About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Innovative
  • Great for creative cocktails
Award-winning Chef Juan Gomez, who helped República garner best new restaurant nods from Bon Appétit and James Beard, is taking a more personal approach to PNW cuisine. Recently nominated one of the Top 50 Restaurants in the Country by the New York Times, Lilia offers dishes like Pork Collar Confit and fresh Aguachile, leaning on Chef Juan's Mexican-American roots while showcasing hyper-seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. The airy, unpretentious space and breezy patio befit the South Waterfront vibe.

Please note, our prices vary each week according to market price of local ingredients.

We offer a Chef's Selection menu that is a perfect meal for two. We also offer an a la carte menu.

Nice take on PNW-Mex fusion. Dishes were creative, nicely presented and full of flavor. The server was very personable and knowledgeable. All very good But the prices were outrageous. Even a couple of days later can't shake the feeling of just bring ripped off. The price for the tlayuda was astounding. If you are on an expense account or someone else's dime, go for it.

This is arguably the best meal I have had since I moved to Portland 2 years ago. So fresh, unique and every bite was so delicious. Dishes were unexpected with an interesting combination of seasonal ingredients from local farmers with a regional Mexican flair. Flavors were nuanced, complex, and service was excellent. Chef presented each dish with a story at the Chef’s counter and the bartender made us fabulous mocktails. Everyone was super nice.

First new restaurant in Portland since COVID that I texted my friends to rave about. When I looked at the menu I was a little depressed. Nothing seemed very unappealing. Wow! Was I wrong. We went with the tasting menu option and it was a revelation. The menu changes daily so I can’t recommend any dishes, but on the night I went the Oregon asparagus tlacoyo was fantastic, the halibut and radish was a halibut mouse on a house made blue corn tortilla chip with shaved and chunked radish that was so so good. And the broccoli was even better, almost Asian Mexican fusion served with crispy tofu and marinated onion. I would never have ordered any of those dishes a la carte and boy would I have missed out. Definitely one to try.
