I've been to Lia's many times because it's a family favorite, but I think this was the best meal I've had yet. The herb-crusted salmon (gluten free) with pumpkin risotto and kale & mushrooms was truly outstanding. My father and sister-in-law had it too and we all left clear plates. We were early enough to take advantage of the special-priced meal (includes salad, entree and dessert) which is a fantastic deal. The only complaint was that the kids' "dirt" dessert was a little liquidy, though the kids were warned in advance and ordered it anyway. They were more disappointed that it included only one gummy worm!
My group was pleasantly surprised with the warm atmosphere, good service and excellent food. We are glad we found this hidden gem in Chevy Chase.
Lia's is consistently good. We eat there regularly with my Father and the good is always fresh and tasty. All the servers have been helpful and courteous- particularly Rachel the last time we were there.. highly recommend.
The bar manager noticed that we ordered signature cocktails so she came over to ask what we thought about them. They were very well done. Complex enough on paper to intrigue you and perfectly balanced on the palate. She graciously sent over another cocktail for us to try. The food was equally amazing. Valentine’s Day and we had the filet that was a special for the evening and the short rib tortellini. Both were delicious. Service was perfect as well. Definitely going back.
Amazing food, great ambiance, service was top notch...what else can I say, go try it! Definitely worth it for sure.
Considering it was valentine's day and every table in the place was taken, the staff and our waiter could not have been more welcoming. The table was set with red napkins and a Valentine tucked in the napkin. We were welcomed and drink orders taken. All drinks were well made as ordered. We nibbled on good crusty bread with a superior olive oil for dipping. The appetizers came out firsthand the dates wrapped in bacon/proscutto? stuffed with Gorgonzola was outstanding. Two of us had the house made sweet potato gnocchi with chicken sausage in a creamy sauce with pecorino cheese and was delicious. The portions were hearty and hot when served. Lately I have been served warmish rather than hot food while out. The waiter was very attentive offing more bread for sauce wiping. The desserts were great and beautifully plated. Other than the decor, industrial chic? Plywood and UGLY in the back dining room, the entire evening was superb and we definitely will be back.
Great time dining here. Food and service was great. The time of everything was excellent.
Great food and wonderful server
Staff accommodated our desire to change tables and was very attentive. Food was fine-pasta with short ribs a little tough but flavorful. Trout delicious as was flourless chocolate cake.
My dining companions were happy with their chicken parmesan and mushroom ravioli. But my shrimp scampi with linguinii was a big disappointment. It came with spaghetti instead of linguini. The sauce was mostly butter, not the lighter olive oil I'm used to. I could not detect any white wine flavor. And although I had asked for extra garlic, the kitchen must have misread that as no garlic, because you couldn't see or taste any garlic to speak of. It was very bland. It did come with an ample portion of shrimp, but even they were just boiled and not seared first as they often are elsewhere. Based on that one dish I would not go back again.
The Frittata was great--
nice and quiet at brunch
Wonderful couples night out. Thoroughly enjoyed splitting the Cesar salad and a pasta dish with my friend. Plus the Brussels sprouts apprrizer. Delicious!
I was very excited, as were my guests, that Lia's had many delicious healthy options.
Lia's is a neighborhood gem! Free underground parking, great food and service. It's one of our favorite spots!!
Nice quiet dinner with friends - it was really nice. Food was great with a broad selection. Good ambiance - easy to talk.
We went here for a Sunday brunch during DC’s restaurant week. I had been before years ago and had bad service, but thought I would give it another shot. The place was VERY loud. You had to yell to speak. I had the kale salad which was pretty good, my date had the Caesar salad which was average. I had the chicken parmigiana and the sauce and noodles were quite tasty, and my date had a pizza also good. For dessert I had the turtle cheesecake and he had the chocolate cake, both of which were a little rich for our tastes, but others may like. The biggest issue here other than the noise was the service. Our drinks were not refilled and we had to ask several times to finally get one refill. The waiter was inattentive, and had to be flagged down. The time from finishing our meal until our plates were cleared was really long. The place was busy when we first arrived, but slowed down. I think the food is okay, but the service leaves much to be desired. The prices were great for restaurant week, but not sure I would pay full price for the food.
Happy with the service and food. I have been there for dinner but this was a first for brunch. Very good food.
Overall good, but not great, restaurant.
Lia’s is my favor family restaurant. Very good food and excellent service. The staff is very friendly. The servers remember us.
Awesome! Great food! Helpful, informative, attentive service! Great dining experience!
Consistently good food.
The restaurant was full and super busy for restaurant week, yet the food was high quality - hot, fresh and beautifully presented - and the team gave us exceptional service - our drinks were always full, table clean, and we were fully taken care of by the entire team.
Food, service and atmosphere always great at Lia's. Great place for dinner or happy hour.
Generous portions, food was very good & creative, service was excellent.
The experience was as always wonderful! Introduced our friends to Lia's and they " will definitely return and were happy to add it to their 'favorites' list! "
Server Ste was wonderful, knowledgeable, and helpful with food information, wine, and just general information questions about Lia's. Our foods were excellent--preparation and flavors!
Norm's Chocolate Molten cake is--OF THE CHARTS..can never resist this one (and I DO NOT LIKE molten cho cake!). Best I have ever had. He is my Mentor!!! Hope some of his demo pastry classes will be coming up soon.
Thank you, Chef Geof, for an exceptional dining place, that is always consistent and can be relied on to bring guests! We love you!
Another truly wonderful Restaurant Week dinner at Lia’s!
Our young server was absolutely top notch and the food, as always, was perfection. Both the timing and presentation of our meal could not have been improved upon. From appetizers through desserts, the meal was flawless. Our only complaint was that the hostess ignored our reservation seating request for a quiet booth. Instead, we were seated at a table in the middle of the room which made the conversation much more difficult. Other than this disappointment, the evening was fantastic. Lia’s is a consistent gem.
One of our favorite restaurants, and one we can walk to. Service and food are always good.
Always delicious food and good service. We have moved from DC and will miss Lias very much.
LIA’S is always terrific!
Atmosphere was nice and the menu seemed to be good. We ate in the bar which had an acceptable noise level. Unfortunately, our Server was less than stellar and when the soft eggs for the Avocado toast came, the eggs on both plates were overcooked (hard boiled consistency).
Lia's is surprisingly good. The cinnamon doughnuts for Sunday brunch were spectacular. Very lovely variations on eggs benedict and they accommodated vegetarians wonderfully. Best of all, it was quiet, a rare find for Sunday brunch.
Lovely Brunch and pleasant place to be on a rainy day
We love Lia's overall - this meal was more mixed for us because the dish I had was way too rich, oily and not as healthy as I prefer. My husband was very happy with his veggie burger. So if you are concerned about health - make sure you ask questions about the dish to make sure it works for you. It was tasty - just not what i was hoping for.
Earlier is best 5:30 during the week is quiet
Wonderful. As always. Food and service are great. We come whenever we are in DC
My friend and I had excellent service at LIA’S during our Saturday brunch. Our server was attentive and made great menu suggestions. Smoked salmon benedict was the perfect choice. Peach nectar mimosas were awesome and our server kept them coming! Seems like many people don’t know about LIA’S for brunch because is was pretty empty, but I highly recommend!
Everything was outstanding.
A birthday treat!!
The sea scallops were delicious. Everyone )there were 6 of us) enjoyed their dinners. We liked the wine and beer selections. The martinis were excellent.
Lia’s is my absolutely favorite restaurant. Provide a quiet room and it would be PERFECT
