It was wonderful! Although the service wasn’t fantastic, my friend and I had a wonderful time. The food is always delicious! The seasonal butternut squash ravioli ragu is a MUST try ♥️
Great food and the half price bottle of wine is a great offer.
Recommend trying the Cauliflower appetizer, it is amazing
Had a great dinner — the halibut with lemon-almond sauce was excellent. Service was friendly and helpful (though got a little scarce as the restaurant filled up).
This is a very nice neighborhood restaurant. This was our second visit with the same server. He did a nice job.
Thanksgiving evening meal. Service was impeccable;e and the food was terrific as it always is at Lia’s.
We have had Thanksgiving dinner at Lia's for a number of years and this year was no exception. Everything was excellent, including the service.
Outstanding food and service. Each dish is crafted thoughtfully. If the ship for the cookbook, I’d buy it!
Had a wonderful dinner with company in town. Food was excellent.
The usual- very good 4enjoyable evening out!
A good neighborhood location, diverse menu with large portions of predictable menu items. Nothing refined or high gourmet but completely satisfactory for a low key evening with friends. Burgers still get the best reviews from our guests.
We met our friends for dinner at Lias on a Saturday night at 6:30. It was quiet when we arrived but got more noisy as the evening progressed. We wanted to be able to have a conversation. The food was good, although there was too much dressing on my salad for my liking. It is a good spot with free parking on weekend evening. We have been there many times
One of our favorite restaurants in Chevy Chase. The food and service are always first rate. We often bring guests, who also enjoy this restaurant.
Lia's is a reliably fine neighborhood restaurant. Our entire party enjoyed every last morsel. The service was excellent. The early bird special isn't just for seniors. Our party, and a number of others, dined with children and teenagers. It was wonderful, as always!
excellent food. appropriate size portions. nice atmosphere. well priced.
Great meal. Good service. But restaurant got very noisy, even in thr back room where we were. We could barely hear each other at a table for 6. Love their shrimp burger and sweet potatoes fries!
Food here is only mediocre. Environment is noisy. But the menu offers choices for everyone and wine list is decent. I had the duck salad special which was very disappointed.
Accompanied by an international couple who are true "foodies", I had no qualms about taking them to Lia's. We ordered the WILD MUSHROOM PIZZA as a shared appetizer. Light and packed with flavor we contemplated ordering a second. Then VEAL SALTIMBOCCA-medallions of thinly sliced veal with homemade gnocchi in a sauce so good to our embarrassment we asked for more bread to sop up every drop. (There was some secret ingredient beyond the sage, lemon, white wine and prosciutto we are still trying to identify that totally set their version apart.) Superb. Then on to the MEDITERRANEAN SALAD that was as flavorful as it was gorgeous. (Wish I had taken a photo!) Shameless--- we shared a TIRAMISU that was light as a feather to bring this perfect evening to a close. Oh, if you are concerned about the overall service-our server- Stephanie seemed to have a finely tuned sense of when to check on us and when not to interrupt, while all the time keeping things flowing perfectly. ENJOY!
Love the food!
We enjoyed our anniversary!
Food was excellent, but the background music was awful. When my friend arrived it didn’t matter, but muzak Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting is awfull
Outstanding fried calamari and shrimp scampi. Ricotta donuts and tiramisu was also great. Mushroom ravioli was ok. Great wine selection. Ambiance was very nice and social, not too loud.
We had a table of 12 with 1 waiter. It was exceptionally slow and he was not sufficiently attentive. The reservation had been made several weeks before. I don’t know if they were understaffed or poorly trained.
I went with a group of 6 for a family celebration on a Fri night. Our server was friendly, helpful, attentive but not overbearing. We ordered several seafood, vegetable and pasta dishes which were all delicious. Dessert platter was spectacular and enjoyed by all. Ambiance was perfect.
The food here was delicious as always. We felt the service was too slow. We waited forever for our starter salads. Otherwise, we had a lovely dinner.
I've been to Lia's several times now, and it never ceases to please. I have tended to favor their pasta (all made in-house); recent offerings range from pretty traditional (broken meatballs over creste) to creative and quite tasty (butternut squash caramelle in boar ragu). On this visit, the scallops with a pancetta port sauce were just plain decadent; nicely complex without losing the scallops among the stronger flavors. Service has ranged from competent to wonderfully solicitous; the servers are always happy to offer recommendations for both food and drink (some interesting specialty cocktails). The room is simple but pleasant; even with a noisy group next door, my friend and i were able to have a conversation without shouting. In all, I really enjoy Lia's, and look forward to visiting again next time I'm in the area. (PS: Don't miss the ricotta donuts.)
My fish was over cooked. Best to get a burger, salad or pizza there
It was my birthday and a friend told
Me to choose my favorite restaurant. I have several but LIAS immediately came into my head.
The food was so good, I ate everything on my plate. No room for dessert. But my friend told our wonderful waiter it was my birthday. I just could not eat another bite but ordered coffee. He came back with a macaroon standing in whipped cream on a small oblong plated with a candle that was an artistic masterpiece to rival the best Pollack, but made of edible syrups. He said, “I just couldn’t let you leave without making a birthday wish.” How kind and thoughtful!
Deirdre, we are so pleased to hear that you had such a good time with us! I have made sure to pass along your compliments to your server, Erick, and our pastry cooks who put together birthday masterpieces. We are so happy that we were first on your mind! I hope we see you again soon!
Great service, great food and great atmosphere. Will be back!
Always dependably good food and service. Perhaps our favorite restaurant. I like the new menu.
Both our appetizers salads needed to be sent back. 1 salad had ingredients not mentioned on menu. Other salad missing items from menu.
Calamari, was good except there were a lot of fried pieces served with no calamari, just coating.
Server was helpful and pleasant.
Bar noise, like being at a Nationals game.
I had not been to Lia's in about three years, but it was convenient for my guest. We had a lovely experience-- and there was none of the sloppiness in food and service that had been one of the reasons we stopped going. Our waiter was attentive without being intrusive, and we were not interrupted when we lingered (it was not a busy night). My salmon was overcooked, but so tasty it didn't matter. My companion genuinely enjoyed the beef special and we shared an order of the delicious Brussells sprouts. We'll be back.
Happy hour prices are good value, main meals average/expensive, why does all of Washington DC think they can charge NYC and SF prices for an average dinner? At least in SF you get fresh fish and delicious spring salads that taste like they are from the farm, not like salads that taste like they flew all the way from SF to WDC! But overall Lia's is good quality, tasty calamari, decent size salad, pasta is delicious, pizza 8 out of 10 for crispy dough.
easy parking, at early dining wait staff was attentive. Brought kids pizza earlier than adults. party of 7 enjoyed their entrees
Restaurant is just so loud. I feel like it gets louder each tune we go. Service was a bit slow.
Some of the food seems to have been overlooked. The drinks were OK but not exceptional. I expected more for the price I paid.
Just see my previous comments on Lia's and cut & paste. Lia's is my favorite restaurant and for good reason. Whatever I order is always good. Our server Erick was delightful.
Sandy, thank you very much for your lovely comments. I will make sure to pass along your compliment to Erick. We look forward to your next visit!
Excellent experience as always! But be prepared for deafening noise. One must shout to be heard.
Thanks for telling us about your recent experience at Lia's! We really appreciate the feedback and are so pleased to hear you enjoyed. We are working on improvements that will hopefully help with the noise issue. We hope to welcome you back very soon!!
The food we had was fine. Service was a little slow. However I wish they would change their menu.
Dear Henry, my sincerest apologies for your negative experience with us. I will make sure to follow up with your server to make sure our standards are being upheld. I hope that you will give us another chance to impress you soon, especially since our menu did change on Wednesday night. We have lovely Fall selections now and I can assure you that you will enjoy more when you do visit next!
The service was exceptional and the food was very good.
Lia's is one of our go-to restaurants for special occasions and out-of-town company! Reliably awesome!
