Smoked mozzarella and pea agnolotti was excellent!
What a terrific find! Lia's is part of the Chef Geoff's family, so I expected the food to be wonderful and was not disappointed. We had 5 people with different eating habits, and the menu was able to satisfy each of us. Several of us took advantage of the "Sunset Special," which offers three courses for $27.95 from 4:00-6:30 nightly (weekends, too).
The special of Watermelon Gazpacho with Honeyed-Almond Crostini was very special indeed! All the pastas are house made and it shows; my husband loved his linguine and meatballs. A friend loved the Wild Mushroom Ravioli. Very fresh fish (one served with a clam-shell rose). Great salad choices. Wonderful pizzas (I had an Asparagus/Lemon Ricotta/Prosciutto pizza that was even yummy as a leftover. (The summery Peach sangria couldn't have been fresher, either.) I am looking forward to going back to try the Ricotta Gnudi with Maine Lobster.
I love having brunch at Lia’s! They have so many brunch choices as well as regular lunch food. Great staff. The General Manager (Joshua), I believe, stopped by and told us about their new menu changes. Will be back soon for dinner to try the new hanger steak he has beautifully described to us.
Always very good at Lia’s: interesting food choices, well-prepared and good service. Except failed to finish with birthday recognition despite same-day request.
Great local restaurant that never fails to please. This time we had the rigatoni bolonese with a well matched Chianti. Generous portion. Good desserts.
Average, but then we are stuffy & from California.
We were celebrating our teen's 18th birthday, and she chose Lia's for her birthday dinner. She enjoyed that her name appeared in chalk on the birthday wall by the hostess stand. This is our 5th time dining at Lia's since January. It's become a family favorite!
Great service and easy parking!!!
We had Easter brunch here and they were able to accommodate a large crowd and the service was great despite being busy. I liked that they validate parking and are in a very convenient location. I wish it was a little warmer so we could have eaten outside on the nice patio.
Service was great. Parking and location was great. Menu selections good. The Fritata was not well seasoned, but the donuts were exceptional. Reserved a table for 4, changed the reservation to 5. Thought the reservation was updated to 5, but when we got there, it wasn't. They added a chair to a table for 4. It worked b/c there was no one seated next to us.
Love the food, love the service, but I just don't get the plywood ambiance in the rear room with some painted letters on it. Does not come close to matching the food and service. Ambiance in the rear room is not good, staring at plywood sheets with a weak attempt to fancy them up with green paint/lettering. But I'll still come back.
The restaurant did not let me know at the time of reservation that they were just going to have brunch on Easter. We went there for the regular menu. The server was apathetic, slow, and acted as if she'd rather be elsewhere. A very disappointing experience.
Easter Brunch was fabulous
The food was very good, as usual, and the service was terrific--thank you Jack!!
The first spring day and we were able to sit outside! Tables are spaced far enough apart that you don't feel on top of one another. The burger was cooked perfectly.
The food was particularly good on this visit. Service always good. Noise level a bit high. May reserve a later time for the next visit!
Excellent lunch menu, service, quality of food and easy/near business locations... have been there multiple times and will continue to go back!
Our waiter was very attentive without interfering with out meal. He was excellent and noticed when I may need a refill on my drink. We decided to share the meal. The spinach salad was simple and fresh. The calamari was very good. CG Burger was a bit dry at medium rare but was made of quality beef. Overall it was good with an excellent waiter and staff. We would go there again if we are in the area but would not take a trip just for the meal. We would also tell our friends about Lia's. Since this was the first time we dined there, we can't say that there are not excellent meals on the menu.
Any of the Chef Geoff's restaurants are reliable and delicious. Lia's was a great brunch option for those who do not like the large generic buffet. Many choices for both breakfast and lunch options. Servers are attentive and make sure you are happy with your meal. Validated parking is a plus because there is limited street parking in Friendship Heights.
Excellent food and service. Good menu selection with a very good wine and cocktail selection.
Meal started off well enough, but the restaurant was also fairly empty. It quickly filled and as it did, it seems as though my level of customer service faltered. I was a single diner & as my server got more of her tables seated, I became an afterthought.
That said, the food was pretty tasty. I was only disappointed in the fact that their website was advertising a dessert that was no longer available! It was definitely a major part of the reason I chose to dine there. Overall, good food, but would hesitate to dine there alone again for fear of being neglected.
Lunch with a friend on a Thursday. good size crowd but not too loud. great service, attentive waiter, surprisingly reasonably priced. thanks!
we like it for lunch— too noisy for us at dinner
We had to wait about 20 minutes after our reservation time. They were packed and the service was very slow - had to ask to have water brought. Very noisy, but that was fine with us as we had a two year old with us. The food was OUTSTANDING! Best Brussels sprouts ever! Will go back.
Excellent meal and service. Mushroom ravioli was the best!
Delicious food with excellent service. From casual to gourmet choices there is something for everyone on the menu.
The lunch was very good. I had the rainbow trout fillet the other guest has the pecan crusted salmon. Both were very tasty and well presented. Service was excellent. Altogether a good experience.
Went after lunch hour, got seated immediately. Prompt service. Good interaction with staff
The staff is friendly and attentive, I really appreciate that. My drink (sidecar) was excellent. I had the ricotta and pear raviolini with duck ragout. The ragout was tasty but the raviolini were so tiny that their flavor didn’t really come through. I think regular size ravioli with more filling and a stronger cheese (Gorgonzola?) would be nice. I’d order the dish again if they changed it a little.
We dined at the restaurant at the recommendation of friends and our meals were even better than advertised. We started with the Bruschetta topped with gorgonzola, prosciutto and fig jelly. The slices of bread were large and piled high with prosciutto. I ordered the rigatoni Bolognese and my wife the sweet potato gnocchi. Both meals were delicious - the sauces rich, tasty and thick with plenty of meat in the Bolognese sauce. The only negative was the service which was unfriendly and perfunctory. I didn't feel like leaving a tip but was generous because of the quality of the meals.
I ordered a steak from the healthy menu. It was tough and chewy and not worth $28. Disappointing, Lia's.
Terrific food and service, as usual! And we appreciated being seated in the back room which was much quieter. Another lovely dinner at Lia’s!
Really great food, ambiance and service! The pre-6:30 specials are really a good bargain, but cooking is excellent and imaginative!
Fabulous food! Service was spotty, as I had to keep searching for anyone to assist.
However, the food was superb and we will definitely return.
Had a nice dinner with my parents and my family on a Sunday night. Service was great and we all enjoyed our meals!
one of a real Italian restaurant. Always enjoy their Happy Hours and especially their pizza
Great neighborhood restaurant. Pleasant, good service. They accommodated requests of changes to my order.
We come often and enjoy it.
Not the best experience, our server went away for few minutes without checking on us, table was not the best and food was okay, but nothing special.
Went for my sister's birthday brunch, first time for all of us. Parking is very convenient and was free with validation which always makes the experience better. Service was outstanding, and food was plentiful for cost, beautifully presented, and delicious. I would like to try this place for dinner sometime. Brunch had a good crowd, but the restaurant is nicely configured. Everything from coffee and mimosas, to the delicious bread, to the main entrees were wonderful. Highly recommend for a special occasion.
Lia's has become one of our local favorites. We arrived 1 hour earlier than our Open Table reservation, and the manager was gracious enough to try to accommodate us. We settled in at the bar to wait for our friends and were pleasantly surprised that a table had been located on a Saturday night. The food was delicious and our server was awesome. Our kids were sad that they weren't invited to our dinner party as they looked forward to returning to Lias. Highly recommend this Chevy Chase gem.
