Lidia's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We celebrated two 30th birthdays tonight. We had two children and four adults. Service was slow and food varied from ho hum cannelloni to outstanding (fish soup). Good selection on wine from value menu...but is $35 a bottle really a value? Appreciated free desserts for honorees! But, there are so many exceptional places to eat in the city and for the $250 we could have done a lot better. Prices are really high compared to similar places in the city.
We came here once before and had a spectacular experience but this time fell quite short.
Service: Our waiter David did not ask us if we wanted to.order drinks and I had to bring it up myself when he prompted us for our entree order! He told us of the pasta trio selections but completely failed to mention the other specials. After we had already ordered I overheard "seared ahi" from the table next to us and realized there might have been some specials that I'd have been interested in ordering. Finally my husband ordered a.second beer in the middle of our meal when asked, but it was not delivered until the end of our meal. Our waiter did apologize for the delay, though.
Food: The pasta trio selections were amazing last time but it seems like they were rushed in this busy Saturday evening. The spinach fettuccine lacked salt and the ravioli was waterlogged as if it were not properly drained after cooking. The penne with meat sauce was very ordinary tasting, completely mediocre compared to the amazing marinara we had last time. My lasagna was very good, though. The key lime pie meringue for dessert was also good.
We will probably give this place one more try since we had such a good meal the first time, but we will try to avoid busy weekend evenings.
Ate lunch here several times and always had the Sarme. First time for dinner, wife had Sarme and I tried the Padta Trio. Past was somewhat underwhelming. The ravioli was very good, the fettuccine was overwhelming with parsley and that was the only flavor coming through. The penne was good but the sauce was almost non existent. Sarme was top notch as usual.
We went here a few weeks ago, just the 2 of us and we're blown away by how delicious the food, how great the service and atmosphere. Decided to take a party of 6 for a friend's birthday. Had to wait over 30 minutes beyond reservation time, not Lidia's fault. They comped drinks, but friends weren't thrilled. Food was good. I love this place, beautiful atmosphere.
Out of a party of 6 only one person enjoyed their meal. They under cook my steak then over cooked it, so that’s what I get for ordering steak at an Italian restaurant. BUT If you’re going to charge $55 for steak you better have a cook that can cook it. They actually compensated me for my meal which was nice, but I was just disappointed that this was my daughter’s birthday dinner and she had to get her meal compensated as well 😕 The pasta dishes they served were very dry and had no flavor, unfortunately I can’t recommend this restaurant.
Our first visit was last year and it was very good, so being in KC again this year, we were looking forward to visiting again. We had an 8:15pm reservation for four but we did not get seated until 8:35. The restaurant was busy but the hosts did not acknowledge that our reservation was running late. I shared a mixed green salad to start and it was served on two plates which was appreciated. However, the dressing was watery and the greens were wilted. There were three orders of the trio tasting and they started the servings very soon after the salad plates were cleared. The first tasting was a ravioli which was very good, however the second tasting which was a spaghetti with shrimp was over cooked. It seemed like the pasta had been sitting in the pan. The third tasting was a rigatoni with sausage and broccoli rabe and that was good. Meanwhile, the fourth member of our party waited for the gnocchi with duck ragout a solid 20 minutes after the table started their tasting. No complaints about the waitstaff... just disappointed that the food didn’t meet our expectations from our first experience. Perhaps it was an off night in the kitchen. If we are ever in KC again, we would probably give Lidia’s another try.
We always enjoy Lydias, but unfortunately our recent visit wasn't the exceptional service and experience we remember. In the past we always were seated in the main dining area with the blown glass fixtures but this time we were in a separate area off the main dining area. Unfortunately it didnt have the same feel or character. Also our waiter wasn't very friendly and seemed to be overbooked. At one point 3 out of 4 of us had empty drink glasses. Pasta trio was good, but the overall dining experience wasn't great.
They jammed too many tables in there, it was not comfortable to sit and relax. The noise level was ridiculous, everyone was talking over each other. I couldn’t have a nice quiet dinner for my anniversary. We were anxious to get out. Otherwise the food and service were great!
Everything was wonderful but they were doing remodel on the restrooms so they had a portable trailer set up out front that was a cross between a porta potty and an airplane lavatory. Not pleasant, wobbly steps in the dark and very inconvenient. I think that whole situation could have been better thought out.
We drove up from Wichita and if I had known we would have rescheduled.
There were 4 in our party...Sunday brunch and not at all busy (appreciated the low level noise).. Food was good...shank abit on the dry side but tasty..my pasta was delish...enjoyed all the table options before entree and desserts...I love the darker interior and low lights..very Italian .
We definitely will be back for our 4th visit....
Salmon was extremely well done and the beets salad was lacking. My daughter's grilled cheese was so tall and over toasted she couldn't eat it without tearing up her mouth.
The service was wonderful, though. Our waiter was prompt and helpful. He was able to recommend a great wine.
We went for a special occasion and made a reservation (recommended). We got there early and went to the bar for a drink. The table was ready before we were done at the bar, so they held it for us until we were ready.
Food was awesome.
Prices were reasonable for a date or special occasion.
