Really good flavors, innovative creations with generous portions, and the menu wasn’t so extensive as to give us FOMO! We ordered à la carte, 3 dishes served family-style, and were stuffed. Didn’t even have room for dessert. I’m looking forward to coming back to try the chef’s course soon.

Holy Divine, we had a lovely experience. If you want an extra treat do the Chef’s Counter top. The Chef made us feel right at home. The owner was just as passionate, the staff was super pleasant and the food was out of this world. They are doing Mexican Cuisine right. There was 8 plated dishes, by the fourth we were getting full. It’s not like other places where you leave hungry. Thank you guys for making our Anniversary one to remember. Look forward to returning when we come back.

We consider ourselves to be foodies. This was one of the most amazing food experiences we’ve had in years. We fall more in love with each other over a shared love of food. LOL. Outstanding.

We really enjoyed our meal at Lilia. Three out of the four dishes we ordered were great-- the spot prawns and pork were outstanding. One was just okay (the gordita). Very good cocktails. I was slightly put off because the table next to us was able to order the tasting menu even though they were not at the chef's counter, and we were told that was not an option. There was also a bit of an issue with some timing of the dishes. Overall, we really enjoyed the creative tasty meal and we will come back to try the dishes during a different season.

We ordered everything on the menu without meat and enjoyed many delicious dishes and flavors. The family style service allows more dishes to be served without stuffing the diner. The staff are knowledgeable about their ingredients and wine accompaniments and describe it all engagingly.

After some initial wait and confusion about seating we settled into a delightful evening of creative original tastes of a wide variety of nouvelle cuisine versions of Mexican and Southwestern dishes. Some service glitches but minor and sort of added to charm. Great food that is unique in a welcoming unpretentious operation

What a true gem Lilia Comedor is and how lucky Portland is to have this beautiful restaurant in our city. The staff was lovely, the food was amazing, and please do yourself a favor and get the wine pairings with your meal. We sat at the chef's counter and had what felt like an endless number of courses that were creative, intriguing, and packed with beautifully fresh ingredients and so much amazing flavor. The wines were mostly from Mexico and mind-blowing! Our dinner was simply unforgettable. <3 With a frequently changing menu, we'll definitely be back soon!

I really enjoyed my meal, but my partner ... not as much. She didn't dislike it. Just wasn't a 4 or 5 star meal for her. My only concern - well, "concern" is a little too strong - was that it was incredibly expensive for the money and the automatic 21% service charge was a bit much. I would have given that anyway, but to be told that I would pay that and the language around it in the menu in addition to the cost of the food/drinks gives off a bit of self righteousness that makes the tip feel like a 'take'.

Delicious! Everything was fresh and flavors complimented each other well. Best quesadilla I’ve ever eaten. Limited options on the menu, but everything we had was done to near perfection. Highly recommend.

From the moment we stepped in, it felt like we were welcomed into the chef's own home. What truly sets Lilia apart is the chef's attentiveness and knowledge. The menu was a true work of art but he also took the time to personally explain each dish, its inspiration, and the local ingredients used. It was like having a private dining experience with a world-class chef. I can't wait to return!

The chef counter experience was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had the pleasure of partaking in. Every dish was so thoughtfully and carefully created and presented. Not only was this a feast for the palette it was a feast for the eyes! Chef Gomez was so informative and clearly took pride in each ingredient used. We also thoroughly enjoyed our mocktails. Although we don’t drink alcohol, I will say was genuinely tempted as I watched the mixologist behind the bar concocting one unique drink after another. The creativity in this place was palpable. It was evident that front and back of house staff were dedicated to creating a culinary experience and I would recommend the chef counter to any adventurous eater! Can’t wait to come back to Portland and try an entirely different menu on our next visit. Also mad props to Chef’s wife who is a pastry chef and developed both of our desserts. Best flan I’ve ever had!

We were visiting Portland and had to try Lilia Comedor after seeing it on NYT best restaurant list this year. We were not disappointed. The food was creative, original, and delicious. We were blown away by the dessert. My husband could not stop talking about the entire week we were in Portland. The service was excellent, the people so kind. We enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend this restaurant to any of our friends visiting the area.

Not sure what all the hype is about. This is my first time writing a review like this, but our experience was so disappointing I feel like other should be warned. Food was only ok, not spectacular and the service was not very good. We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation time and were told that we would have to wait outside (in the cold!) or in a back service corridor until our reservation time, even though there were multiple open tables. We left and came back only to be seated at one of the tables that was already vacant when we first arrived. Servers didn’t seem to be assigned tables, so noone seemed to know what your status was. The pacing of the courses was also off. Our second course arrived before we’d finished our first course, then we waited forever for our second course dishes to be cleared and for our third course to arrive. Same thing happened with the third course and when we finally got someone to clear our dishes and bring us dessert menus, we were again abandoned. After 20 minutes of being ignored we had to flag someone down to place our order. During one of these long service gaps, I watched as the bartender put his finger in a drink (seeming to pick something off of the ice cube inside) and then deliver it to the table next to ours. I was shocked and it made me wonder what else was happening out of view. Overall it was a very disappointing experience and there are multiple other restaurants in town where you can get both better food and better service.

We sat at the Chef's Counter -- the food was excellent, all narrated by the chef. The wine service, however, was terrible. It took over 15 minutes to order a bottle, only for the server to return empty handed. We ordered a glass of wine to tie us over until our second choice bottle arrived. No one ever thought to apologize or comp our glasses of wine. Frankly, it ruined our experience. Too bad, especially since gratuity was already included at 21%!

The food and service were completely fantastic. The setting is very nice. For us, this is a special occasion dinner restaurant; it's just a bit more expensive then a normal night out. Everything was delicious.

This restaurant deserves its accolades. The wait staff were great and very accommodating. We showed up as a party of three with a reservation for two and they managed to make it work for us. The chef is extremely talented, the food beautifully plated, and appropriately priced. My only problem was my not being wild about dried chili /mole flavors and they were fairly pronounced in this food. For anyone else they'll probably love it.

The food and service is fantastic but the noise level is uncomfortable. The wine selections were very expensive. Each dish can be enjoyed by two people, which decreases the price, but unfortunately $200+ for two people is beyond my budget for more than one time/ year. So I probably wouldn’t be able to return for a few years.

Delicious menu, creatively and beautifully presented. So many flavors and textures. Nice little facility, only seats about 35 people, but would recommend giving it a try for an extraordinary tasting experience. Will definitely return. Plan ahead, reservations can be hard to get.
