We had a reservation for 3 for 9 am breakfast on Saturday Jul 13. As we were waiting at the front door for Liberty Bar to open, a woman on the other side of the door appeared and unlocked the door. She didn’t seem to acknowledge our presence and did not greet us or hold the door open for us. It was a little confusing, but we opened the door and let ourselves in. When we entered she again made no attempt to greet us, and just proceeded to seat us. Only once we were seated did she ask for our reservation information. I’m not really sure what the problem was, but if that is her normal attitude, I wouldn’t have her greeting your customers.
Our server, however, was very friendly and professional.
Perfect location....met the owner on the way in to the restaurant....amazing food.....we were upstairs sat with a group of 6 and really enjoyed our time there....I will bring my team back next time we are in San Antonio.....
Food was just not tasty. We order two of the specialty plates it was nothing special. Would rather eat elsewhere
I'm really disappointed I didn't order the Kale Chips. They looked so good. We did order the Minguichi (Queso) and it was delicious. I highly recommend it. We also had the Garlic Pork Sausage Links with Mashed Potatoes and it was very good as well. There seemed to be quite a few regulars, which is always a good thing. The bartenders were friendly and the rest of the staff seemed very nice. I love how you can see into the kitchen. Those guys can pump out some food. I definitely recommend this restaurant for a date night or a business meeting.
IHOP makes better eggs and bacon!!!! Now I know why it was so easy to get a reservation for brunch. The worst brunch experience we’ve had living in SA over ten years. Eggs were not cooked as requested and over cooked with brown crispy edges and grease marks, bacon was way over cooked with no flavor, French toast was burnt on end, $2 avocado had brown spots and food was not hot. Server had zero personality or care. Bacon was delivered on its own plate with remaining food coming out over a five minute period at different times. Window ledges dirty and hair in menu. Just awful!
Wonderful brunch with our family! Great service and food!
Met friends we dont see often. Loved the building and its history. Server was knowledgeable and friendly and personable. Great choices on menu.
My food was wonderful. However, my guest had the pot roast and it was so tough that even after bringing it home and cooking it for an hour it was too tough to eat.
Great service. Happy hour prices were very reasonable for apps and drinks. Bartender could work a bit on his old fashion (made twice one # 1 had a heavy pour of Rye # 2 had a heavy pour of bitters)
Really like this place a LOT
It was great, the only thing I missed was the music. We had been there a few weeks ago and the music was so nice.
Great place to enjoy some good food and enjoyable atmosphere.
Excellent as always
Great spot in Southtown, especially for a weekend evening. Great vibe in the upstairs bar with great drink choices. Wife has a cucumber martini which was very good. The menu was unique and creative. Something for everyone.
Ambiance and food were incredible. For anyone celebrating a birthday, do not bring your own cake to the restaurant because there is a hefty charge ($25)! Apart from that, everything was lovely.
When we arrived, which was later than I'd typically eat, but we were coming after a show, the only seating was upstairs in a small room by the bar. I'd booked based on the descriptions' promise of high ceilings and lovely vibe, but frankly we could have walked into any of the nearby bars and received the same (and probably would have gotten a drink sooner than 22 mins. after seating). Food and drinks were good.
My favorite local spot for a homey dinner. The menu is diverse, my favorite things are the goat cheese appetizer and the grilled veggie plate
Not as good as it’s been in the past...seems like it’s going down.
Enjoyed our evening of socializing with tasty food and excellent drinks. Service was friendly and responsive. Will definitely go again!
Lemme just say that Brunch here is awesome.
But my dinner experience was very so so. Service was sluggish and the food was bland. Took way too long to bring a simple juice for my kiddo. It actually arrived after diner did. That was even asking another server to bring. Not impressed with the dinner ambiance here. Spoke to other friends who have eaten here so much the same thought.
Loved it! Even went twice in one week. I especially liked the hazelnut salad. The lamb, however, was mediocre. Suggest you get New Zealand or Australian lamb.
The restaurant is beautiful but the service was so disappointing. Our server was painfully unfriendly and not personable at all. We felt like he just wanted us to eat and get out of there. He didn't even greet us, just asked for our drink order, then he brought us a coffee without a spoon and brought one over when I asked him for one. My husband ordered a coffee after that and he brought his without a spoon as well. Just no attention to detail and not service oriented at all. The food was good but nothing to make me want to come back given the experience we had. Also, there are no changing tables in the bathroom, which is just ridiculous. The only pleasant person we came across was the gentleman who seemed to be the manager that morning greeting at the top of the stairs and expediting. Liberty Bar could be such a wonderful experience with the beautiful building and good menu but service is what is comes down to and they're clearly struggling.
Don’t seat guests who take the time to make reservations next to a party of 30 who can’t regulate their noise level.
Had nine family for a celebration - food was beautifully done and the service was superb
Our Server Danielle was great! Thank you for making our experience wonderful!
The Puntas Norteñas plate was brilliant and the service was warm and friendly!
I’m ready for Liberty Bar to change it up. Shake it up with some ambiance. I feel like it’s halfway effort.
Food was ok. Pizza was good. The famous goat cheese app was too much food. Bread should be toasted more, thinner slices too. Maybe a sprinkle of salt.
Sandwich I ordered was all bread. Thin that stuff up - I ordered a sandwich not a breadwich. Same bread from app is used on apps.
All in all I want to like the place, been going there for years, even with change of location, I just feel it needs to be jazzed up.
Service was great!
James was the perfect waiter. The food was exceptional. The noise level was low and the atmosphere chill yet elegant.
Lamb sausage was & potatoes was bland. Shrimp & spicy red sauce seemed like jar sauce.
Chicken with cabbage - chicken was dry.
Wine selection was good and waitress was nice.
Coconut cake was dry and pecan pie was terrible.
Loved the layout and ambience. Great food
Liberty Bar is my favorite place for breakfast and dinner. Chili Relleno En Nogada and their French toast are amazingly delectable.
Amazing brunch! It's a beautiful old building. I always love my meals here. The weekend mimosa deal is superb.
We have been going to Liberty since they’re in the original location by the Pearl Brewery.
The staff are always friendly and give such a great service! Food is always fantastic!
Happy hour is a must especially on Monday for there half price wine bottle.
Th house-made fettuccine with spicy shrimp was excellent, as was the chicken Hoja Santa and mixed green salad. The key-lime chess pie was luscious and the house-made mango ice cream was, too. Service was friendly and attentive. Overall, a great meal at a very reasonable price in a charming former convent.
Great quality of food and drinks very well priced.
Very good experience. Our waiter was very attentive and offered the specials of the day. The food was delicious and came out very quickly (breakfast items). On the negative side, the Mimosa was very small compared to the price and other establishments. Food could have been a little warmer. But all together the experience was very positive and we will definitely go again.
We ate at Liberty Bar 3 times during our one week vacation. Each time we were made to feel very welcome. We received quick, efficient, and friendly service each time.
Server not the friendliest, but food was good and it is a fun place for brunch
It's been a while since our group was at Liberty Bar, but they have made more cosmetic changes that are lovely. We were seated by a front window and it was for one of our birthdays. We all got the quiche with salad and it was wonderful. We brought a cake and served it ourselves(I brought plates etc.). I'm sure they would have done all of this but didn't want to burden the staff. It was particularly noisy either, even though it was full. Just a nice experience and love the history of the building. Thank you, once again, for making a special occasion special. We stayed longer than most to visit, and we asked for coffee, etc. Everyone was so helpful and nice. Thanks to the waitstaff--so lovely.
