Lidia's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
quite honestly, this was disappointing. we have dined several times at Lidia's and were quite pleased. that said, it appears that they are no longer up to restaurant week. lamb and pork were overdone and dry, the pasta trio was not up to their standard, but the fish was great. martini and wine were first rate also.
This was our last stop for restaurant week, so we returned to a place we call one of our favorites in Kansas City. It had been a while since we had visited, but the two of us were a little put off by the fact that we felt as if we were sharing a table with the people next to us since the tables were so close together. I am not sure if that was to maximize the number of people that could attend during restaurant week, but it felt cramped. However, that was quickly forgotten when the food started to arrive. We both started with panelle-sicilian chick pea fritters as our appetizer which was served toasty warm. It was delicious. We then had the famous pasta trio for our entree which were three very different dishes. The first was a spinach and ricotta ravioli, the second was shrimp and farfalle and the last one was a flat noodle with bolognese sauce. Each offering its own flavors and spices. We ended with a milk chocolate torta with peanut butter mousse for dessert. We opted for the half glass wine tour that complimented each of the 3 courses. The servers did a nice job keeping us happy. Once again, the food is the reason this is one of our favorites in Kansas City.
Lidia’s is always a nice place to dine.
Even though it was Restaurant Week and very crowded for lunch (they were on an hour wait), we were seated right away.
Our server was knowledgeable and did a very nice job for our party of four.
The pasta trio was fun and quiye tasty.
The fritters were a bit bland as was the bean soup, but the bread and 2 spreads were good as usual.
We wnjoyed the 3 course wine pairing and the dessert was very good.
Beautiful restaurant. Get ambiance and service. But every time I go the food it bland. Every time I tell myself try it again because it is such a nice restaurant. Then every time the food falls short and flat. I know other people that love this restaurant. Maybe it’s about finding and getting the right thing on the menu. The Pro was, The bar menu and wine selection are nice.
A group went for restaurant week lunch. The people who ordered the pasta trio really liked their food the sandwiches and turkey meatballs were just ok. Should have know better when one goes to Lidias, order pasta.
We were a group of 6 so we had a table on the perimeter and it was very nice. Smaller tables tend to be too close together and the noise level can be a problem.
The food was great and our waiter did a good job. We had a reservation for 12:30 and arrived at 12:25. We did not get a table until 12:57 due to getting skipped over for some reason. It was a just a table for 2.
Was not pleased about that but the rest of the experience was good
It is restaurant week here in KC so I will cut Lydia's some slack. I wish I had NOT ordered the pasta trio. The pasta was overcooked and a little tepid. Probably just because it was busy. Love the decor but hard to have a conversation in the big room. Our server was great.
We were unable to make our usual Christmas trip to Crown center this year. We finally scheduled the time, and had our late celebration. We had brunch at Lidia's the year that we got engaged. We were with other couples, and when we left, we picked out our wedding rings. Our marriage is not the first for either of us. We are both in our sixties, and still feel the romance every time we think of Lidia's. We are working on six years of marriage and Lidia's will always hold a special place in our hearts. The food is delicious, and the ambience is wonderful. Thank you!
This is our favorite special occasion restaurant. The food is beyond delicious. The atmosphere is cozy, romantic, warm and inviting. The menu has high end Italian dishes that always exceed our expectations. The staff is friendly, efficient and informed. Any question, they are able to answer. In our opinion - the best Italian in Kansas City
The food was absolutely fantastic and there was a lot of friendly staff that was looking for ways to help. My only complaint was that our specific server was very rude. It was a busy day and she may have been stressed, but her tone was harsh always and her word choice was not pleasant.
Restaurant week brought us, but only one of the group went off the special menu. The Sunday Sauce was great, as was the Gnocchi I sampled. The waitress did a great job and gave us our space without making us feel forgotten.
Unfortunately, the waitress pushed the "signature pasta trio". These dishes, served table side, were very underwhelming and were only lightly touched by the table. Luckily, my girlfriend didn't go hungry as the other entrees at the table were more than enough for one person.
Overall, a fun experience with great wine and (mostly) good food. It was also more affordable than I had been led to believe. I will probably return to try some other menu options.
Well I got put in a back table to start and my waitress came to the table next to me 3 times without even asking if I needed anything. I ordered a baileys and coffee and the amount of baileys was not even enough to flavor the coffee and it cost 10.50 and my date ordered a class of wine served in a champagne glass which is not even the size of a glass for wine. I then sat there and she was not even refilling my coffee so I ordered tea and never even got a refill on my tea. We both ordered the trio pasta as not once did they even come by to see if we wanted even more. When someone spends 100.00 on dinner you would think you would get the service to go along with it. I did tip 10 dollars in which I now wish I had left nothing and I normally tip 20-25%. This was the worst service I have Ever received at a place that is supposed to be a NICE place to eat. My reservation was a 4:30 timeslot on Sunday in which they were not busy. Last of all I called the manager at 11am on Monday and was told he was too busy to come to the phone so I left my number and no call back. I wish I had not went there and be assured they will never get my business again. I sure would like to hear from the manager or Lidia herself but I am sure that won’t happen. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Regards Michael
I love Lidia’s. I have been going there for 10 years now and it never disappoints. I highly recommend the pasta trio. The pear ravioli is magnificent. & it makes for great leftovers. Go on Sunday for brunch for sugar butter - it will change your life. The atmosphere is great, friendly staff, and delicious food.
