View Private Dining DetailsAlways lovely. Charming decor, excellent service, great food, moderately priced.
The food was delicious and the location was very convenient for everyone.
The food was fabulous & was near our hotel. Great experience and was a delicious meal!
Lillies was surprisingly quiet when we visited. This surprised us but it may have been just a cool damp night when people chose to stay home. The staff was friendly and warm. The menu was restricted to a few entrees and, at least, for the two that we sampled, they were done extremely well. We would prefer to have a more limited menu of food done well than a huge menu of mediocre plates. Pricing was very reasonable.
If we are in the area again, we will definitely consider dining at Lillies again.
Great Food! Daughter and I went for Easter Dinner. Street parking was challenging but worth it!
Wonderful food and service!
It was fine, although I was irritated to arrive and find only one table taken and then to be told that my option was one of the tall tables. I had specifically said no tall table when I made the online reservation. We had to wait until the waiter finished clearing off a table for two toward the back of the room. It didn't take long and would have been of no consequences had any of the other tables for two been taken during the 1.5 hours that we were there. In fact, hardly any other diners come in while we were there.
The presentation of the food was beautiful. The salmon and the trio were delicious. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. We will definitely return in the future.
meeting friends in from out of town and staying at the Shoreham. Perfect spot. quiet lovely place with wonderful brunch food.
Wonderful brunch menu! Food was great. Had a good long time here.
Delicious food, moderately priced in a pleasant atmosphere. Great neighborhood dining spot.
It was perfect for a birthday brunch for our friend who lives nearby.
Food was excellent. My party came for Sunday brunch. Two members had the Lillie’s eggs Benedict which was excellent. Service was great, ambiance lovely. We will go back.
Great food, sizable portions, good variety on the menu.
This restaurant had a nice ambiance but the food was bland and unimpressive
Nice little bistro. Decor is good, service very good( but we were 1 of 2 or 3 tables being served). The entree was average to good, nothing special. We had chicken piccata and chicken Marsala. Portions were good size. The linguine side was so so. The calamari appetizer was very good however. We made it for Friday happy hour and the pricing for wine was fantastic.
The food was good, however, it seemed over priced for the quality of food (probably because of location).
Great food, wonderful attentive staff, and a nice quiet and cozy atmosphere. And perfectly located next to the National Zoo - it was perfect for dinner before going it to see Zoo Lights!
Slow service due to busy night. We will be back.
Overall, the experience at Lillie's was good. Great location, nice ambiance, good service, good menu, great wine and Tiramisu, but the entrees were fine, not impressive. I would want to try something different to see if they have other entrees that are great.
Food was mediocre. Edible but nothing special, definitely not worth mid twenties per entree. I could get over that part but the kids meals...Mac and cheese...clearly from a box. Hummus app was not fresh, may have been bad. Close to zoo, nice enough setting but won’t be going back. Would rather eat at the zoo cafes.
Very nice little place right outside the National Zoo. The service was wonderful and food even better. Will definetly visit again.
Thanksgiving dinner here was excellent and generous.
Went there for thanksgiving dinner. It was a prix fixe menu, and the food was actually good but they were out of dessert before 5pm (strange for a prix fixe menu). The service was substandard : from finding a table for us even though the restaurant was half empty, to the hurried and careless way in which the food was served. We decided to finish eating quickly and leave. Basically, rather than dining out, we decided to take in calories and go do something else. I wouldn't mind going back if I have to but why if there are so many better restaurants within walking distance?
We were meeting some out-of-town relatives for dinner and chose Lillie’s because it was near their hotel. The ambiance of the restaurant was perfect for the occasion, quiet enough for us to talk and for everyone to hear. The food was decent — nothing outstanding, but reasonable. The service was very attentive and friendly. Everyone had a nice time.
Very good food and service! We had a table of 10 for brunch, which can be hectic. But as we trickled in, we were all offered drinks and served right away. Our meals were delicious and all came out at the same time. Very gracious and attentive staff. Well done!
Reliable Italian classics and intimate dining experience.
Very friendly staff, very accommodating. Nice wine by glass selection and varied menu- something for everyone if group has different needs/ tastes.
Our overall experience with Lillies was great! We had a long catch-up meal with friends and they didn't try to rush us - let us stay for quite a while and refilled our drinks very fast.We went for brunch and there was plenty of seating and vegetarian options. Will certainly be back!
Steak and veal parmigiana good. Cocktails very good. Service good but uneven as there were two large parties there and the small staff was consumed with handling about 6 people at 2 long tables and could not pay attention to the small side tables. Noise with the large groups was fairly raucous.
Lillies was great about accommodating our large group and had the table set up prior to our arrival. For a restaurant with children's menus that include a coloring portion, they were odd about giving out crayons (gave each child 1 crayon and asked them to share colors). This is not a big deal as I always bring our own, but still kind of silly. The service was decent, especially with checking the kids for drink refills and bringing their food first - always a plus! My veggie burrito was delicious and the portion was ample. Would certainly return here for brunch again. Very convenient location to the zoo.
Fantastic restaurant 10/10! Will recommend to all my friends.
My third or fourth time at Lillies, formerly Mrs. Simpson's. Food generally very good. Priced a bit high for what you get. Our service Saturday night was slow. Two of the four people were served right away. The other two had to wait for their appetizer which I know took some time to put together. There was a misunderstanding about the $30.00 discount coupon, but we worked it out. Always helps to read the fine print. My drink ws $10.00 and I thought it was high for what it was. When we arrived there was a very noisy group (probably tourists) in a corner making a lot of noise. Almost caused us to eat outside. In fact, one couple did just that because of the noise. Couldn't converse. Waiter mentioned this to them and they seemed to have gotten the message. There is such a thing as restaurant etiquette.
Overall very good food that is mostly Italian rather than widely Mediterranean. Ambiance was charming and cozy. A bit overpriced, but the food quality does not disappoint.
We went there for brunch. Ordered eggs Benedict with fries on the side. The fries came half boiled and too hard and bad tasting to chew. We were served by three different staff members and then in the end had to wait half an hour for our bill and credit card!!!!
Lillie's is a great place for brunch a short walk from the Woodley Park Metro and the National Zoo. Unlike most restaurants these days, it is relatively quiet and you can talk to one another without raising your voice. The food is very good and reasonably priced. There is an extensive menu that includes all the usual brunch standbys, along with several other options. By far the best dining option within walking distance of the zoo.
This place is certainly the depiction of a tourist trap. Food is okay but well below its price tag. My meal was brought separately from my date's and basically was no longer appetizing by time the second meal came out (Mostly because we had to ask if it will be coming at all).
Maybe it was an off night for them. But I'm still not willing to spend half as much as I did at a place like this. Even the specials on the Happy hour menu had the same prices as the regular menu. That was crazy to me.
Oh well, we live and learn.
I called the night before to make sure Lillie's was open on the 4th of July. When I arrived an hour after the time they told me, they were not yet open. Food was good, overall service was fine.
Cute little restaurant with a great lunch offerings.
