Afternoon tea. Great selection of teas and food options were sufficient. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Slow getting check at the end but overall very nice.
Went there for an afternoon tea. While everything we ate (my wife agrees with me) was good, nothing was outstanding. I confess we're foodies and are used to high quality food. While the ambiance was good, all the chandelier/lights had a heavy dust coating on them; a sign that the cleaning service is not up to snuff for a hotel of that category.
Compared to "ordinary" places, Liberte Lounge is superior but compared to high category establishments, it needs improvement.
Service was great, really large portions and the food was fresh. I was a little disappointed about the desert, didn't really measure up to the rest of the meal.
My husband and I enjoyed ourselves. Wish we had a choice to swap out the tea cakes for tea sandwiches.
While the reservation comes through for the Liberte Lounge, afternoon tea is actually served in a separate dining room. That room is nicely appointed and larger to accommodate more guests. My new daughter-in-law and I enjoyed a lovely afternoon with a delicious tray of scones, tea sandwiches and desserts. The personalized service ensured that our experience was top notch. I would certainly recommend partaking of this lovely event.
My wife and I went for afternoon tea after a spontaneous trip to the art museum on a Friday we played hookie and dumped the kids. Art museum was nice and afternoon tea was not. We walked and were very hungry. Service was just ok. Waiting at the reception desk for 15 minutes was a bit disconcerting considering there were at least 2 reservations including ours. My wife flagged down the attendant and was told to wait. Again, a bit annoying but no big deal. When we were finally seated, our server was very attentive and pleasant. The tea was delicious and enjoyable. The food, on the other hand, was not. A three tiered dish was served with scones (top), finger sandwiches (middle) and desserts (bottom). Scones were good, especially with provided spreads. The finger sandwiches were not good at all. The breads were stale and the egg salad was made with sour cream (disgusting). If I wanted stale peanut butter and jelly, I'd have eaten my daughters left over lunch from yesterday. Desserts were also sub par with little to be desired. On an empty stomach, my tastes are usually more lenient. We promptly paid our bill and walked to the Gyro place we passed on the way and enjoyed that thoroughly. That place is called Moustaki and for $9 you get a gyro and fries.
We had afternoon tea and enjoyed a delicious variety of food. Scones, sandwich wedges, and mini desserts along with a nice selection of teas. A champagne drink was included which was a nice touch.
Very lovely afternoon. The service was exceptional and the food delicious
Went for afternoon tea. Purchased sales on Travelzoo. Definitely worth the money! Everyone was so friendly, the food was amazing, and the restaurant was adorable! Would love to go again!
This is for foodies... smallish menu and could have ordered every item... our meals from appetisers..salads, entrees and desert were all excellent.
Everything was great except the server took a while after we were seated before she took our order. I feel like she was responsible for too many tables which caused us to wait longer than we should have.
She was pleasant though and once we ordered the wait wasn’t that long.
This is the fourth time we've had tea at the Liberte Lounge. Miguel is magnificent at attending to the needs of our table. I did submit this was a celebration, but nothing special was done to accommodate the additional information. There was also PB&J with goat cheese, needless to say, that went back to the kitchen uneaten. The scones are delicious, the tea sandwiches are just okay. We've been to other teas in the city and this is just okay.
Went for tea and had a great time. The Liberte Lounge is very nice and the service was excellent. Hope to get back there soon.
have been there before for tea, an enjoyable afternoon.BUT, a little disappointed this time. the tea sandwiches were just "OK" . One sandwich was PEANUT BUTTER. Really PB&J for TEA??
Mediocre. Terrible waste of money. Never again. Food selection was pathetic. We have been to many "high" teas and this was clearly the worst.
In the words of one of my besties, it was completely "civilized". Very elegant, but modern take on high tea.
Friendly Staff, Beautiful Place, Good Finger Foods....My mom had a good birthday!
It was a nice valentine’s day dining experience
High Tea was amazing! Quality and quanity of food exceeded our expectations. A very new nice assortment of tea sanwiches and pasteries. The best part for me was the tea, since I’m really not a tea drinker. It was mild but flavorable
First, I think it’s totally false advertising to call this a French restaurant. This restaurant is “hotel chic” said with a faux French accent. Second, for the price, I expect better service—our waitress was less than interested in our table (a large party), and despite the fact that both our reservation AND someone in our party mentioned to the manager that this was a birthday celebration, nothing was done (or even offered) in way of a celebration. We had to ask what the specials were, there was no explanation of the menu or house specialty items, and service was so slow that when our appetizer actually did make it to the table, we were surprised. The food was average at best and the wine selection paltry. My family and I won’t be dining at Liberte again.
The prix fixe menu was excellent! The combinations were well selected and the portions were large.
We had the tea which was very good. Everyone enjoyed the food. Plenty to go around for 4. The scones were perfect!
Great girls' day out. Checking in was fine - they were a little weird to my friend who came in moments after me - they clearly had my name and my reservation, sat me down, but then told my friend that i never made a reservation. I physically walked up to the front and brought her to the table myself. After that, the afternoon was perfect and seamless. Our server Deija was wonderful and helpful, the food and drink was displayed really nicely and tasted good. Overall a great tea experience and would do it again.
Two for two a wonderful ideal...
Afternoon high tea.
we've had afternoon tea there before, and it was so much better. the bread on the tea sandwiches were stale
My husband and I had a wonderful time at the Liberte Lounge Restaurant. Our server was very informative and made great suggestions on which tea we should chose. We started off with a nice glass of champagne, followed by our Tea delivered in a beautiful tea pot. She then bought us a 3 tiered dish filled with biscuits, scones, tea sandwiches and 4 different kinds of desserts. The hotel itself is very elegant. It was so nice just to go and have a relaxing afternoon.
My best friend and I had a great time catching up over tea. However, the service was deplorable. Not one server greeted us or served us. The room manager ended up taking our tea/champagne order. It is not a difficult service since all the food is the same for everyone. We saw at least 3 tables of folks who came in after us and got served before us. Luckily we were in no hurry but we were hungry. I would look elsewhere to do tea next time.
Food was lovely but came out pretty slow. I know we were a big party, but we were served the main dish at around 10pm,which was pretty late. Other than that, service was attentive.
So the trouble started when we tried to locate the restaurant. We had no idea it was within the Sofitel hotel. Then there was no matron at the door who seated us. We wandered in and waited 10+ minutes to be seated, though there was little other patrons. On the upside, the food was delicious and the mimosas were fantastic.
We went for the afternoon tea service. The service was fantastic, and so were the pastries, but the mini tea sandwiches department was subpar. The sandwiches did not seem fresh/made to order, and they were not anything creative either. The egg salad sandwich was good, the rest were mediocre. The tea selection was on point and the bellini I got was great as well.
Came across this when scrolling Facebook and couldn’t be more happier with having tried it! What a great experience with great service and I will DEFINITELY be signing up again in the future for another afternoon tea.
Miguel was Great! He made our tea memorable. He was attentive and entertaining at the same time. The BEST waiter I have had in a long time.
The wait time to have someone take our order was really long, but the food was delicious and our drinks were taken off from our bill to compensate for the long wait time. Other than the long wait, the dining experience was great. The staff was accommodating and apologetic for the long wait. We were satisfied and we plan on going back to the restaurant again.
We went during restaurant week. The price fixed menu was nice, and a reasonable value. Dishes were not generous, but not skimpy either. The service was our only concern. The place was not full, and we were late for a show afterward, despite warning our waitress, and budgeting over 90 minutes for the meal.
Dried out bread, peanut butter and jelly, tasteless chocolate dessert...my how this tea has fallen. Once it felt like great fun and value, now it is less than. All was served with a smile, but service was not attentive. Champagne and tea were delightful.
We had a $20./person Restaurant Week lunch, so the value was superb! We didn't ask to see a regular menu so can't estimate normal value. I put "very good" for value because I couldn't submit my responses without checking something, but that response has no meaning, it's n.a.
OPEN TABLE: DO NOT FORCE CHOICES FOR EACH ITEM, ADD N.A. OR UNSURE TO EACH AS AN OPTIONAL response
All the staff members we interacted with were outstanding - friendly, courteous and attentive. The atmosphere was a bit of a disappointment, dark and slightly tired looking. It looked like and I suspect is a bar, not the elegant tea room we had expected.
The St. James tea we had was lovely, but the selection was too heavily weighted towards flavored and herbal teas. Perhaps this is why we had to ask for milk and lemon, which was promptly and cheerfully provided.
The food was very nice and very ample. The scones and lemon curd were a real treat, the sandwiches tasty, though PBJ and goat cheese? The sweets were very pretty and nicely varied, but nothing really stood out.
Overall it was a very pleasant experience, again in large part due to the staff.
Afternoon tea was the best. Delicious, good service, quiet and wonderful value. Would definitely do this again.
I brought my mother and sister for tea while visiting Philly for the day. We had a wonderful tea 2 years ago at the Sofitel so our expectations were high. Our server was phenomenal and very welcoming although we were early for the 2 pm tea. The manager however was not...he came to the table to scold us for being early for tea and letting us know that the restaurant loses money on serving tea and then accused us of changing the tea time in Open Table! I do not go to restaurants to get scolded or accused of wrong doing! On top of it the tea that was served was not anywhere as delicious as the last time. They actually served a peanut butter sandwich as one of the offerings! There are so few places to enjoy tea in Philly and the Sofitel has now been crossed off the list!
Matthew was an amazing server, very attentive and friendly. Will definitely come back again!
