Halibut overcooked. Bland service, very noisy
Beautiful setting. Our food was very good but very slow coming out of the kitchen.
We've been here several times for brunch, but this was our first time having dinner. It was tasty, and the view is just as spectacular at night as it is during the day. Wine is excellent as are the cocktails.
The food is great, view is amazing, and the service is delightful!! Definitely one of my favorite places in the East Bay!!!
Small selection of dishes, and waiter seemed a bit short with us, not as inviting as I would have liked. Some of the dishes were amazing and some were mediocre.
We were seated next to a very noisy table— only four people making enough noise for 10. Would be nice if restaurant had a way of dealing with those who are so inconsiderate. Hostess kindly let us have our coffee in the bar. She was great.
Great place to take a client. The servers during breakfast are lovely and allow you to have a quiet and slower-paced experience if that's what you request.
Limewood has definitely the best view to be had in the Bay Area -- all the way to the Golden Gate. However, we chose to go there for brunch, and the fact that the orange juice wasn't freshly squeezed was the first clue. The menu was aimed at a moneyed crowed ($22 for a burger that wasn't even Wagu?), and there were no omelets, not one, and when we asked, were told they didn't "do" omelets. Settling for eggs and bacon, the food (which did arrive quickly and hot) was good but could be purchased for a quarter of the price elsewhere. But then, of course, there wouldn't be the view. So compromise and choose what's important for your breakfast experience.
M was so accommodating and helpful. She explained the dishes and coaxed me to try something different and I’m so glad I did. When another waiter noticed we both had on dark slacks, he offered us black napkins.
They made my birthday lunch extra special!!
Great ambiance with good food and great views, service was okay, will definitely return
Wait staff knowledgeable about food and helped me customize my order.
We had a very nice time, felt a tad rushed but it was New Year's Day
Overall, we had a good experience. I’d definitely return again, thanks.
Overpriced and soggy eggs Benedict, obviously reheated in a microwave.
I got together with 6 of my young cousins for brunch -
The food was delightful, service efficient and we could actually hear each other talk. Really great time
There was a VERY limited menu at 1:30 pm. Basically, the only lunch item was a hamburger, everything else was breakfast. Also, it took a long time to be served our food. However the hamburger WAS good.
We came for lunch at noon on a Friday to celebrate a birthday. I’ve been there a number of times and have had a great experience, so I was very disappointed to find that the menu was for breakfast items with a small section noted on the menu of only ‘4 items available after 11’ as follows:
* Oysters on the half shell
* A basic green salad
* Burger and fries
That was the extent of the lunch menu. How do you put together a lovely meal with those items? I had brought someone here to celebrate their birthday and was embarrassed by the lack of options. We both eat healthy and neither the burger nor the pasta were a choice we wanted to make.
When I questioned whether they had an actual lunch menu, the server kept pushing chicken and waffles at me for lunch. Really? This is lunch on a Friday; not Sunday brunch. I expect so much more out of the Claremont.
My date and I ended up sharing oysters and he had the burger (which he said was good) and I had the salad (lettuce and small cubes of feta. Pretty tasteless and quite disappointing).
On a positive note, our server gave us very good service. It wasn’t his fault that they have modified their menu in this way. I would really like to see them revisit the decision to go this route. It was weird and made absolutely no sense to me.
Two visits in less than a week resulted is the same mediocre experience. The restaurants was understaffed resulting in slow initial service that improved once the order was placed.
Food was underwhelming. Everything from soup the main was barely warm. The pasta dish was gluey in consistency and pasta was overcooked.
Given that this is the only dining option in the hotel one would expect things to run more efficiently.
Unruly and noisy children are not the restaurant’s fault -it is that of the “enlightened” parents the don’t control their behavior ...but it spoils the atmosphere and resulted in several diners requesting to move tables.
Stayed for a Christmas staycation, ordered the special, steaks were over cooked. We liked the room service more!
My husband and I were there at 11:30 so we had both a breakfast menu and a brief lunch menu. I had the most elaborate and delicious french toast I have ever had. The pieces were huge and designed in an overlapping design on my plate. Looking at them I though they might be dry but they were light and most tasteful. I devoured every single bite. My husband also loved his egg dish. The service was excellent. The view looking out the window over into San Francisco was delightful. This is our third time here and we will definitely come back. Also, the prices are reasonable.
Waiter very attentive and patient with late arriving guests
Had lunch there during Christmas week. I knew it would be busy, but did not expect a couple of things. First, when we got the menu, it was a breakfast or brunch menu. I asked for a lunch menu and was told they did not have one that week. We should have been informed when we made reservations and I could have booked somewhere else. After we received our food, I never saw our waiter come back to check on us. We finished our meal and waited 20 minutes before she came and just gave us our bill, not even asking if we wanted anything else. Very poor service, even for a Christmas week.
We enjoyed our lunch of trout, the hamburger, the pasta dish (which I can't pronounce much less spell!) and beet salad. The beet salad was the 'weakest' of the items. The salad mixture pieces were hard to get into your mouth and there were very few beets. The hamburger was outstanding. Twenty four dollars outstanding... Well... The pasta was excellent, tasty, good portion and filling. The trout was delicious although the teeny layer of dark meat directly under the skin made the dish a little fishy. The presentation on all the items was beautiful!
We enjoyed the view and our servers very much.
As the resturant filled the noise level got pretty high. The two hard of hearing people (one with hearing aides couldn't hear the conversation at our table about halfway through the meal because of the background noise.
We ordered artichoke soup and rib-eye steaks. The soup was delicious. The steaks were rare, not medium as ordered, and full of inedible gristle.
It was OK very loud and hard to talk. We did not care for the lake of choices for lunch. Very small menu.
Not much to pick from . $21.OO for a hamburger or sandwich.?? We won't b going back. They should of offered soup, pasta, salads with choice of meats or fish.
The special touch of a white chocolate happy birthday sign on ice cream was special. Service was great.
We had a wonderful server. Everything started out great. The glass of wine was fabulous and quite expensive but I knew that when I ordered it. Of corse the view from the Berkeley hills is exquisite. The fog had cleared for an hour or two and it’s a beautiful view. We had a gorgeous light house salad that they split for a fee. But my fried chicken sandwich was so dry that I should have sent it back but I didn’t. I just deconstructed it and eat what I could. I have eaten there before and the food was better. So if you are a tourist and want a great view for lunch this is a great place. I live in the Bay Area and never tire of the view but the lunch menu is very limited.
Wonderful Christmas celebration with old friends. We stayed forever and they did not hustle us along. Mario, our waiter, was just terrific and the chicken sandwich and burger were fabulous. Definitely a keeper. Thanks!
A beautiful view from the Berkeley hills and spectacular food. The perfect place to bring guests.
The wine was great. The crab pasta had less than a teaspoon of crabmeat. No exaggeration. We were amazed. Overpriced and very disappointing food. We had a great waiter.
Lovely place for a special occasion. Beautiful setting, friendly (but very slow) service. Expect hotel / resort pricing.
Service and care!
Truly a very good night out!
We had a table for six. Lunch was very nicely paced and waitress was very attentive. Food was good and we had a lovely time.
We love Limewood. We frequent this restaurant for brunch or dinner and we are always satisfied with the service, the food and you can’t beat the ambience.
I would recommend with caveats. My wife and I celebrated all of our anniversaries for 20 years at Jordan and then the Meritage and both were always beyond excellent in the quality of food and service. Limewood does not meet those standards on any level. The Limewood is a good restaurant with good food with a great view. It is much too noisy to carry on a conversation with anyone that is not immediately next to you. The waiter missed my wine order because he did not hear me. We will be looking elsewhere for future special dinners.
An excellent dinner with lovely service. The view from the window next to me was dreamy.
Good food, but a bit pricey.
It's a good alternative to traditional too big Thanksgiving dinner.
Small portions with descriptions of entree including vegetables But these are simply garnishes . Had to order additional sides. Over priced.
Pricey but nice. Views. Ambience and service are excellent.
Gorgeous view but the food is expensive and quite mediocre. Do not order pasta. The atmosphere feels like a high end chain restaurant.
