View is gorgeous. Local cheese plate is yummy but the pasta was just ok
The service was excellent. Our server Wyatt was professional, attentive and friendly. Our party of four enjoyed kale pasta, hamburger, pork shoulder sandwich and fried chicken sandwich.
Yesterday, I took my client and his wife here for brunch. The hostess greeted us and took my club member number and then quickly took us to our table/booth. The first thing we noticed was that the cubicles where we sat were very low and cramped. We then waited approximately 8-10 minutes for our wait person to show up. While waiting we had one wait person say "I'm sorry, and will be with you in a minute", and then 2-3 minutes later had another wait person say the same thing. Unfortunately, both these staff members looked flustered as it was very busy in the restaurant. When that wait person did take our order she was very courteous and attentive. Unfortunately, she had trouble hearing are order as there was a party of approximately 12-14 ladies who were attending a baby shower at the adjacent table. To that end, it was very difficult to have a conversation during our brunch (no effort was made to ask that the party reduce the volume of their conversation). At one point I looked to see if there might be another table available for which we could be moved, but then realized that it was so busy, that there likely was no other space available. As for the menu, I was a bit surprised that there was not just a basic egg dish on the menu. While I realize it's important (and fun) for the chef to show off culinary talents with unique dishes, I saw only two egg dishes that had poached eggs. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I imagine that there are some out-of-town guests (and club members) who would just like to have basic scrambles/omelettes/pan fried eggs. Lastly, the ambiance was of course beautiful, and my guests were impressed with the hotel and the view. Lastly, the cocktails were very good.
Very poor service- seemed understaffed. Also, you don’t need to call guests one minute before the scheduled reservation to confirm they are still coming.....then have them wait 7 minutes to be seated.
Amazing food, service and of course the view! We couldn’t ask for a better expierence
The food is always delicious - the service is always incredible. The ambiance is great - we just so happened to have an amazing sunny morning so the view was incredible! Always love coming to this location!
Lovely, lovely hotel. Great restaurant with great food, service and view.
The menu is sooooo much better now, service is impeccable and it’s a beautiful atmosphere!
Em was the best waitress!
Was very good. Had the bang mi. Could have had more jalapeno. Was there with a client who was retiring and we were there for over 2 hours. Staff was great with checking in but not trying to get us to leave. The scallops were awesome.
Overpriced, but what do you expect here?
Don't order the steak if you actually want a steak. It's just four small strips with some mashed potatoes and broccoli.
The Hamachi appetizer was good but the beet appetizer was bland.
The Bass was good.
The wine list was very limited.
The room was nice but way too noisy for normal conversation.
The server, Robert, was great. The food was excellent but entree portion of tortellini was quite small given pricing.
Very poor service! Poor attention. Very, very noisy. Sounded like a nursery!
Spectacular view; caring and efficient service; delicious brunch! It was a perfect way to connect with an old friend. Thank you!
It was our first time at Limewood. Great ambiance and service for a special occasion.
The food was beautifully plated and there was a gluten free dessert; I rarely get to have dessert!
We weren’t very impressed with the menu, not much to choose from on a Saturday at brunch.
Fantastic food - fantastic service!
I feel like the service could have been better for the price tag. Food was great!
The food was excellent, but the service seemed a little off. The waiter seemed to have a hard time understanding us at points and our cheese and charcuterie plate came without charcuterie and we had to notify the staff in order to receive the complete dish. Overall a good experience but the service could be better.
Great girls lunch. Each person found their
lunch delicious. A new favorite
Gorgeous setting. We dined at about 12:30pm on a Sunday. Brunch was the only menu offered. We presumed there would also be a lunch menu at that hour. The brunch menu was very limited and therefore a bit disappointing. The Farmer's Toast appetizer was delicious - thick pieces of bread with ricotta, grilled pear. and prosciutto. I ordered Eggs Benedict. It arrived about two minutes after our appetizer, which we were still eating, so it's delivery was too early. Also, it could not have been cooked to order, given how quickly it came out of the kitchen. By the time I was able to eat it, it was stone cold. It may have been delivered cold, not sure. We ordered the Toffee Pudding cake for dessert. Very disappointing. It was a dry, over-sweetened very small piece of cake. Not recommended.
Our waiter was OK. We had to catch his attention a number of times for service, but he was also very busy. Also, we had a change of waiter during our meal too.
Still, the food was horrible - just OK. That said, the location and setting and views are just stunning, so even though there remains a lot of room for improvement in the food, I will still return for the ambiance.
When I arrived for my reservation, the hostess said that I had to decide quickly to order breakfast or brunch and if I wanted to do brunch, I had to wait till all the reservations were seated before being seated. WHAAAT ? The customer service was poor at best. That said, once I figured out that the bar was friendly, the wait staff there was very nice and accommodating, and the food was ok. I am not sure if they want customers, but I expect better from Claremont. In the afternoon, they restricted the menu to a superbowl only menu of very fatty unappetizing things. I think for this wonderful spa and hotel they need to reconsider the clientele and the restaurant set up , menu and service.
Had a wonderful time overall. Greatly appreciated having a table with a view. Food was all very good, and the service was nice.
We had a drink at the bar after dinner, and very much enjoyed talking with the bar tenders, Max and Gerardo
Our server Mario was the best! The food was delicious. Great date night with our son at a sleepover. Thanks Limewood!
Food was okay. Service was not! Waiter, John, was unimpressive. Reached around my wife’s shoulder from behind when pouring wine without her knowing. At the end the same waiter made a comment ‘We’ll see if this works when presented with 2 gift cards (one of which was given to us when the same waiter threw away our 20th anniversary wedding cake). Very pretentious around clientele and inability to adapt to clients from different backgrounds. Waiter only able to relate to wealthy diners.
The restaurant interior was really special. Gorgeous view from the window table we sat at. The food was absolutely delicious. Our waiter was wonderful (wish I could remember his name), and every restaurant employee we interacted with was terrific. I'm sorry I live so far away (400+ miles), or I would dine here as frequently! But I will be back, and I will recommend Limewood to any friends who are traveling to Berkeley.
Bar service is very poor- servers do not know wine list at all. Not friendly service either.
Excellent food - perfect portions! Recommend the Hamachi crudo and squid ink pasta
I booked a room with my adult daughter to celebrate my birthday. We had a great lunch of oysters and salad before our spa experience. Later that night we invited a friend to join us for dinner. She had heard good things about Limewood and is a foodie. We ordered the bone marrow, which was outstanding. Also the hamachi and yuzu appetizer. Wonderful! We should have ordered two of them. The grilled see bass was good, but a little strong in the fish flavor. We shared a dessert and talked until 10--late for us! Had a great time.
While the food and service were outstanding, the noise level was ridiculous! Trying to have dinner next to a lawnmower or leaf blower would be comparable. I would not recommend this restaurant unless you want to shout to be heard.
Beautiful for the ambiance and view but limited menu :)
Limewood was good for breakfast meeting a friend. My breakfast was ok not outstanding in flavor, portion size or value. For the prices being charged the portions should be better and more offered to customers.
Very limited menu. Menu online did not reflect menu on site. Very Disappointed.
Two of us met for lunch and it was important to be able to have a conversation. That worked out great. We requested and received a quiet table. The service was polite and friendly and everything came at a comfortable pace. No complaints. The food was pretty good but I had hoped it would be great. The butternut soup was served piping hot. I liked that. It was good but not as delicious as this soup usually is. I would recommend staying simple. Perhaps it was over spiced. The little gems and farro salad was ok. Better if not served ice cold, as the gems were braised. The dressing was so so. The atmosphere is very nice.
Food, with exception of the chicken dish, was excellent and creative, and
the service was friendly and efficient. The Claremont Hotel has a problem
with its parking system -- the exit gate fails to operate and long backups
(seven in line in our case) occur. A new effective system is badly needed.
I love this place, this location. I used to frequent the old Paragons restaurant years back. Same ambience, but Limewood has a better dinner presentation. The best thing about this location, before it was Limewood was: the ambience, which it has, the balcony, music and lunch. I need to return and see more of Limewood. This dinner was a really nice start.
Excellent dinner and fantastic service! The food was delicious as well. It's a great place for a special occasion!
Great view, but the food was disappointing. Over-use of salt in everything, chicken was a bit dry, steak was chewy.
This is hotel dining, but unlike hotel dining usually, the food and ambience were excellent. Next time we come to Berkeley this will be a must dining spot.
Had to return one food item maybe it was an off day but overall a decent experience
