Limelight Supper Club & Lounge Ratings and Reviews
Location is great for the venues at DCPA. Food is good except for the Pork Tenderloin. Ambiance is good. However, we have received lousy service every time we have eaten there. You need to make sure you have at least two to two and half hours to spend for dinner before any show. This restaurant is terribly under staffed. I feel so sorry for the servers. We will never eat here again.
Our food took over an hour to arrive. We ordered two different kinds of soup both were barely luke warm. Our entrees took over an hour to arrive. When they did arrive my medium rare beef tenderloin was almost well done. Both entrees were cold, and the polenta on my husbands meal was refrigerator cold. We only had a few minutes to wolf down cold, and not prepared how we ordered it food as we almost missed the curtain time for our theater tickets. We made our dinner reservation two hours before curtain time to allow ourselves time to enjoy a special Valentines dinner before going to the theater. We were given a $50 gift card to come back to give them another chance. The gift card will almost not quite pay for dinner for two. Honestly it was so terrible we don’t want to risk ever going back even with the $50 gift card.
We were headed to the show Stomp and were so excited to be able to finally got to go there.
The hostess was tremendous and very welcoming.
We didn't see a waitress for 20 minutes. We rushed to get our drinks. We asked for tree quickest items on the menu so that we wouldn't be late: scallops, salads and bisque soup.
Unfortunately, the bisque was watery and not flavored, we never got the crispy garlic crouton that it comes with and the salads were the last to come out.
The table that sat after us and ordered after us received their salads and drinks first.
The service was ok but not really attentive and were almost late to the show even after giving ourselves an hour and fifteen minutes and taking the waitresses suggestions on quick items to make sure we'd leave ar 7:15
Next time, I'll recommend Oceannaire or even Sam's #3 instead. Which is disappointing. We go to Buell allot and thus would've been the best place.
This was a wonderful way to start our night at the Theater. Wait staff was efficient and courteous, and mindful of our show times. Food was for the most part very nice, but one entree (chicken) was a little dry. I would definitely recommend to start a night at DFAC
This is the second time in the past couple months that I've eaten at Limelight before a show. The food is delicious and the atmosphere pleasant. The staff are always outgoing and looking to make the dining experience a great one. While the food was very late coming out to our table making us have to hurry in order to make our show on time (we had 5:45 reservations and a 7:30 show) the staff were very apologetic and gave us a take away dessert bag of homemade cookies as a compensation. Even with this delay (not experienced the first time) I would still return to Limelight. It's an awesome place to dine for any occasion.
Yummy food, good service, perfect location for theater night!
We had a lovely meal before going to the theater. There was some service snafus all related to a single employee who gave us the wrong menus, cleared the table between courses thinking we were done, and was unable to use the prepaid gift card for our payment. But our waitress was wonderful and gave us really great recommendations when we asked.
I could eat here every time I am downtown!!
Unfortunately one of Denver's legendary celebrity chefs, Kevin Taylor, has lost several locations. The Art Museum is remodeling where his restaurant was located, nearby Hotel Teatro changed his restaurant for a new one and even the one across the way at the Opera House is hardly open any more. That is not to take away from some amazing meals in the past but this is indicative of someone who has lost his interest. Even the one new one, in Broomfield, is run by his son mostly. So it was a disappoint to go to Limelight knowing of his past and enjoying it. Nothing bad, just nothing exciting either. Generous portions but basic menu, little creativity and flavors. It's wonderfully convenient to the DCPA but within a few blocks are literally dozens and dozens of choices, many with great promotional tie-ins to the DCPA too (parking, discounts, drinks...). We had to ask for bread among other things and on a Saturday night to have half the tables empty, with many shows going on, says a lot. Sad to see once great things end but I guess everything does. Lucky for Denver there are so many choices nearby.
The kitchen was not on point yesterday at all. Nothing like knowing the kitchen staff is hungover.... Our medium burger came out well. And we waited and waited. Many people around us waited we were all headed to a theatre production. Lucky for us we allowed plenty of time. Our server was sweet she helped take the edge off. Not my favorite day here.
Great place for a nice meal before the theater in the DCPA complex.
So easy to park in the DCPA parking garage and then have a nice
leisurely dinner. We have eaten there twice in the past 2 weeks , and
the menu/food has definitely improved ! Good value for the nice entrees
My daughter & I went before a 6:30 play at the DCPA and our waitress asked about the time. However diners there after us were served their drinks, bread and orders taken before us. We even heard the other diners were going to a later performances. The food was very good so we will think about returning. We thought because we were two women our service was less attentive then if we had had a a man at our table.
It had been about seven years since my last visit to Limelight, and I was sad to see that it hasn't improved in that time. Our waitperson was forgetful and rather unprofessional, then disappeared about the time we needed the check. She had left a bottle of wine off of the check, so we had to correct her.
I had the Lemon Ricotta Bucatini as I am fond of pasta; but NOT so fond of it that I could eat the huge portion that was served to me. Seriously, there had to be a full pound or two of bucatini in the bowl that was served to me, and I could only eat less than half -- and I am a big guy. On the plus side, it was pretty good.
My wife had the Roast Chicken and the best thing she could say about it was "it's chicken". She thought they put way too much rosemary on the chicken. We split the dessert, which was sweet and good (Apple Crumble something-or-other).
The restaurant was freezing the entire time we were there; would it hurt to renovate a put a little bit of insulation in the walls and ceiling the next time? Also, it's stupid to have the door open directly into a public space, because when it's cold outside, that chill permeates the entire place. Spend a few dollars and put a double door in to try to make the restaurant at least a little bit less drafty.
Finally, I suppose it's impossible to get servers from someone other than Centerplate at a city-owned facility, but try to hire some decent servers...
Don't think we'll be back in another seven years unless this place changes owners and gets a facelift.
Very convenient location for before/after performance dinner. Food was average, we got cheese plate and shrimp appetizers and salmon with scallops for dinner. The best taste was for the cheese apperitizer. Scallops were over cooked and brought lukewarm (defiantly were standing in the kitchen for some time before were served). Salmon was average, lukewarm as well, not fresh from the oven/grill. Chocolate cake dessert was not fresh, ice cream on the top was he best part. Cream brûlée was delicious (however not the best I have ate). Service is below average, they brought appetizers with the main course and we were very hungry by than. It took more that 30 minutes to bring main course and Restaraunt was not working at full capacity. I do not think I would be visiting it again. There are more better places in closer proximity to the DCPA.
I took my two grandchildren ages 12 and eight for a pre-theater lunch. The wait person was wonderful and for the little one she even put three cherries in her Shirley Temple instead of only two. Always a hit!!! My soup and salad were good, too. (Only complaint was that the crab bisque came out luke warm and had to be sent back, and it wasn't very tasty anyway. Needed a little sherry or something else to enhance the flavor.) But otherwise, everything was lovely!
Experience was great. Server was very friendly and personable. The gift card for the restaurant was not as efficient as possible. It is done via the website and you had to go to several links to actually get the printout that works at the restaurant. This issue is solely with the giftcard website not the restaurant.
This restaurant is located within the Denver Center for Performing Arts complex so is convenient for theater goers. My friend and I were caught in traffic from Colorado Springs. Even though we were very late for our reservation, the Maitre'd worked us in and we made it to the show as they were dimming the houselights! My Scottish salmon was exquisite and she enjoyed her grilled shrimp as well. Mostly, we appreciated being welcomed so warmly even though we were late. The furniture is very "back yard" and I thought I remembered a more formal setting before, but the food was fabulous.
Pleasant preshow dinner right across for Buell Theater inDenver. Tenderloin was perfectly prepared medium rare, beef rib in whisky similarly on target. asparagus’s had been killed and appeared squashed . I know it is hard to serve a lot of tables right before a show, but for the price, it should be perfect. Need to rotate menu items so that there is a fresh menu each month for regular show goers
Limelight is our favorite restaurant for gathering with friends before going to the theater which is directly across the walkway. The food is always good, the atmosphere delightful and we have never had bad service. We appreciate the server sitting our group of 10-12 together and dividing the checks, however they tell us each time that it is not their policy to do so. We are grateful that they are willing to make an exception and tip them accordingly. Limelight is always a good choice!
We like the Limelight. It is really convenient when we are attending any event at DCPA. The food is good and well presented but I think it's a bit pricey. Our server was delightful and accommodating. The ambiance is good and it wasn't too noisy. The bread pudding is fantastic.
I've been to the Limelight several times now. The food is good but they were out of everything they wanted (anything Crab and Creme Brulee). It was 5:30 PM. A little early to run out. The service was just okay. We were greeted and seated right away. Great! Once seated, it took a while before even getting water, let alone drinks from our waiter. They mixed up what was ordered, as well. When the check came, nothing special, no "sorry discount" just "here's the tab". So, overall, a bit disappointed.
I have been to the Limelight on several occasions. It's proximity to DCPA is the reason.
I got soup and salad. Added Chicken $6.00. I believe there was 6-10 round like chicken pieces...sizes about a nickel. Really for six dollars? Drinks ran out. Waited. Waited.
We came for lunch before the theater. We had been here once before for dinner and it was good. The menu was a weird brunch/ breakfast with not a lot to choose from. It was one side of a menu page. The truffle fries were good. The hummus was bland, served with a few nice veggies, no pita bread or bread of any kind with this. The main course choices were limited. The breakfast burrito was very bland. The other choices seemed to fit a bar menu but not for dinner before the theater: a hamburger, macs and cheese.
The servers were nice, they seemed a bit inexperienced. The prices were too high for the type of food and quality. We won’t be back unless the menu gets more flavorful.
The service was top shelf as was the food. You really call it a complaint but they served a lot of food on the plates. Couldn’t eat it all and I wanted to because it was so good.
So convenient to the theater, directly across from the Buell doors.
Wine was wonderful, food was also excellent. It was really good.
We will return next show.
Surprisingly big portions! I have to admit, I had preconceived notions that there would be very little food. I considered the location and the price and boy was I (thankfully) wrong! Made pre- theatre reservations for summer here and was thankful to have the reservation. The atmosphere was fine- modern. The waitress, Alicia was wonderful (she had great recommendations and made sure we stayed on time for the show), as was the rest of the staff. And the food was delicious! I had the beef tenderloin and my mother-in-law had the pork tenderloin. Both dishes were tasty and filling! One of the best steaks I have ever had. Can’t wait to return!
