LIA'S Ratings and Reviews
Went for my sister's birthday brunch, first time for all of us. Parking is very convenient and was free with validation which always makes the experience better. Service was outstanding, and food was plentiful for cost, beautifully presented, and delicious. I would like to try this place for dinner sometime. Brunch had a good crowd, but the restaurant is nicely configured. Everything from coffee and mimosas, to the delicious bread, to the main entrees were wonderful. Highly recommend for a special occasion.
We went for Valentine's Day - which happened to fall on a Wednesday, which is Lia's half price bottle night, so we got some great bubbly to go with our meal. The food is really good. Lia's had a V-Day menu of Oyster Rockerfeller, Lobster Tortellini and a 12oz ribeye in cognac and blue cheese sauce - all very delicious. We also got an order of the fried calamari starter, which is one of my favorites, perfectly crispy and not oily! We shared an apple crostata for dessert, which was delicious! I love Lia's it is such good value for such great food. Good ambiance, always friendly service.
The food was rather uninspired particularly for the price (e.g. the ribeye was underseasoned, poorly seared, and oversauced and the potato-parsnip puree was flavorless). The music was too loud and the two-seaters felt so crammed together that there was no real opportunity for an intimate conversation that could not be easily overheard especially because we had to raise our voices to hear each other over the music. We were itching to leave rather than linger and order dessert and coffee. Two bright spots: the corn chowder was exceptional and the music playlist, despite being too loud, was great fun.
Terrific service. Two people in our party (including me) had birthdays that night, and the evening was wonderful, in no small part because of the service, promptness of delivery, good recommendations and amenities. Would definitely recommend Lia's to anyone.
Lia's is always a great place to go for good dependable food at reasonable prices. The staff is friendly and responsive to requests. Don't like the accompaniment to your main course? They will, within reason, replace it with something more to your liking. I think that we are there at least once a week. We really like Lia's
Lia's dining room is bustling. Went for dinner - there was a steady crowd and we know why. The food is delicious! There are creative selections for every palate. Recommend the salmon, the crispy brussel sprouts and the risotto - incredible. The service is also great - attentive and friendly. Can't ask for more. Love Lia's!
The food was good and they have a gluten free menu even during restaurant week. But they offered bread to the table NOT gluten free. When I inquired about gluten free bread they wanted to charge me $3.00. They did not charge the table $3.00 for the pumpkin bread. Not Your Average Joes provides gluten free and regular bread to the table at no charge. Lias needs to step up. If you offer a gluten free menu then there should also be gluten free bread offered with the other bread to the table.
Except for the pizza and the bruchetta on the menu, most of the entrees didn't seem to be Italian. The crab dumplings were excellent; however, the eggplant appetizer was very dry and had too much breading. Also, the pieces of duck in the salad entrée was more breading than duck. The trio of sorbets for dessert would have been nicer if each one was a separate flavor. As it was, three large scoops of the sorbet was boring. The service was quite slow; two hours for lunch. Even though it was Restaurant Week, we were there later in the afternoon and the service did not pick up although the waiter was friendly.
My husband and I agree: the grilled swordfish entree was the best swordfish we can ever remember eating! The shrimp soup and fried calamari for starters and the divine chocolate dessert were fitting bookends to a splendid meal. Bravo to the chef!
The service was also excellent.
Came late on the Sunday of a 3-day weekend and the place was pretty empty. Good specials on offer but we ordered from the menu and were happy with what we got. Mushroom pizza very good. Arugula salad particularly good because of wonderful lemon vinagrette. We were delighted it was so quiet but couldn't vouch for noisiness if the dining room had been full.
We are relatively new to the DMV area, and decided to try a new restaurant close to home. We booked the reservation based on the Open Table reviews, and we were thrilled with our choice. We are a family of foodies and almost never dine at national chain restaurants. This will become a new family favorite. Highly recommend Lias.
Reflecting the season and what is freshest in the marketplace,
each week Lia's adds several new entrees to its regular menu.
For regulars that is a particular plus. This week's lobster and
shrimp tortellini with its fresh, spicy tomato sauce and just a
touch of saffron aiola was simply superb. Whether you are
looking for a vegetarian dish or not, the eggplant parmesan,
generously sauced and topped with lovely moist mozzarella
will satisfy even the most ardent carnivore. But if beef is what
you crave, the Angus double-grilled burger will fully satisfy and
more. Dessert was a must given the joint birthdays being
celebrated. Lia's presented an array of favorites arranged
like a miniature sculpture garden. The celebrants were jubilant
and not a morsel remained. As for the service (Saoirse)---
the usual friendly, attentive but not intrusive blend.
