What Insiders Are Saying
Whatever your restaurant need, Lil Frankie’s can probably solve it. This is the ultimate utility player.
The food was very good. There is better Italian food in the city, especially at that price point. But it is a great option for the neighborhood. The service was ok. The waiter rushed us through our meal and the noise level was loud. Overall, a good experience, but there is certainly better.
We’ve always enjoyed Lil Frankie’s. We’ve been there many times. However, it got noticeably more expensive since the last time we were there, and that disappointed both my husband and me. It wasn’t the great value it used to be. The mussel appetizer was wonderful, but the lemon pasta, a favorite of mine, was dry this time. The service was great. But I’m not sure it will continue to be our go-to downtown Italian, because of the price change.
The food was very good, but the service was not. I understand it was busy, but our appetizer was forgotten and when we asked for timing they said we never ordered it. Additionally, we asked several times for bread, but we never received any.
Best Italian in NYC. Chicken Parm was so good I got one to go!
We arrived and checked in for our reservation at 8:47 PM and were asked to wait several minutes for our table to be cleared. We waited for upwards of 10 minutes before a member of my party went to ask the hostess again if our table was ready.
After ordering our food took more than 40 minutes to get to us at the table and our waitress had only checked in with us once regarding the wait.
As soon as our food arrived, I saw that some of my pasta was clumpy and had been cooked without being stirred so it was stuck together, making it hard to eat.
Once we got the bill, we realized the menus that 3 out of 4 of our party members got had different pricing for the pasta we had ordered. One menu listed the Spaghetti al Limone at $14.95, another at $17.95 and the last at $20.95. We were charged $17.95 for it which worked out since that was the median range but it’s still frustrating that the actual price was wrong on some of the menus.
Besides that, the food was great, the wait staff was friendly and although the space was cramped, I know that’s a part of the authentic Italian ambiance.
Great food we enjoyed everything we ordered. Place is beautiful and service was great. I recommend this to anybody
Awesome as always
Great atmosphere and excellent food!
My cousin and I went to Lil' Frankies in hopes of finding some delicious Italian food at a reasonable price. We most certainly found what we were looking for and more. The service and ambiance were perfect and the food was no sooner brought to us then we had eaten it. The SPAGHETTI LIMONE and PORTOBELLO MUSHROOM AL FORNO were both amazing as was their chianti. I'll definitely be returning.
Best calamari ever. Awesome pizza. Pasta dissapointing.
Food is excellent but very noise and small space for each table
Food was delicious and delivered promptly. Service was a little rushed. It was definitely busy and they want to get as many people in as possible, but it felt like the pressure was on as soon as we sat down to order and eat everything as soon as possible. Overall a great experience and will be going back.
We beat the insane crowds by making a 5pm reservation and the food, as always, was amazinggggg!
Lovely ambiance, after reading the reviews however, I had higher expectations of the food. The complimentary bread that we had to ask for was a little stale and both the lemon spaghetti and meatball pasta lacked salt.
Young hipster scene. Tons of big parties. The customers sucked. The food was good.
Delicious, as always!!!!
Back for a second time this week!
This time for the kale caesar salad and the spaghetti limone!
It was my first time dinning at the restaurant, heard nothing but great things!
The spaghetti limone is soo good, I substituted for penne pasta : )
AMAZING!!! everything about this place was great! The homemade gnocchi, the pizza, the burrata, but by far the best calamari I have ever had. It was so fresh tasting & crispy, I've never had better! I loved this place!
The hype is real!! Best brain I’ve had in a long time
Loved the lemon pasta and eggplant was amazing.
The service was very attentive and fast
Sweet original NYC restaurant. Great for a traditional pizza experience in the city!
The food is great, but this place is very loud. They have parties in the back, but sit small tables there as well which is really not fair to the smaller tables because they squeeze three people into two person tables next to giant parties. You and/or the staff can’t walk by without shoving people in the tables. The noise level was so bad (even for NYC). I know they want to pack as many people in the place as possible, but if they are going to host parties they should reserve the entire area for those who want to be exposed to it (aka other large parties).
Make sure you have a lot of time to spend if eating dinner in the dining room. We waited over an hour for our meals to come out and it was a 5pm reservation! Food quality was good but slightly on the pricey sid.
New family favorite. Went Sunday with 4 people and then Monday with 7. Both nights were stellar.
Service was FAST and super friendly. Food was rock your socks off. Def would recommend getting plates to share so you can try everything. If you can, try to get a table in the back room with the plants or by the pasta kitchen. Super cool.
The pasta is al dente perfection. So fun to eat. Mouth feel was liiiiiiiit. Past/spagetti limone was so good I stole some from my mom on mother’s day.
Pizza was cooked to greatness. Oven is incredible. They do this whole eggplant that I think gets cooked in the pizza oven; awesome awesome. Put it in right when you sit down cause it takes a hot sec.
Pizza is amazing! Very pricey though
This place never disappoints. Must get: spaghetti Limone pasta!!!
Overall, the food was pretty good but our waiter (or lack of waiter) ruined our experience. The waiter did not know the specials and didn’t have the print outs so we had to get up and memorize the specials written on the chalkboard (da fuq). Then he disappeared after handing us our bottle of wine. Also, the prices on their website aren’t the actual prices so bring more cash. I wouldn’t come back as I wasn’t blown away by the food and would gladly spend another $10 for a much better entree and experience.
I always love going to Lil Frankie’s! It is my go-to recommendation for dinner and it never lets me down! The food is always delicious, service is good, great options for wine. Their staple menu has delicious options but the specials are always outstanding. It is loud in there for a small space but I personally do not mind it. I will keep coming back!
This is a tiny place in a very old building. The pizza was pretty good but the noise level was intolerable!
Placed in the front section of the restaurant, which wasn't great.
Big birthday party group - took a long time for us to get drinks - we were all confused about who was our server and who was just bringing/busing drinks. 20% gratuity factored in. Wound up being $55/person for shared pizza, shared salads and 1-2 drinks per person.
Food was great as was service, but wasn’t very happy with table location (right next to the kitchen) especially given I had made a reservation beforehand.
Poor service. Very slow and had an early dinner at 645. Food was good but price was too much for service quality. Cash only
Possibly the best pizza I ever had! Also recommend the fire roasted eggplant
We had fun there and the food was really great. I recommend this restaurant.
Fantastic food. Service was incredibly slow. It took 25 minutes for a server to take our drink orders and we had to wait 40+ minutes for the check to come out, with our server no where to be found.
