Very pleasant and friendly server, although she appeared quite hurried and would dash away sometimes before we could make a request. My friend and I had lots to catch up on, and we spent almost 4 pleasant hours, not feeling rushed which we appreciated. We appreciated having the split sandwich order served on two plates. I don't like the coating on the sweet potato fries....

Love the old vibe and have been coming for years at Christmas.
The price of drinks is ridiculous. I know it’s in a Historic Hotel - but you don’t need to charge those prizes.
Food is good - not o/s. It’s the ambience that makes it.
Also food brought in from hallway from washrooms was a bit odd. Saw some plates waiting the be served on my way out of washroom. Hopefully when u renovate - that will change.

Always a classic experience at the Library Bar...top notch service, attentive without being intrusive, drinks and food of high quality, and the old school ambiance with lots of soft surfaces to reduce the noise (unlike some more "modern" places with stone and glass where you can't hear your friend across the table). Taking the train to Toronto and walking across the street and staying at the Royal York and visiting the Library Bar is a no brainer. And the lobby Christmas displays are fun...mostly watching the kids and tourists enjoy them. Make a reservation though as it can be very busy and walk ins will be waiting a while.

Service here was great, food not so much. The Prime Rib sandwich sounded great on the menu but what came out looked like pot roast. They were out of the beer I asked for so I substituted a mediocre salad and soda.

I would like to ask that instead of the very HARD, dry rolls , a softer, more delicious bread or rolls be served. It almost hurts the jaws to try and tear and chew those hard rolls. The cheese on the onion soup was too chewy and very hard to eat. This could be improved.

We went to afternoon tea with a reservation For 2:45. We were seated promptly. Our server was good. We ordered a glass of champagne before ordering our tea. A hostess came by and told us we had to hurry up because we didn’t have long and would have to leave by 4:30 Really! Well we ordered and much to our disapppointment the sandwiches were very small and stale. The bread was dried out and the desserts we couldn’t eat. One square cake was so dried out and hard. While we were eating the hostess comes by again and told us this was our “15 minute warning” as we would have to leave. We paid our bill and had to leave and finish our drink outside the restaurant. The only good thing about the experience was the ambience. I emailed them directly twice rather put on public site but nobody bothered to respond. Obviously they don’t care.

always exceptional and made to feel most welcome. I applaud Marina the hostess who always has my favorite table waiting without asking. Also the server CJ (Chris) was very attentive and professional. An added and pleasant touch was a personalized reserved card with my name on it. That touched me. Will be back on the 28th for another visit.

I have been a big supporter of Library Bar since 2005. I recommend it to every colleague looking for a suitable venue for a business meal. And I personally continue to visit, every chance I get.
On this occasion, I was dining with and introducing The Library Bar to a colleague who had never dined here and I was excited to create yet another fan.
Unfortunately, as we were walking back after the meal, she told me that the Falafel sandwich she chose, was really lacking in any flavour. I myself have never tried it...I am loyal to the Prime Rib.
I felt terrible that she didn’t enjoy her meal but as always, mine was great and the service and ambiance, excellent!

The Library bar is pretty standard for Fairmont. The location is on the first floor so you’re not privy to any spectacular view but the interior definitely does give off an old timey library feel. Service was good and volume was pretty low considering the place had quite a few high tea reservations. The sandwiches tasted good for the most part (I personally don’t like the queens favourite sandwich). All in all a great time but my only qualm is that I always wish the scones were just a tad bit bigger! They used to be but now they’re just tiny little bite sizes portions.

This used to be our favorite restaurant, until the menu totally changed. I looked it up on the web before we went, and there were so many things I was looking forward to eating, I thought I'd have problems deciding. Then, we discovered the menu was not the same. The food we ordered was disgusting. We left more than half uneaten. The place was still packed because the atmosphere is lovely, but that was the last time we are eating there. Get a new menu and chef!

Went to the afternoon tea and didn't find it that wonderful. It's very little food for $55 per person. I have had afternoon tea elsewhere and you get better value at other places. I would skip this one unless you don't mind spending $$$$$ for 4 super small finger sandwiches and 2 tiny scones and 4 tiny desserts and a pot of tea. Just a little underwhelming. I was definitely not impressed.

The service and food were excellent. Our server was Christopher and he did an excellent job. My two friends and I arrived in Canada 52 years ago, and on the ship coming over the talk was all about the Royal York - hence the choice of venue for our celebratory lunch! The server was really really nice. The sandwiches and dessert were stale. They brought my tea out luke warm, and the tea leaves couldnt steep properly. The service was extremly slow, took me 10 mins to waive someone down to add hot water to my teapot. The ambience smelled like mold - not appealing at all. Way over priced for what it's worth. Much better places in Toronto for high tea. This place did not live up to luxury standards, more like a hole in the wall.

My mom and her two friends had an absolute blast have ranted and raved about the level of service of all of the staff.
Their waiter was very attentive and friendly. They especially enjoyed speaking with Ilda who was part of the staff.
The food was fresh, and beautifully presented- and the quality was top notch.
Noteworthy mentions are the burata and the crab cakes.
Thank you for providing a beautiful desert tray for Jill’s birthday - the little touches truly go a long way in making a dining experience memorable.
I am told that they now want to make the library bar a monthly event.

Always a pleasure at the Library Bar and that is why we return. Always graciously greeted by Marina "the hostess with the mostest" and the service provided by Christopher (CJ) was excellent and very attentive. Food was excellent and did not feel rushed.
