Regardless of what her ubiquitous stoic expression and prim upswept hairdo might have led you to believe, Lady Gregory, the accomplished Irish writer and playwright, was a party animal. We decided it was time to set the story straight and honor this distinguished dame’s fun side.
Lady Gregory’s Old Town has undergone a metamorphosis or a loosening up of our corset strings so to speak. Starting with our new name, LG’s Bar, we’re shaking things up and casting aside our traditional Irish pub vibe for a modern, contemporary one.
For the new menu Chef Henry has created dishes that are approachable, delicious and, yes, a lot of fun. He’s done away with borders and opted to showcase a variety of global cuisines that focus on sharing.
I’m so disappointed they don’t have the full Irish Breakfast anymore.
Sweet potatoes fries were great and the thin crust pizza was good. Lots of tvs everywhere and nice candles at the tables. Would go to again for a bite before second city show
It was a super cute place and the service was amazing! It was a week night and it was quiet, not sure about the noise level on a busy night. It was great food and friendly service; we will totally return.
Good food, great service- Christian was very attentive, witty, and helpful. We will be back for sure!
Great food and great service!
Great gluten free menu!!
Food was fantastic, ambiance was enjoyable for a Saturday brunch, and our server was really great in helping us decide between a couple of different dishes! Highly recommend.
Great place to go for yummy food and a fun atmosphere. The noise level was a bit loud but overall great time!
Food was tasty, and they sat us in a more private area since the brunch crew was loud and we were with parents. They also provided a complimentary desert for the birthday at the table (and sang!).
We had a reservation before a show for 6:30pm - I think we were right at the time they switched from restaurant to bar. It got really crowded and all the tables around us were actually broken down and removed, which made us feel kind of awkward. The food and drinks were great, but the service was really slow. It took another 20 minutes after we finished eating to get a check, and then 15 after that to actually pay.
Unbelievably loud. Couldn’t have a conversation with the thumping music added on top of noise level.
We had dinner at LG's Bar before walking to Second City. Our meal was delicious and the gluten free options were plentiful and appreciated. The interior has beautiful dark wood and unique spaces for eating and drinking.
The food was good but the service was plain awful. It took forever to get service in first place. Then server missed taking order of one of our party and I had to go get him to take it. Then when the food came one of the meals was wrong. The server never asked if we wanted more drinks even though our glasses were empty. He just delivered the bill. We felt rushed out. Too bad because we really did like food and atmosphere.
The cocktails were strong and well made. My salad was soaked in dressing. The tomato bisque soup was absolutely delicious. My friends thought the Buffalo Chicken sandwich was tastey.
We ate at LG’s bar for a Saturday night late dinner, and loved it! Convenient location, good drink selection, and food that exceeded expectations! Highly recommend.
To be fair, we did book last minute and they did accommodate that, and our biggest issue was noise, and yes this is a bar. I do just wish there were more options for varied noise levels/sections, so if someone wanted a quieter experience where you can actually hear each other and have conversation, it could be a possibility. The food was above average and was fairly-priced. The service was pretty lackluster... We saw her a total of three times, to take the drink order, to take the food order, and to give the bill. We were all missing silverware so we went to find that on our own.
LG is a staple on our Friday night dinner....great food, great prices....a bit on the noisy side.
Must have the Chicago Mule
Great experience! We needed a quick turnaround as we had a show to see and were late to dinner. They did a great job accommodating. Food was delicious!
We met some friends here for a pre-show drink, since it is right next to the Red Orchid Theatre.
We were there early [5:30] and so able to have a nice table for four near the NE firerplace.
Our server, Christian, was very friendly and great, and the both the $5 happy hour pils and the Guiness were nice and fresh.
We only had some soft pretzels to dip&eat, but they hit the spot.
LG Bar is NOT OPEN FOR LUNCH! Open Table confirmed 12pm reservation, but when we arrived (in bitterly cold weather) we were told they no longer serve lunch. Both the restaurant and OPen Table need to keep their information up to date.
Very nice neighborhood restaurant, with excellent food, generous portions, reasonable prices and attentive service. My family enjoyed our meal there very much.
LG is always great on a Friday evening....this one was no exception.....
Best salmon burger we have ever had! The healthful buddha bowl was also delicious! We will be back. Ask for a table in the “library “ if you want a quieter meal.
Love the music and staff here!!! Drinks tasted great!
I started coming to LG's Bar when it was known as the Old Town outpost of Lady Gregory's. Things have changed since I last came here. The name. The menu. I think they've rebranded themselves as more of a bar with a smaller menu. That said the restaurant is lovely, and the food is still really good. The service is always impeccable. I recommend this place if you're in Old Town and looking for good food, drinks, and a lively atmosphere.
Delicious brunch... even for gluten free! I did the Avocado Toast (gf) and it was fantastic! Highly recommend!
LG is a great place to end the work-week. Staff is always pleasant and the food is great.
Came here for a birthday dinner with family and we had a great time. Our server was great and everyone loved the food.
Food was decent, standard upscale bar food. They do bingo on Mondays, which has the potential to be fun, but the host / structure was a bit aggressive for a dead Monday night. Would not return on a Monday.
LG is proving to be a reliable place to gather with our friends. Friendly atmosphere, great service and good food....great combination!!! Thanks.
Overall very good, but the noise level was very high, and the sound system produced throbbing bass that shook our booth.
Everything was great. Chef has provided a wonderful menu. Love the atmosphere because it is different. Great staff. Well run. Perfect for any occasion. 5 stars.
Too loud to converse
Service could improve
Brunch. LG’s was good, not outstanding. Our server was not good. For example, the table next to us was seated several minutes after we were and she took their orders first. She never refilled our waters even though we asked. That being said, the food was delivered promptly after we ordered. Food was good. Bloody Mary’s were tasty. We sat on the sidewalk and it was pleasant.
Great neighborhood spot....love the location and ambiance. Thanks.
The restaurant is way too loud. Unable to carry on a conversation.
Visitors from Cincinnati had a wonderful get together! Thanks. Great service!
The food was good and the staff was very accommodating for our party of 11. My only compliant was that they have a painting of a naked woman over one of the booths, which is where they sat us. I requested to move to a different table, and the team was very helpful moving tables and chairs to help us fit in a different section. I'll almost certainly come back in the near future.
LG’s Bar is rated 4.8 stars by 87 OpenTable diners.
