Limelight Supper Club & Lounge
We cater to serving Dinner prior to evening performances, as well as a Social Brunch Buffet prior to matinee performances, it is perhaps most popular for a quick intermission cocktail.
Join us on Friday and Saturdays for post service serving small bites, desserts, and cocktails after the shows.
Grab a drink and bring it straight to your seats (for Buell, Ellie, and Boettcher guests)
Every time they change the menu or concept I long for the good old days. This tapas menu is just another example and I don't think they've pulled off at all
Good buffet before the show. Staff was great. The buffet did struggle to keep up with some of the items.
We had Taylor as a server and he was funny and engaging. He steered us Away from what would have been a bad menu choice to an excellent choice.
The food he recommended was delicious.
Reserved a table for 2 before a Symphony event. The service was very good. We have dined here many times in the past. It was the same dull menu and the drinks were so so. We probably will not dine there again if possible. We think they need a new chef and menu to spice it up and remodel the place to get more trendy. The food is over priced for the quality you get.
Overall it needs a makeover.
Great service and location. That’s it.
This place has really gone downhill. Not only was the food so-so (with the exception of the Nashville Hot Chicken), but they bring it to you when it's ready. This meant that we got our side-order of beets after our meal - we'd even forgotten we'd ordered them. It took FOREVER to get the first round of drinks. Overall, just so not the Limelight it started as when it opened years ago. I'd be embarrassed to have my name even associated with it if I were Kevin Taylor - I expect more of his restaurants than that. Definitely will not be back.
We found the small plates okay, but not tasty. The fried chicken thighs were over cooked and very greasy. The deviled eggs were darn okay. Like small plates and family style dining, but would have more healthy offerings.
Not what it use to be. Very limited food that isn't common food for most people. The scallop/shrimp dish we got had pea size scallops and like 3 shrimps that was supposed to be a "shared" dish. Need to have more variety of food such as beef, pork, chicken, steak. Whatever trying to do with the food "experience" is not for most people.
The food was terrible- we had a burrata cheese that tasted like it had been soaked in water. Awful. The sever rushed us and there was silverware and trash on the ground. DONT GO.
Unprepared staff, kitchen failed to deliver food after 45 minutes.
I use to love coming here. The menu and quality of the food is terrible now. The plate presentations and flavor was very disappointing in all three courses. Bright lights, no ambiance and just disappointing all around. I won’t be back.
The food was good, the service was good, the convenience to the theatre was great. The issue was that it was a very cold night and the restaurant was freezing inside. They had space heaters throughout and I still had to leave my coat on while dining. Made it hard to enjoy the expensive meal.
I've already put a review on Trip Advisor. I have eaten at the Limelight for years prior to going to a show. I could always count on a nice dinner with a beautifully prepared meat, or chicken, or fish, with beautiful accompaniments and sides, plus a nice glass of wine or a martini. Now, whoever decided to do this "Tapas" thing is nuts! If they were trying to create an eating style like in Europe it didn't work. We were just juggling little plates. The restaurant was cold (probably because of the severe cold weather we've been having). The waiter was very nice -- trying to explain how the eating experience had changed. But PLEASE, go online, and read all the negative reviews! Go back to serving SUPPER! Until you do, I won't be back!
Went to try the new brunch "buffet" before a show and was unfortunately disappointed.
VERY limited on options. Scrambled eggs were plain...yuk! Carving item ran out at approximately 1pm.
Best part was the salad (spring greens) but only cucumbers, tomatoes and croutons to add. There are certainly more upscale options in area for less $. Sorry won't be back :(
Always look forward to dining at Limelight before a DCPA event.
We had the brunch buffet prior to a matinee at the Buell. Food was good, but wished there was a bit more variety included in the buffet. Staff was very pleasant, attentive, and anticipated needs. Great option for a quick bite before the show.
Waiter was continually making excuses for food not coming out in a reasonable amount of time. Things that did not need to be cooked like bread and butter arrive half way through dinner. For over $100 I expect better food and service.
Very limited menu. They have gone to a very odd method of serving their food. They just bring the food when it is ready. So 4 people at the same table may get their food at 4 different times. The wait staff spent all night apologizing and making excuses.
I have season tickets to the DCPA and have been to the LIMELIGHT many times. Recently, they switched from a brunch menu to a buffet. I liked the previous menu, with choices of sandwiches, salads or brunch items much better. The buffet food was ok, but nothing special, definitely not worth $22, then four more for coffee. Service was mediocre at best, and the restaurant was FREEZING. We ate with our coats on the entire time. I don't see myself going back until they switch back to a brunch menu.
Mid Century Modern Decor. A bit noisy. HVAC System needs some attention. It was chilly during entire meal. The food was quite good and interesting however!
Nice to be close to the Theater!!
Food prepared as good sized appetizers, designed to allow multiple tastings and to get you to your show on time. Reasonably priced.
Unfortunately, what was described to us as a new menu served family style was disappointing at best. Although there were some components to our meals which had good flavors, several were served to our table cold. Dishes were not cleared from our table when we were done with them, sitting in a pile at the corner of our table throughout our entire meal. Limelight is such a great location for concert- and theater-goers, so it's a shame that we will never return.
Great food and service! Temperature in restaurant was a bit cold. Was apprehensive of new menu and description from waiter on the timing of the different items we ordered would be served, but it turned out wonderful. Would definitely return!!
Tapas is not really sling it all at you as quickly as possible and then ignore you until you call for me. Puttanesca needed more simmering so it was a thick, rich sauce and not bland tomatoes with a few olives thrown in. The short rib was good once it warmed up. It came to the table very cold. The corn chowder looked like a green mess and was just ok. Truffle fries were excellent. Kevin Taylor has really dropped in quality and enjoyment since the glory days of Restaurant Kevin Taylor. Very sad.
We have had season tickets to the DCPA for many years, It is always a treat to make our evening complete with a meal at Limelight. We have been Kevin Taylor fans for years and love the convenience and charm of this restaurant. Like the new tapas type menu. Hope it will change seasonally. As season ticket holders this menu could get a little boring after a while:)
We enjoyed our dinner at the Limelight before going to the Buell Theater.
Limelight has gone downhill fast. The menu change is awful- expensive, small and oddly prepared dishes. We had the corn chowder, which looked like pea soup and tasted unlike any corn chowder I’ve ever had (not in a good way). They were out of a few things. The service was awful- we made a reservation for almost 2 hours before curtain and had to beg for a check to get to the show on time. Multiple requests (5) for a second drink went unanswered. They brought my daughter the wrong thing twice, and the wrong dessert twice before telling her they were out of what she ordered. Even the crime brûlée was bad.
They are closing for a month in January for a retool. Let’s hope it goes back to what it was.
Need to offer a few more selections and increasing price would be okay.
Unfortunately this was nothing like past experiences. It turned out to be a $22/person buffe before we saw Phantom of the Opera. The food was mediocre and cold. There were very few choices and no fresh fruit. I also ordered a Russian mule and the waitress corrected me and said it was called a Russian in a somewhat snippy way. (It can be called either). The drink ended up being horrible. I did not enjoy this meal at all and felt they were taking advantage of people grabbing a bite before the show.
Lunch before seeing Phantom of the Opera at the Buell
I was disappointed because it was a buffet! I like to be waited on and have a menu to order from! I didn't think the food was very good and not very hot! I didn't like the selection.......... Please go back to menu before a program on Sundays.
The wait staff was excellent!
Changed the menu from traditional appetizer/main dishes to bringing out all items in any order when ready. Ours happened to be brought out all at the same time and not paced throughout the meal. Felt very rushed to turn over the table before a show. Food was cold as if it was sitting in the back ready to go when ordered. Unfortunately, the quality has gone down tremendously and I would prefer bringing a packed sandwich instead of returning. Hopefully, others feel the same and they can reverse the huge mistake of this new menu and service style.
Service was slow. Food was very good. The salmoon and short ribs were excellent. Value was very good for a place so close to the venue. We will return. We do not like the predominance of share items.
We were very disappointed with our dining experience at Limelight. Their menu is now geared to small plates and appetizers. It is not creative in any way. I feel the offerings are inappropriate for a nice dinner before the symphony or theater. The food was flat and without much taste. Our waitress was very pleasant and efficient. An overall rating for Limelight is generous.
I would only recommend it as a convenient place to eat to get to the theatre on time.
The new tapas style menu is ho-hum.
Like for convenience to theater, but they changed their menu...I wasn’t a fan of it. For the prices and the menu change, wasn’t worth it. We will go somewhere else next time.
The new version of Limelight is such a disappointment. The new concept of bringing plates out as they are done is ridiculous - impossible to have a lovely dinner. After years and years of patronage, I will not return.
The staff are great. The food is delicious --were we to have eaten it hot. The new "family-style" service is terrible. Food comes out of the kitchens one dish at a time. We were a party of 4 and my 93 year old mother waited nearly 15 minutes after we were all served before she received her meal. On the table, we had salads and appetizers piled-up, entrees were constantly being maneuvered to fit.
Terrible dining experience for a pre-theatre meal. What are they thinking?
The Limelight is a favorite of ours for DCPA events (season ticket holders for over 10 years). We go to the Limelight about a 7-8 times a year. We will NOT be back until the service changes to a more traditional one, where the entire table gets their meals at once.
As usual dining at Limelight is a delight. The environment is always warm and inviting. The food is always delicious and creative. The convenience of Limelight's location to the performances at the DCPA is perfect.
The only good points about Limelight were its location, convenient to the Buell Theater, and our waiter (Ryan), who tried to make our visit pleasant. Tapas style food is not what we enjoy eating and there were very few options for traditional American fare. The prices were very high, especially for what we got, with the bill for only two of us over $100. While our waiter was kind, professional, helpful and timed our dinner well, the others on the wait staff were rushing around the tables banging into us and creating a very rushed and chaotic atmosphere. We most likely will never eat at Limelight again and will certainly share our disappointing experience with our friends.
