Lidia’s Pittsburgh opened in March of 2001, only two years after Lidia Bastianich and her son Joseph Bastianich opened the popular Lidia’s Kansas City, their first venture outside of Manhattan.

Lidia’s Pittsburgh menu concept is a combination of the New York restaurants, Felidia and Becco.

Lidia's is located downtown in the strip district near the Heinz History Center, Benedum Center, Heinz Hall, Byham Theater, PNC Park, and PPG Paints Arena so it's the perfect place to enjoy a great meal before your event.

The menu features a daily pasta tasting, with homemade pastas that incorporate the season's freshest ingredients in addition to hearty Italian favorites such as the osso bucco, a braised heritage pork shank with barley risotto, the scallopine of chicken breast with roasted lemon, capers, and olives, and grilled salmon filet with seasonal contorni.

the food was mediocre; my entree came to the table cold, needed to send back; pasta did not have much flavor; service was fair - not high on my list to return

Loved Lidia’s in Pittsburgh. The food, ambiance, and service was wonderful. Fined on a Friday evening with 3 other ladies who loved the experience. We all sampled the pasta trio and calamari. Sheer perfection. So glad we came.

Parking in this area has become horrible. I hope the dining locations can adjust. The section needs a 20 floor parking garage.

I believe our waitress did everything she could to satisfy Us but she received no support from the kitchen. I made the reservation for 11 of us and the service was so slow I was embarrassed. I had several of our company executives in attendance and they weren’t pleased . She mentioned that she would have the managers stop over but that did not happen.
I have used LYDIA‘s each time I have a group coming into town and have always been satisfied. That’s why this was such a surprise. The only reason we got was that you were not that busy typically on a Monday night. As I said we did have a reservation. I would like some assurance that this will not happen again if I continue to use LYDIA says might go to restaurant for the first night of an event.

Went for the Sunday brunch and it was amazing. Had the grilled octopus and it tasted like shrimp out was so good. Server suggested abs so glad he did. It was sweet yet slightly salty and the texture was not gummy it was perfect not overly firm. Like perfectly done shrimp. I was floored about how good or was. Other 2 in my party had the pasta trio. The goat chesse and chive was light and delicious. The pesto was good and the "ragu" was really tasty. They had about 4 servings since it's all you can eat on the pasta. The buffet had so many choices between salads dinner foods and of course desserts. The bread is out of this world and the provide 3 different flavored butters on the table.

I loved the special pasta dish with a sampling of 3 of the chef's daily pasta specials. It was a great way to try different dishes. The atmosphere is nice for a date night.

The food was fantastic, portions were generous. I definitely didn't leave hungry. My server Lorie was OUTSTANDING! She was extremely helpful and made recommendations that made my meal decision so much easier. I will definitely go back again when I'm in town visiting.

The restaurant was crowded. Our server rushed. We got no bread even when we asked for it. The carbonara listed in the website menu was not offered anymore. The pasta sampler was mostly vegetarian. This was not clear from the menu. The food was just fine. We expected something better dor the name and the price.

Our party of 4 had a wonderful experience. All of our entrees were excellent, as were the appetizers. Casey, our server, was a delight. She was very knowledgeable about the menu items. She was there when we needed her, but did not hover. Had a really nice time.

I have always recommended Lidia's for someplace special to go and it was special in the past, but has become less so. I have never had a bad meal. The environment isn't what it once was and I feel someone has lost the attention to detail.

We planned to stop in Pittsburg and go to Lidia's restaurant. We have been planning since last year. In the way back to Toronto Canada from our condo in West Palm Beach FL, we booked a hotel in Pittsburg so we could go to Lidia's.
The experience was good, but not what we expected. The restaurant was very nice decorated but very big, lacking the warmth of a cosy Italian restaurant. The food was good but not very Italian, I expected a more home stile taste, same as her cooking show.
I am a native Italian and I am very aware of the true Italian cuisine.
This cuisine was more Americanized. Also the restaurant is listed as a $$$, should be a $$$$, and the wine was very expensive starting at $55
For a bottle of basic wine. We ordered two glasses of Chianti at $9 each for about 3 ounces of wine in each glass. The service was a bit slow, overall was ok. I also like to add that there is only valley parking at the restaurant.
The last dinner we had at the Bellagio in west Palm Beach, was a superb experience, true Italian flavor, with in house Calabrese bread, and they paid for our parking. The basic wine there was$36 per bottle.
Will I return to Lidia's, probably not.
I like my home cooking made from Lidia's recipes better Lol

Our server was wonderful and was able to accomodate my vegan companion. However, my entree must have been under the warmer much longer than hers and had slightly cooled and the cheese on top had hardened.

We had a nice meal at Lydia's. I ordered the lasagna and it was excellent. The portion was large enough for 2 meals. My husband had the eggplant parmesan which was good. We ordered the barata for an appetizer and it was fair, as well as the arugula salad. The dessert we had was the apple crostada. It was disappointing. We should have ordered the tiramisu. From this experience, Lydia's pastas seem to be a sure bet and we should stick with that!

Lidia’s was not busy on Tuesday, 4 tables only and a handful at the bar. Initial impression was fine but when seated, the extended wait began and carried on. One would have thought the restaurant was very crowded or the wait staff was not trained properly. When waited on, we were asked to order only, not asked for drinks. It seemed as if we were being shuffled along. At that point we left and will not return.

Truly disappointing! I always look up The Food Network featured restaurants when we go to new places. We were traveling through Pitt and thought we would try Lidia’s. I looked up reviews and was surprised that many people were not impressed. I thought maybe they weren’t what I would consider “foodies”, or maybe not as travelled. My thinking was that The Food Network would not associate themselves with a mediocre establishment. I regret not listening to the reviews because everything they said is true. Service was extremely slow, food was nothing special, it was not worth my time and money. I would never go back nor recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Superb food, wonderful service, and an exceptional overall experience. The quality of the Italian cooking is outstanding; it will transport you to Italy, because Lidia and her incredible team know what they are doing. My friends raved about the things they were eating: light and melting gnocchi, perfectly-prepared eggplant, a really delicious steak. The servers make you feel like your party is not just special, but super-special. I brought a gang of non-Pittsburghers and it made me proud to be able to show off my impressive hometown to them in one stop.

I had heard mixed reviews about Lidia's but decided to try it while my family was visiting and staying at the Hampton Inn which is just a couple blocks away. It was a Saturday night and very busy and the service was slow. The waiter was very nice and apologetic about the slow service but it was unfortunate. The atmosphere is not my style. It a huge dining area with lots of tables, not intimate or cozy or even very inviting. The food varied. We liked the fried seafood (fritto misto) and octopus appetizers. The flatbread and Caesar salad were just okay. The carbonara was the best entree dish. The eggplant dish was okay. The ziti & meatballs was not very good - overcooked pasta and dry, tasteless meatballs. Desserts were Tiramisu and cannoli and those were just mediocre. I'm not sure why some people rave about this restaurant. You'd get better Italian at some of the take-out shops around.
