   We had Mother's day Sunday brunch which was nice but we were disappointed to find that the menu had changed & taken away several delicious items, including the shrimp & grits & grit cakes. Service was excellent, Kevin was our waiter. It was nice the manager came around & gave all ladies a Mother's day coupon for 10.00 off next purchase & a rose.

   Wonderful Mother’s Day brunch at Libby’s. The staff is friendly, courteous, and extremely efficient. The food was of great quality and plated attractively. Libby‘s never disappoints.

   This venue has no sound dampening materials in its structure or decor. The noise level in the high-ceilinged room with exposed metal ductwork was like that of a high school gymnasium during a basketball game, inappropriate for dining in a restaurant at this price point. Also, unusual for the price point is the haphazard display of random pedestrian items in the large room-dividing bookcases. No theme, no beauty, no sense. It looks like the owner went thrifting with no overarching design plan. Decor doesn’t need to be expensive to be attractive. These items are neither. The smart play would be to change those room dividers into something sound absorbing, drapery perhaps.

   Dinner last night (5/10/25) was awful. Chilean sea bass ($40) was the catch of the day. I asked for it grilled, it came baked. Fish was spongy and rubbery with no taste at all. My wife had the same terrible entree. The lettuce in the caesar salad was limp and tasted funny. We order bread and never received it. The seating arrangements in the restaurant are cramped. Small table for two people sitting right next to a small table with two other people. Privacy wasn't an issue, because the noise level was so high we could not even talk to one another. Management needs to make some changes in my opinion.

   A bit hectic but a focused waiter, Carlos, eradicated the extraneous nuisances of a busy restaurant.

   Was seated 15 min after our reservation time and was placed a table in walk way tot he out doors. They have an open kitchen and the entire restaurant was visibly clouded with smoke. My water glass was left empty even though the rest of the table’s cocktails were replenished

   Great a couple of appetizers, the shrimp & tuna were awesome! The wedge salad is always a favorite as well as the pasta and meatballs. Keylime pie with pecan crust is yummy! Our server Carlos was fantastic always kept our drinks filled and boxed up leftovers for us.

   My wife and I are fans of Libby's and view it as something of our "go to" restaurant. We always find the food to be excellent, the servers very friendly as well as efficient, the ambiance welcoming, and the overall value worth revisiting.

    After waiting an hour for our food, server notified us he forgot to put in our order and forgot what we wanted. Reluctantly agreeing to order a second time we were assured our food would be out very fast. Twenty minutes later we finally received our meal. Manager came over and apologized for their mistake and said he would work something out on our bill. After receiving the check, we realized the not-so-generous manager “worked out” removing our two iced teas. I’m sorry, but waiting an hour and a half for our food when the restaurant wasn’t even busy is unacceptable and comp’ing $5 worth of iced tea is a slap in the face. Leadership comes from the top down. What this manager did was anger two repeat customers who will not return. Due to our experience we felt it was inappropriate to tip for our disappointing experience, but in turn the server too was ripped off when all the manager had to do was comp our pretzel appetizer or discount or meals. This would have cost him and Libby’s nothing, satisfied us and earned a tip for his server. Fortunately, there are plenty of other options in the Lakewood Ranch area to eat. As they say, you can’t find good help these days.
