This was my 4th experience at Lidia. As always food is excellent with creative ideas and beautiful Italian cuisine. On this occasion we had the three pasta special and they were all delicious. We had a really nice sorbet and ice cream dessert that topped off a great evening. Wine value was very good for the money., the only negative on this experience was the Caesar salad had way too much lemon, not enough garlic and really was not as special as it has been in the past. Sometimes the service neglected us back in the corner but overall none of these experiences were show Stoppers.
We had not been to Lidias since our last visit which was probably 4 years ago. On this visit, the ambiance was great, and the food was good. However, we did not care for our server. We were a party of 6 and moved tables upon arriving, because the table was shoved into a corner, and I knew I wasn't going to be comfortable there. They moved us with no problem, but then the server kept mentioning how we moved. He told us he had to get settled, talk to the hostess, check to see if it was ok, blah blah... We don't care what has to be done. That is not our problem. In the end, the wine was excellent and the food was ok, and I would go back but make sure not to get him as a server (and probably wouldn't bring my kids there because their food came out last, after I said to bring it out first).
Great place and great value for a top end restaurants. Felidias in Manhattan costs double.
Gnocchi way overcooked and oversauced. Good appetizers and salads.
Very nice. We didn’t feel rushed. Our server was very attentive.
Had the $35 special. Every homemade bite was delicious. Pricey for pasta BUT this is not an ordinary meal.
I feel that I can cook her food better following the recipes in her books than by going to the source.
We had a wonderful meal celebrating our son's engagement to his beautiful girlfriend. The staff was accommodating, attentive, and expert. The meal was exceptional!
The food is only matched in quality by the incredible service. A good variety of products available and all made with quality ingredients, enough to satisfy anyone's taste. I am partial to the 'Trio' and enjoy tasting several varieties. That they will continually re-fill your favorites is a plus. A 'must' restaurant on anyone's itinerary for lunch or dinner whether you live in Pittsburgh or are just visiting.
My mom and I came into town to meet our cousins for a concert Saturday night. The two of us decided to have a nice brunch before we headed back to NY. This was the best choice of our weekend !!
Went for Sunday Brunch. Everything was terrific. We are always pleased with Lidia’s.
As always Lidia’s did not disappoint! We enjoyed our meal . We brought some friends this time first time they had ever been there . They loved it ! Had to send my lasagna back because it was cold but it came back nice and hot. One thing I would like to suggest is that when serving the pasta trio fresh grated cheese should be offered with being asked . We also enjoyed a drink at the bar before dinner . The bartender was great . We love Lidia’s and make it a point to eat there whenever we are in Pittsburgh!
Excellent food and service!
Good food, for the most part, but pricey. The whole place seems to be going through the motions. Unfortunate.
Celebrating two Birthdays. Dinner was wonderful. Service extraordinary!
We visited while on a weekend getaway in Pittsburgh. The room is very nice, the food great, and the staff was superb. Certainly not an inexpensive meal, but still a good value overall.
Everything was Outstanding. Service and food amazing!!!!
Went with some colleages, based on a recommendation from people at the hotel. It was perfect. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The service was impeccable without being intrusive. The room was lovely. I would definitely go again.
After watching Lidia on Public Television for years, this visit to Lidia’s was the highlight of a trip from Western New York to South Carolina. We ordered the luncheon menu. The salads were excellent. I loved the beet and blood orange while my husband enjoyed the Caesar. The salmon and tenderloin were done beautifully and the desserts completed a very enjoyable meal. We liked being able to try the various ice creams and cookies. I do not like coffee so the espresso on the ice cream went to my husband.
While I had the best eggplant ever, my friend’s pasta was not as good. Overall, a good meal.
Have been to this restaurant many times. On our most recent visit, the pasta trio and salads were as always...very good. Very disappointed in the cocktails and wines...not so much anything to do with the taste as my cocktail was very good. However, the actual volume of the cocktail was really under-whelming. A manhattan had less than 1/3 of the glass in the pour with wines being maybe slightly better. Since I enjoy my pre-meal cocktail and wine with dinner, how about (as an option) charging more and providing more!!!! Current situation is not good!!
Superior food and service. We are lucky to have a restaurant of this caliber in our midst!
Uninspired service and mediocre food at best.
Great Service and amazing food!!
Visiting from out of town. The food is worth raving over, the service was exceptional. If your in Pittsburgh, this is the place for Italian.
Pasta was fresh and delicious. Service was attentive at the right moments, not overbearing. Restaurant was busy with plenty of background noise, but we could carry on conversation at quiet volume and still hear each other well. Wine flight was not worth the price. Tiramisu was light and scrumptious.
Excellent Italian food. Fresh pasta is delicious, desserts are wonderful. Extensive Italian wine list.
Our second visit, great dinner, attentive service, lovely atmosphere.
Dinner was fine. Service was diligent. I'm knowledgeable on Italian wine. Their list (at least the red on which I concentrated) had a lot of unfamiliar names. Then they ran out of the one I knew and liked. I finally took a chance on a Vino Nobile and it worked out.
I think restaurants should keep their wine lists up to date. If a wine is sold out, they should put a little blank sticker over the price which is a sign that it is not available. Then you don't have to go through the process of thinking about a wine you like; be disappointed it's out ; and then have to wait to reselect and for the server to get another. By this time the first course has been served. I like to have my wine right with the food.
A modest flaw; the evening was nice. Best pasta around.
A wonderful first visit! We enjoyed the homemade pasta, comfortable, classy ambiance, attentive staff, and timely meal service. Our server even surprised me with a thoughtful birthday platter of house made cookies and pastries.
Dined at Lidia's for my Dad's birthday. Sunday brunch, 1:30pm, a prix fix menu at $30 per person. We were five of about 20 patrons and the service seemed very slow. Servers were polite and courteous when they were there but we waited quite a bit between visits, especially given the number of customers. Maybe understaffed.
Brunch was delicious
The food was fantastic and the wait staff was wonderful. The burrata appetizer was
scrumptious. My wife loved the pollo al limone and I thoroughly enjoyed the braized
Lidia's is huge, a cavernous room partitioned into sections for special parties, even on the main floor. The noise level is almost unbearable; don't go there thinking you'll have a quiet evening with your partner, is more like joining a festivity in progress. The wait staff are well-meaning, but unskilled and untrained. Unlike Italian waiters, they are obtrusive and bothersome in an attempt to be attentive. The food is so-so, generally overcooked, whether it's pasta or lobster. We didn't, but it seems that many people go for the pasta selection, which is reasonably priced, but tends to be heavy and overdone (based on our previous experiences). We chose entrees from the menu, an eggplant dish and a lobster over polenta dish. The lobster was overcooked, and therefore tough, but the sauce and polenta were well-balanced and flavorful. The eggplant was unremarkable. For that and one glass of wine, we paid $100, quite out of line with the quality, service, and atmosphere.
We felt that the portions were small. The menu options are limited. Would definitely go to a different restaurant for Italian food.
Our food was very good and the Bastianich wines were lovely. Excellent service and atmosphere. A great evening.
A real treat to get back there again... We had the pasta trio and shared a very generous caesar salad and then Cannoli for dessert. Everything was deliciously prepared and nicely served by friendly wait staff
Very good food and service, extremely nice dining room. Not too dark, and relatively quiet. Tri-pasta special was nice, and waiter made sure I had all I wanted. Wife enjoyed her beef short ribs. A nice value for quality food.
Great food, great service. Will be returning for sure!
