyone was talking about their "crazy milkshakes." Unfortunately, this place is a bit kore hyped up than it actually is. Milkshakes look better than they taste, the beef
Briskets were dry and bland so we smothered them with sauce and the mac & cheese barely had any cheese! Even our five year old son didn't like it too much. Overall, food is edible and ambience is pretty nice.
I really hope this place succeeds! This is our second visit there and both have been overwhelmingly positive. This town (DC area) generally does not know how to do barbeque, but Lincoln's is the very best of the sparse bunch. Two of us had the lunch special--a generous portion of meat and two sides for under $15! The brisket was delicious and the sides were great--the beans have a bit of a kick and the fries were crisp and fresh. My husband loved the mac and cheese. You can choose your sauce from several at the table. We stick to the "Kansas" sauce, although I really wish it were called Kansas City, which is a bit more accurate. No matter, it's the right combo of spicy and sweet.
Because I am a Southern-raised gal, I had to try one of the newer barbecue spots in my Silver Spring neighborhood: Lincoln's Barbecue. I ordered the half rack of ribs, and that meat was smoked to perfection. The meat was perfectly seasoned, and it was "fall off the bones" tender. I also ordered the catfish which had great flavor and was battered in a corn meal and flour mixture and not in the wet, waffle batter many of these DMV restaurant so disrespectfully do. The collard greens were the perfect degree of vinegary and flavorful thanks to the pork seasoning. The mac and cheese wasn't the normal southern-baked variety, but the flavor saves the day. The cornbread tastes like my grandmama's. The baked beans had a nice smokey flavor as did the corn with peppers and chilies. The fried pickles and its dipping sauce were the perfect balance of tangy and happiness. I had some of my fiancée's beef brisket, and it had great flavor and texture. Finally, the drinks did not disappoint. I had the generous size strawberry margarita, and the cool crazy chocolate milkshake will be the talk of meal. You can add bourbon to the milkshakes if you want to coexist as a kid and a grown-up. I absolutely recommend LBBQ for its swift, friendly service, vast menu options, and downhome delicious food. It definitely is one of the better barbecue restaurants in the DMV.
I've never been so thankful for a random Instagram post in my life. Kudos to Social Media, it's what led me to this place.
My food was unbelievable! I had the beef brisket platter, my husband had the beef brisket sandwich melt and my daughter had the bbq chicken sandwich. The brisket was unbelievably tender and juicy, not dry at all, the brisket sandwich was excellent as well and the chicken was also moist and flavorful.
OH!!! Try the mac and cheese too!!!!
If you do find yourself here, do yourself a favor and save room for dessert. The milkshakes are to die for!! Forget calories for one night...
Service was just as friendly...
We typically like to give all of the local establishments a try. We try to encourage businesses and restaurants to come to our area. The location is perfect. We attended the restaurant that had been at this location previously. We sat at a pub table near the bar. Our waitress was quick to take our drink and food orders and welcome us as first timers. From there things went downhill. Our food arrived and as I prepared to dine, I selected one of the bottles of sauce for my ribs. The container which was under pressure sprayed barbecue sauce all over me, the table, the wall and floor. We waited approximately 10 minutes trying to get the waitress's attention. When she came, she apologized for the incident and brought me a replacement beer and towels and napkins. She never returned to our table to check on us or make sure everything else was ok. Finally, I walked over to the bar to ask the bartender if we could have our bill to pay and leave.
We understand that things can go wrong. We weren't expecting perfection, but we at least expected our waitress or someone from the restaurant to check to see if the rest of our meal was ok.
We aren't those people who seek compensation for incidents or anything like that, but it's always just common courtesy for wait staff or management to follow-up with the customer. I'm not saying that I wouldn't go back to this place, but I will say that we'll give them plenty of time for additional training before we return. The food was ok, but it would've taken a lot to offset that incident and the customer service experience.
Over the years I've eaten my share of barbecue, and our recent visit to Lincoln was among the very best. I had a combo of brisket, pulled chicken and sausage, two others at the table had ribs -- and each selection was simply delicious. Another person ordered the "burnt ends," which I had ordered on a previous visit. At least in our experience, that's an unusual item -- and it is really, really good! With the dinners, you get a choice of sides -- thumbs-up on all of those. Particularly memorable for me was a corn dish. The visit was certainly enhanced by our server -- friendly, helpful, attentive. He could not have been better. We're looking forward to coming back soon.
Overall food was good. My companion enjoyed his BBQ and, as a vegetarian, I was happy to see options for my meal (rarely happens at a meat-centric BBQ restaurant). The vegetarian po-boy was delicious. The reason I won't return is the service. I'd been told service was poor in advance but gave the place a try anyway. Should have heeded the warning. We didn't want to order the moment we sat down, which meant we never saw the server again until we asked another one to get ours. Our server never came by after food was delivered to check if anything was OK (I would have appreciated some butter for the dry cornbread). We had to flag down our server to order a second beer after patiently waiting with an empty glass for far too long. We even talked to the manager, who apologized and said he'd bring over a voucher for a free appetizer on our next visit. Never saw him again. Needless to say, a free appetizer won't matter because we won't be returning. Restaurant Managers: Good food without good service means fewer returning customers.
