   Only had one night in Liberia (at the airport hotel) before flying home from a fabulous Costa Rican vacation. Didn't want to eat at the hotel, so checked TripAdvisor for some good places in Liberia. Liberia Social was highly ranked, so grabbed a taxi and went into town. It was a Sunday night, so pretty quiet and had no trouble getting in. Food was truly amazing and they made great cocktails. It's not cheap, but great value.

   After spending a week at the beaches, we decided to stay closer to the airport in Liberia for our early morning flight back to the States. We were very happy with our choice of restaurant for our last dinner in Costa Rica. Liberia Social was a little slow when we arrived for our 8 pm reservation but picked up pretty quickly. The owner could not have been nicer and was very helpful. The food was great. I had the skirt steak which was very tasty and well-prepared. The menu is big and diverse. Good tamarind margaritas. I thought the value was good, especially when compared to the hotels and beach restaurants. Around 9:30 pm a trio of musicians set up and they were very good. We didn’t stay much later but obviously the restaurant and bar were going to be hopping for a few more hours to come. Taxi and Uber service is available in Liberia. We used Uber back to the airport hotel. Wish we could have spent a bit more time exploring the city center, as there was an annual (apparently month-long) festival going on.

   Liberia Social came highly recommended in TripAdvisor - which is how we found it. It's off the beaten path, located on a side street between two of the major one-way thoroughfares through Liberia Centro - and was a bit hard to find due to our unfamiliarity with the area (we're from the US and CR street addresses are a mystery). Parking was difficult to understand, too, but the host advised us that the numbered street spots were fine on a Sunday evening. The restaurant is modern and very welcoming. We sat outside because although the restaurant reviews claimed it was air conditioned, there was none so it was too warm inside. The back patio was quiet and charming despite the high evening heat. The food was outstanding. We had the local cheese plate, which was perfectly curated with buttered toast points, local salami/sausage and cured fig. The entrees were both beef (skirt steak and filet mignon) which we chose because beef just seems to be tastier in CR than in the US. The meat was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The included sides were also nice. I had a local craft beer (the name escapes me) and it was fine. Other than being just slightly pricey, I would come back in a heartbeat. Oddly, the restaurant was not at all busy on a Sunday evening - maybe its a local thing to stay at home?

   within 2 hours of eating at Liberia Social I emailed a friend who I knew would be there within a day and suggested that he and his friends should go there for dinner. Liberia Social is the place to go in Liberia for dinner and entertainment. My wife and i loved it. Stuart
