Pasta was very good, we had shrimp scampi and the mushroom ravioli which has been on the menu forever and it never disappoints. The service was great- attentive and friendly. I have not been to Lias for a couple of years and I am glad to see that it is still a good meal.
The pasta with the shrimp was as delicious as my friend’s scallops!
Five of us went for brunch, which mostly means non-spicy food. Even so, some thought the food under-seasoned, and most everybody reached for the salt and pepper. Even the "spicy" Bloody Mary, wasn't...though it did have tasty horseradish.
Stephen was great and very helpful.
Good food and ambience but service was slow especially with drinks
Our server Gerrit was excellent. My friend and I were there on a rainy Wed. night so I don't know how typical the evening was, but I requested a quiet location because I am hard of hearing & it could not have been easier to converse. I always love their food. However I was disappointed in my dessert. I am a dessert lover & Chef Geoff's desserts are usually yummy. But my brownie sundae was mundane - tasty ice cream but an average brownie with a little sauce. Live & learn. Nevertheless, Lia's is still one of my very favorite restaurants.
This restaurant is very good. I am glad I had reservation with my family and I am gonna come next time.
We love Lia’s!
Way too loud, back room feels like a crowded afterthought.
Our reservation was on-time. The Mother's Day Brunch was very good and the service perfect.
Since we were seated at 1:30 pm, the noise level was low as most of the people had already eaten and were gone.
Mothers' day brunch was very tasty and all enjoyed their meals plus the delicious cinnamon donuts
The food and service were good. I think the mother's day brunch menu could have been more imaginative.
We went for 60th Birthday and graduation fromAU. Happy hour at the bar was awesome followed by an amazing dinner. Fish of the day was great as were the steak and pasta dishes. Large portions and the service was perfect. Friendly and attentive. Great spot in Chevy Chase
They changed the usual very nice Saturday Brunch menu for their "Special Mother's Day" much more limited brunch. When I booked for 7 people the day before, the regular menu showed up with many egg, omelette and pancake options. When we arrived the next day, everything was combination orders and maybe 10 options on the menu. Very disappointing.
Service was very slow even though the restaurant was almost empty when we arrived.
Food was alright after all but the coffee was dark colored water. We asked for well brewed, stronger coffee and almost the same horrid liquid showed up. A disgrace to serve it.
We often eat there so this was a bad experience for what is usually a good meal.
excellent avocado toast, friendly and efficient service and perfect for sitting outside on a nice day
I came from NYC to lunch wıth a childhood friend whom I had not seen in years.
I made an open table reservation and requested patio seating. We no longer eat or drink as we used to. We ordered accordingly. The grilled artichoke and risotto balls were excellent as appetizers. The kale salad was very good as a main course, the NE clam chowder was very thin yet tasty. We had Arnold Palmers. Sherbets were very good. But from checking in a small carry on, to serving us with charm and dexterity service was excellent. We had our desserts inside as the patio got hot, it was no problem, same gracious attitude of our waiter followed us inside. I'd like to come back to taste more from the menu and the bar.
Waiter forgot to bring bread even after asking twice.
My wife and I had dinner with a couple of friends. We ate outdoors on a lovely evening. We got seated just before 6:30 and were able to take advantage of the sunset special three-course meal. Two of us ordered trout and two ordered chicken parmigiana- all of us loved our entrees. Salads were included, and we each ordered a different one and they were all large and tasty. The final course was dessert and we each ordered a different one and tasted each other'- yummy. Adding to the excellent bargain was the fact that on Wednesdays, wine bottles are half-price. We had an excellent meal at a superb price. Oh, and the service was attentive and friendly. We will be back!
Lia's is a great restaurant in a lovely neighborhood. I live in the area and it's my go-to spot. I've never had a bad meal. The seasonal cocktails are beautiful, appetizers are creative, entrees are perfectly prepared and paired. And..... the donuts.... oh my!
We met here at Lia's for a business meeting. The service was perfect, not too frequent at the table, but they met all of our needs. The food was delicious! Portions were just right, and the value was very good. Being there on a weekday evening and on the early side, the restaurant was not packed and the noise level was low enough that we could talk clearly. The bar is on the other side of the restaurant from the dining room, so even though it was hopping, we didn't really hear it...
All 5 of us loved our dinner. Special state tion was paid to my food sensitivities.
We stopped for a late dinner and dined outside. There isn't much lighting out on the patio. This could be a problem after dark, of course. Friendly staff. Healthy menu options.
We enjoyed our dinner at Lia’s. The food was delicious. The set was excellent.
We are frequent dinners at this lovely and reliable restaurant. The food is always good and the menu creative. The artichoke appetizer, enough for three or four to share, was memorable, as was the parsnip soup. You can’t beat the lemon cheeses cake dessert, or the sorbet. Jack, our waiter, was helpful and had a delightful personality.
My husband and I often dine at Lia's. The service is always pleasant, the food great quality for the price. Welcoming and great patio, Wednesday has the added advantage of half price wine bottles and they have a good selection but we often go on other days as well.
Overall we had a very enjoyable time and we will continue to go.
My only wish is that they had lighter appetizers, but they do have other dishes and they accommodate diet requests such as replacing fries with salad.
Outstanding every visit. The buratta appetizer was AMAZING.
One of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. Varied menu with seasonal changes. Creative and well prepared offerings. Very good customer service, friendly wait staff, convenient parking.
Wonderful celebration. They really made it special from the manager to our waiter, Steve.
The food has improved as of late. However the noise level is insane.
I've been there several times and have had a fantastic meal - ordering different things - each time.
Great food and service. Will return
Sunset dinner is a great value. Was not busy initially and we had a great waitress (Dulguun). Once it got full, it became a bit noisy. Food was great (Chicken parmesan and trout). Deserts came with the deal, were excellent, but we were oo full by then. A neighborhood favorite.
Excellent service, very personable and client focused staff. Coupled with the food selection, this is the place to visit
Good food, great service, a little too loud!
It was too noisy to have a conversation. Great food, great service, unpleasant setting for spending time with a friend.
Smoked mozzarella and pea agnolotti was excellent!
What a terrific find! Lia's is part of the Chef Geoff's family, so I expected the food to be wonderful and was not disappointed. We had 5 people with different eating habits, and the menu was able to satisfy each of us. Several of us took advantage of the "Sunset Special," which offers three courses for $27.95 from 4:00-6:30 nightly (weekends, too).
The special of Watermelon Gazpacho with Honeyed-Almond Crostini was very special indeed! All the pastas are house made and it shows; my husband loved his linguine and meatballs. A friend loved the Wild Mushroom Ravioli. Very fresh fish (one served with a clam-shell rose). Great salad choices. Wonderful pizzas (I had an Asparagus/Lemon Ricotta/Prosciutto pizza that was even yummy as a leftover. (The summery Peach sangria couldn't have been fresher, either.) I am looking forward to going back to try the Ricotta Gnudi with Maine Lobster.
I love having brunch at Lia’s! They have so many brunch choices as well as regular lunch food. Great staff. The General Manager (Joshua), I believe, stopped by and told us about their new menu changes. Will be back soon for dinner to try the new hanger steak he has beautifully described to us.
Always very good at Lia’s: interesting food choices, well-prepared and good service. Except failed to finish with birthday recognition despite same-day request.
