Great food, excellent service, amazing view. What a perfect Easter breakfast with my son in Berkeley. Thanks!
Overall a fantastic experience from the hostess being very gracious to Francisco, our server was was professional and engaging. The room and views of the bay are beautiful, and we plan to return. Highly recommended!
Had dinner here while staying at the Claremont Resort Club and Spa to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Host and server remembered that I had noted our anniversary celebration in my reservation, so we were greeted warmly. We had the Hamachi Crudo for an appetizer which was delicious! Both of us couldn't help but order the New York Steak with Pomme Puree, and we were glad we did because I don't know if I would have been able to share any of mine! We actually didn't have room for dessert, but they brought us a chocolate torte that had this coulis sauce that perfectly balanced it as an anniversary treat! We had a table right next to the big windows facing the Bay views, the only drawback was that our reservation was prior to sunset, so the shades were down to protect diners' eyes from the sun. We didn't say long enough to see the view when the shades came up. We will definitely return to get to see that evening Bay view!
I actually came here on back to back days for lunch with members of my family as a close friend is in the hospital and we have all been very stress e and exhausted. Limewood proved to be a perfect place to talk and process everything going on. The food is phenomenal and the staff are outstanding. Everyone was extremely kind and professional from the valets, to our brilliant server. Thank you for the hospitality.
First time back in the hotel in decades. Very disappointed with the modern decor in such a charming old edifice. Food was good, service was great, and parking fee was exorbitant.
We waited over an hour for our food. During that time no one came to our table to refresh our drinks or to even communicate what was going on with our order. One of the dishes was inedible. For what we paid and what we experienced it was a waste of time and money.
Gorgeous Views. Food was very good and imaginative. Service was a bit slow to begin with, but got better. A fabulous experience overall.
We enjoy the Limewood as it is close to home and has fantastic views of San Francisco and the Bay.
The brunch weekend menu is lacking. Not many options. It wasn’t much of a brunch but more just breakfast.
Excellent venue for a quiet business lunch. Great view and good menu.
Our server Mario recommended the rigatoni with beef cheeks and it was amazing. Super flavorful, with meat that was so tender and pure heaven. The steal was also delish. Service was exceptional with Mario and Jesus taking care of us.
There was 6 of us and we all ordered a few different entrees. Everyone loved their meals. We had a table at the window with the beautiful views. Service was excellent. We brought a nice bottle of wine. The corkage was $35 even though we all had cocktails before. Also, parking is $7 with validation. Seems like it should be free.
Nice vibrant atmosphere and good service, but the food was meh. Prices reflect paying for the incredible view.
I guess, overall, I'd characterize this as a mediocre, overpriced place that you go to if you're staying at the Claremont Hotel or if (like us) you got an unsolicited 20% coupon. That at least brought our dinner tab down from astronomical to just regular-ripoff. The food was so-so. The place is noisy and, other than the view, doesn't have anything I'd characterize as ambience. And the service is on the slow side and "weird."
First, although we had a reservation, when I requested not to be seated at a table with counter-height stools (as I am short, and that would be uncomfortable for me), the hostess had to "check" with someone to see if she could give us a different table. That took an eternity while we were left standing in the middle of the restaurant. She eventually seated us at a comfortable table with a booth-bench on one side, but it was right next to the kitchen. We arrived at 6:00 and the place was practically empty so I don't see why we couldn't have gotten a booth in the back. It was my wedding anniversary, so that sort of smarted. Maybe I should have complained, but the first table change was already a big deal so I kept quiet.
Then, our server, who was perfectly nice and efficient, thought it necessary to tell us off the bat that everything was "freshly made"--nothing from cans. Excuse me? Was that condescending comment proffered because my husband is black, or am I being paranoid? Then, after I ordered the beet salad, he hovered to see how I liked it before I had even taken my first bite (it was just okay). When I gave him the brush-off, I think he got the message because we didn't see much of him after that.
The prices are obscenely high for what you get, especially considering how small the portions are. My tortelloni was uninteresting and excessively al-dente. Hubby's sea bass was just okay, nothing special. A glass of wine starts at $14 so I abstained. As I said, I'm glad we had the coupon.
Beautiful venue, but the chef uses too much vinegar and it took a long time to be served!
The Claremont Hotel is a truly unique piece of Northern California history. The Limewood Bar and Restaurant offers a great view of the Bay Area accompanied by amazing food and service. I first visited the Claremont in 1977, it was a very different atmosphere, shabby elegance, however today 2019, the experience is completely renewed and vibrant. If one is looking for a chance to enjoy wonderful food with a priceless view, I recommend the Limewood Bar and Restaurant.
Limewood is an experience that no one should miss if you are in the Bay Area! It is incredible, service is remarkable! Mario took such AMAZING care of us. Get there early and go sit in the lobby for a drink! One of my family's very very favorite places to eat.
A beautiful place to eat beautiful food. Of particular note as the service and the potatoes (we had a birthday brunch). Very satisfying.
Nice option! Close to East BAY area.
The menu was too limited for a high quality restaurant.
We dined on 3/16. Everything about our experience was fantastic!! Service started out a little slow but picked up as the evening went on. The food was absolutely amazing!! The view is incredible and we were able to watch the sun set. I will definitely be back . It is pricey but it was worth it.
Limewood is a special event experience! Got a table with a view (most of them have a great view of the Bay bridge and SF).... and order whatever you want.... yummy food and drinks. This is on the expensive side for brunch but it's a 'bucket list restaurant' for brunch ... with the view on a beautiful sunny day in the Bay Area.
Please treat yourself to this wonderful experience!
The noise level can be very high, but we requested a quiet table and for the most part we were able to carry on a conversation. The waiters are perfectly attentive--just enough. The food was excellent and the ambience adds to that.
Service was joyful upon check in and all the way through our departure. Appreciate the graciousness when our party was smaller than expected and then we requested separate checks. Thank you!
I love the venue, but their menu is limited and not very appealing.
Not a good recovery experience, I came back due to a recovery letter from a past experience but they failed again
Food, ambience and service was excellent!
My husband and I showed up at 11:20am. We were told by their host that they didn’t have room for walk-ins and that the wait time was 1.5 hours. We didn’t have brunch reservations so we decided to leave. We went back to our car to look for alternatives in the OpenTable app. I noticed that they had an 11:45am reservation open so I booked it to avoid looking for a new place. I was baffled with the host’s response because as soon as we were situated, the entire restaurant was not busy and dead. There was no way the wait was 1.5 hours!
Great ambiance despite the high noise level. Food quality and service were good.
The whole experience was pleasant. Though the menu was short, the food was delicious and unique. Each of the four of us ordered something different so we could taste each others.
Great staff and experience.
It was wonderful
Excelente. Servicio. Comida vista de la bahía. Relación precio calidad óptima
View is gorgeous. Local cheese plate is yummy but the pasta was just ok
The service was excellent. Our server Wyatt was professional, attentive and friendly. Our party of four enjoyed kale pasta, hamburger, pork shoulder sandwich and fried chicken sandwich.
The view alone is worth!
Yesterday, I took my client and his wife here for brunch. The hostess greeted us and took my club member number and then quickly took us to our table/booth. The first thing we noticed was that the cubicles where we sat were very low and cramped. We then waited approximately 8-10 minutes for our wait person to show up. While waiting we had one wait person say "I'm sorry, and will be with you in a minute", and then 2-3 minutes later had another wait person say the same thing. Unfortunately, both these staff members looked flustered as it was very busy in the restaurant. When that wait person did take our order she was very courteous and attentive. Unfortunately, she had trouble hearing are order as there was a party of approximately 12-14 ladies who were attending a baby shower at the adjacent table. To that end, it was very difficult to have a conversation during our brunch (no effort was made to ask that the party reduce the volume of their conversation). At one point I looked to see if there might be another table available for which we could be moved, but then realized that it was so busy, that there likely was no other space available. As for the menu, I was a bit surprised that there was not just a basic egg dish on the menu. While I realize it's important (and fun) for the chef to show off culinary talents with unique dishes, I saw only two egg dishes that had poached eggs. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I imagine that there are some out-of-town guests (and club members) who would just like to have basic scrambles/omelettes/pan fried eggs. Lastly, the ambiance was of course beautiful, and my guests were impressed with the hotel and the view. Lastly, the cocktails were very good.
