The wait time to have someone take our order was really long, but the food was delicious and our drinks were taken off from our bill to compensate for the long wait time. Other than the long wait, the dining experience was great. The staff was accommodating and apologetic for the long wait. We were satisfied and we plan on going back to the restaurant again.
We went during restaurant week. The price fixed menu was nice, and a reasonable value. Dishes were not generous, but not skimpy either. The service was our only concern. The place was not full, and we were late for a show afterward, despite warning our waitress, and budgeting over 90 minutes for the meal.
We had a $20./person Restaurant Week lunch, so the value was superb! We didn't ask to see a regular menu so can't estimate normal value. I put "very good" for value because I couldn't submit my responses without checking something, but that response has no meaning, it's n.a.
OPEN TABLE: DO NOT FORCE CHOICES FOR EACH ITEM, ADD N.A. OR UNSURE TO EACH AS AN OPTIONAL response
All the staff members we interacted with were outstanding - friendly, courteous and attentive. The atmosphere was a bit of a disappointment, dark and slightly tired looking. It looked like and I suspect is a bar, not the elegant tea room we had expected.
The St. James tea we had was lovely, but the selection was too heavily weighted towards flavored and herbal teas. Perhaps this is why we had to ask for milk and lemon, which was promptly and cheerfully provided.
The food was very nice and very ample. The scones and lemon curd were a real treat, the sandwiches tasty, though PBJ and goat cheese? The sweets were very pretty and nicely varied, but nothing really stood out.
Overall it was a very pleasant experience, again in large part due to the staff.
Afternoon tea was the best. Delicious, good service, quiet and wonderful value. Would definitely do this again.
I brought my mother and sister for tea while visiting Philly for the day. We had a wonderful tea 2 years ago at the Sofitel so our expectations were high. Our server was phenomenal and very welcoming although we were early for the 2 pm tea. The manager however was not...he came to the table to scold us for being early for tea and letting us know that the restaurant loses money on serving tea and then accused us of changing the tea time in Open Table! I do not go to restaurants to get scolded or accused of wrong doing! On top of it the tea that was served was not anywhere as delicious as the last time. They actually served a peanut butter sandwich as one of the offerings! There are so few places to enjoy tea in Philly and the Sofitel has now been crossed off the list!
Matthew was an amazing server, very attentive and friendly. Will definitely come back again!
Went for the afternoon tea, did not disappoint! Lots of options and the snacks you get with it are also delicious.
Everything was lovely and I would highly recommend! Everything was delicious and plentiful! The service was outstanding too! It was a very relaxing afternoon!
I was impressed with the teas that were offered at Liberte Lounge for afternoon tea. They were absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with the staff's level of professionalism and knowledge regarding the types of teas being served or menu options being served. The scones were decent, but I had to ask for clotted cream and lemon curd two standard items that are always served with scones at high tea. The noise level was way to high for an afternoon tea and I attribute this to the design of the restaurant. It was not conducive to afternoon tea, I could barely hear myself think let alone talk to my guest. I imagine this is a wonderful establishment for dinner or even brunch/lunch.
We really enjoyed our experience at Chez Colette for tea. A nice selection of teas, sandwiches and desserts were offered along with champagne. Service was attentive and friendly. It was a lovely afternoon. 👍
Great service and great food. Afternoon tea was delightful. Will go again.
Was a wonderful experience for afternoon tea with my daughter. We felt so special the way we were treated by the staff. The food was an exceptional experience topped off with some bubbly. I will definantly return soon. Thank you for the fun mother and daughter time
A very nice way to spend a few hours in Center City
This reservation was to treat my friend and her kids on Christmas Day who were visiting me from Brooklyn.
The kids and I ordered the prime rib, and we asked for well-done. The waiter immediately rejected the request and said that it was made medium and that was it. I asked him if he could ask the chef first as I understand they might not recommend it that way but it’s the only way that I could eat it. His response then was that I better just order something else instead.
The problem was that it was a set menu and the two other options were a pigeon dish (not my taste) and a tuna dish, which also would have been raw. I was getting ready to walk out and he then offers us to make it “medium-well”. I hesitantly accepted as I knew there weren’t many options on Xmas day.
As we were waiting for our dinner, he kept making comments that I shouldn’t “shoot the messenger” when he wasn’t even understanding that it was his quick dismissal of my request, without talking to the chef and proceeding to tell me to chose something else. We gave up at that point and just waited for the meal to arrive.
Mine was medium-well so I just ate the corners. And the two kids, came out completely medium with blood sitting on top. They didn’t touch it. I didn’t ask or say anything at that point. We just wanted to be done with the experience. Later I checked my bill and saw that the two orders for the two kids were not even ordered as medium-well like mine was. I was so embarrassed with the experience that I gave to my friend and the kids.
The waiter once more at the end tried to blame the chef and I said to him that at this point, I just knew better not to ever return. He didn’t care to let a manager or anyone know about any of this. What’s a shame is that I used to go to their bar for their cocktails as I live a block away. But after this dinning experience, I’m done doing that.
Great shortrib sandwich. Nice room. Attentive service well made cocktails.
Tea service presentation of loose teas was informative. The food for the tea service is prepared in advance and sits out. Our sandwich breads were hard and affected taste but all the pastries and desserts were good. The champagne was a nice bonus and the wait service was excellent. The hotel has great ambiance but the restaurant where tea was served had no ambiance at all.
The hot water was lukewarm, and loose tea leaves were weak. But the scones, sandwiches, and desserts were amazing.
Great service and food
We went for high tea. The food, drinks, and service were outstanding!
Had a lovely meal at Liberte! At first, I was concerned as it seemed to be "only" a bar, but they accommodated our 8 person party very well at the back of the restaurant. Great Food- not badly priced. Thought the bar drinks were a bit $$.
But had a great meal and would go back again!
This afternoon tea felt like a bait and switch. If you have reservations on a weekend, you are seated in their breakfast room--NOT the Liberte Lounge. The ambiance is of a Denny's with French travel posters on the walls. The tables are too small and become so crowded with tea paraphenalia that you cannot see across the table. The Liberte Lounge looked great and mostly empty, but anyone who questioned not being seated in there was told that the hotel uses the breakfast room for tea on weekends because they have "hundreds of guests for tea each Saturday and Sunday." They did not have hundreds of guests when I was there. That policy should be explained upfront in every advertisement instead of claiming that tea is held in the Liberte Lounge. I was not the only person who questioned being seated in the breakfast room. The food was edible, but it had been sitting on the plates for a while and the presentation was very haphazard. Sandwiches appeared as if they were thrown on the plate. If anyone paid full price ($70 for 2 people) instead of using the half-price promotion ($39 for two people), it would be even more disappointing. If you want an elegant tea, skip the Sofitel Philadelphia!
I bought my friend for her birthday and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the High Tea. The scones were the best I've eaten and the other tea sandwiches and desserts were very good. We enjoyed our tea, bellini and the service.
Everything other than the food was good but food was terrible .... especially the afternoon tea
My mother and I dined in for the “tea for two” package. The service was incredible. The staff frequently checked in yet were not overbearing. The drinks and food were wonderfully executed. I will be booking again in the future!
It is always a pleasure. We enjoyed the afternoon tea for four.
Great food and meticulous service. Excellent value especially for prix fixe specials at lunch and dinner.
Great food. Excellent service. Will be back for sure.
I loved this place! The cocktails were really beautifully balanced and innovative and food was divine (the scallop special was beyond delicious and the duck confit rich but balanced by the salad). It was quiet, comfortable, relaxing and with really attentive staff. I’d take the 5 hour train ride up there just to eat there again!
We went to Liberte because of its French cuisine and the discount vouchers we purchased, which wer4e a good buy. The asparagus and Caesar salads were outstanding. So was the tenderloin steak and its great sauce. The pan seared snapper was good. The beignet-style mini-donuts were a great dessert, with a terrific chocolate sauce and blackberry mousse that was absolutely delicious.
We were celebrating my husbands birthday when we went for dinner. The service was excellent and the food delicious. We had been there previously for brunch but this was the first dinner. We will definitely return.
Food was great. The service was impeccable. A nice Sunday afternoon.
Love this place. Food is good, wait staff is great and around six p.m. it is quiet. Usually go here before a show. One thing they need to fix is the hostess situation. Every time we have gone to this restaurant we have to hunt down someone to seat us. This time the hostess was talking to two diners at their table, looked at us and turned her head. She then walked from one table to another and held up one finger to us to tell us to wait and then did not come back for another three minutes while she had another conversation with someone else. She then never checked us in after I asked her to. She said, I'll do it when I come back. Please fix this. Other than that, if you get a seat, it is a enjoyable dinner.
Very nice lounge with good food. They have a light menu and a fuller one. Nice spot.
Ambience - the ambience is very comfortable and cozy.
Service - the service was simply amazing from the extremely pleasant hostess and waiter, to the personal meal breakdown of the chief, to very manager who was very inventive and made sure my mothers birthday was a special one.
Noise level - the bar was pretty lively and mature, everyone was having a good time; however, the noise level did not interfere with those of us in the seated sections due to the well designed high ceilings.
Food and drinks
Value - the food and cocktails were worth every penny, and the service was added to the value even more.
Overall - I’m already looking forward to going back to personally and will that we have or company outing here as well. Great experience, great food, and amazing service!
Food was amazing ,cocktails were superb and service was attentive. Will definitely dinr here again in the future!!
Food was overcooked. Entree came with appetizer and had to be sent back. Service was poor. Just getting a spoon for soup took over 5 minutes. Drinks were late. Won't go back
Overall I would give this place a 4 out of 5. The scene was nice and quiet. Perfect for having a conversation without feeling like you have to yell across the table. The food was cooked well, but it wasn't anything different from what I could get at another resturant for. I had the quail, pork belly, and the chocolate cake. The drinks were nice, but I kept getting fruit flies in my martini. The waiter was nice and kept replacing my drink free of charge. However, I thought it was unusual.
Chris and his crew provided exceptional service and the food, esp. the grilled shrimp and corn appie along w/ the red snapper, were out of this world fabulous. Hope to return again soon and thank you.
The restaurant is in a very nice space and was beautifully arranged. I liked the chairs and overall comfort of the seating. We were seated next to a window that had bugs crawling up the window panes and flew in front of our food. There were also dead bugs on the window sills. such a beautiful hotel and marred by the sight of bugs.
we ordered the shrimp with corn, and red snapper and pork belly sliders, the pork belly was cut very thick and difficult to bite into , 2 thinner cuts of pork per slider would have been easier to eat. also wished it was a bao bun and not slider bread as thats not quite as authentic of a bread to go with pork belly and kimchi.
We had a great server, she was very friendly and helpful but when we got the bill and signed it, she said she mistakenly forgot to put the bottle of water we drank on the bill and ripped up the check and issued a new one with the 8$ water. I thought that was rude because i should not have to spend my time waiting for the restaurant to fix mistakes on the check.
