Alfonso Salazar, better known as “Dirty Al” originally started shrimping as a young man with his father and 6 brothers. In 2003, he and his youngest son, Cameron, who graduated from Culinary School, transformed his bait stand into a restaurant where together they have been known for having “The World’s Best Fried Shrimp”! In 2005, his other two sons returned home to help grow the business. To this day, they now own 7 restaurants on beautiful South Padre Island and across the valley and continue to bring only the “best” Gulf Seafood to each customer’s table.

3 people ordered Filet Mignon and all 3 were cooked to perfection. I ordered a fried Whole Flounder and it tasted very fishy. I am from SC and have eaten Flounder all my life and it shouldn’t taste overly fishy. It was also very greasy on the bottom. My rice was only warm and all 4 of our baked potatoes were cold. I ordered a beer in a glass and on my last swallow the glass had a chunk of something in the glass. I did show our server and she said, oh. When spending almost $300 for a dinner of 4 you expect excellent, hot food with clean glasses.

Food was over cooked! Lamb chops were dry and sides were not tasty. Lobster was cold n chewy. Had it redone and still was chewy.

Liams is always a great dining option at SPI. The food always delicious. My wife ordered the cedar plank salmon and I had the fried shrimp. Started the meal with their delicious agua chile oysters - yummy! Our server during this last visit was Julieta and she provided exceptional service. Julieta was very attentive and made sure my wife and I enjoyed our dining experience.
The only negative during this last visit was that they changed their bread recipe. I know you are thinking what is the great deal about them changing their bread. But it is! Liam's complimentary bread has always been soft and delicious with the butter they serve. For some reason, they recently decided to change the bread and it is not even close to being what it used to be. It's dry and very flaky. We hope they bring back to bread they used to serve, please!
Other than that, we highly recommended Liams at SPI.

Julio, our server was very attentive. Here knew the menu very well and made excellent recommendations. The food was amazing so we're the cocktails and wine.

A sunset dinner at Liam's is always on the schedule when we have visitors. The red snapper ceviche and baked oysters are amazing. Every meal we've had has been outstanding. Sit outside if you can!

Really enjoyed our dinning experience at Liam’s SPI. After two not so great experiences at their Brownsville location, it was very nice to enjoy what Liam’s SPI has to offer. Alonso was an excellent server, and the food was all delicious.

I took my mom to Liam’s for her birthday and we had an amazing experience! The food was brilliant and our server Alan completed the night with amazing service and great menu suggestions! When I made the reservation we asked to be placed on the patio and they did a perfect job of reserving the best table for our celebration. We will definitely be back!

Wine selection was great.
Really liked this restaurant overall except all the food served was cold.
Good flavor but not hot.
Even when we asked them to heat it up, it still came back cold.
Too bad considering most of service was good.
Perhaps it was just because they were busy since it was New Year's Eve.
I would give it one more try since the flavor of the food was really good.

The restaurant was nice. Main course meals were great. The mixed drinks were not great and the salads could have been sooo much better with homemade salad dressing not Kraft dressing out of a bottle. Overall the food was good. It’s the small details missed by this restaurant that we feel could have been better for fine dining.
