I always enjoy having lunch at L'Epress. The service is terrific and the food comes out quickly. Works perfectly when I have a time constraint.

Food here is always great. Vegetarian options limited but the pasta with eggplant was delightful. Only gripe was with our server who seemed very remote and disinterested.

The steak was not cooked right. So they made me another steak. It was so tough that I couldn’t eat it.

Great for a 1 hour (or less) business meal when you don't have much time. Service is very efficient, but they don't rush you - you can stay as long as you'd like.

The food was fine. Our waiter, however, was horrible. Once she took our order, we didn't see her again. After waiting to ask for the check for 15 minutes, I had to ask the host if she could find our waiter so we could pay! It just wasn't a good enough meal to go back, especially with the bad service.

I wish I could give this place a higher rating. The atmosphere is festive and charming. The food was quite delicious. But the service we received was just awful.

We had a table of 8 for a business lunch. I ordered a soup and salad. Pretty basic. I was given the wrong salad. I pointed out the mistake and asked for a replacement. No big deal. But, my new salad didn't come out until everyone was almost done with their meal. So, I had to shovel it in my mouth after the other plates were cleared, which was awkward.

When the bill came, I was charged for both salads! I explained the mistake to the waitress, and she brought me out another bill. Still charged for both salads. I showed it to her again, and she brought me yet another bill...you guessed it...still with both charges. At this point, we needed to get back to work. I looked at the third bill and saw that my colleague had been wrongly charged for home fries with her fritatta. The menu clearly says that home fries come with all breakfasts. When I told the waitress about this, she said that since the fritatta had potatoes in it, they would not serve the home fries without an additional charge. Just ridiculous!

Since tip was included for our large party, there was nothing else I could do. I let the hostess know that they should write on the menu that home fries are not included.

At least the French onion soup was yummy...

I have gone to L'Express many times and it's the first time I was disappointed. I invited a friend there on Christmas day at 11. It was still relatively slow. We ordered breakfast. It took 15 minutes for hot chocolate to arrive and by the time it did mine was no longer hot. French toast came relatively fast but the other two plates took 40 min to arrive to our tables. 40 min for eggs on relatively slow morning? In addition, waiter brings french toast with no syrup or butter?? L'Express I like you but train your staff.

All went well with reservations and table was fine, although the dinner room is very crowded. The wait staff were pleasant but seemed a little too focused on moving us along and taking our plates before we were finished. Noise level was deafening and very difficult to hold a conversation with my wife, even though seated right next to me in corner booth. after we hit desert, some how the pressure was off the wait staff, as getting the desert and check seemed to take forever. Food was OK, but a little on the overly large serving/heavy side. Over all a pleasant night if not for rush at salad and main course time.

The two friends with whom I had dinner here had enjoyed their previous experiences, but I'd never eaten here before. Perhaps because of the holiday season, the restaurant was more crowded and noisier than either one remembered, and the service was slow and somewhat disjointed. The food was good but not outstanding except for the pecan tart dessert which was very good. This first experience would not inspire me to recommend the restaurant to anyone else, but it was not so disappointing that I'd refuse to give it a second chance if a group of friends wanted to go there.

Love this place. Comfortable atmosphere evocative of a genuine French bistro. Prices are very reasonable as compared to the quality of the food, which is always excellent. The dishes generally are quite simple but always delicious. Menu is small but has a very nice selection of appetizers and main courses. And the wine cellar has some great values. Our $45 bottle of French Chablis was very good.

We had brunch here on Thanksgiving and it turned out to be a great choice. We had a window seat, very good service and a lovely meal. They also had nice selection of wines by the glass. It was a perfect bite before meeting friends for a movie.

I was looking for a reasonably priced French restaurant for a group dinner and was thrilled to find L'Express. It's conveniently located near Union Square and the food was great. I had the mussels. There is a good range of options and the house wine is a good deal. It's very cute and Parisian-looking. I would definitely recommend it, but not for anyone who is hard of hearing as it's fairly loud.

Like a French brasserie, with great food and drink, attentive but not overwhelming staff. Went on a Sunday night and sat for a few hours, drinking and enjoying the street scene, feeling no pressure to vacate the table for new customers.

L'Express is always a great spot for a meal. Went with a reservation for four which was helpful because the place was packed. Often it's okay to just walk up but during brunch times a reservation is needed. Great food, great drinks, fun atmosphere. Very well decorated and cozy inside.

I found this place in the 90s and loved stopping in for a late night dinner/snack. I have visited it off and on since—and while I have moved out of town, I still go back to visit with my girlfriends for brunch. It is the quintessential French bistro with tin ceilings, and great creative energy.

This Sunday our brunch was ruined by the lack of professionalism of the waitress and manager of this restaurant. We were the second people to sit down in the restaurant that morning. After 50 minutes and the entire restaurant now filled with people eating, our food was nowhere to be found. Asking for someone to see what was happening was clearly bothering the rude waitress. After an hour some meals came, one totally cold and two totally wrong. Never ordered pancakes. We sent back our cold dish and they returned with the rest of the meals and then a new dish with completely raw eggs floating in it. Sent in back again. Came back again with the eggs still uncooked. We didnt even bother sending back. Just left it uneaten. Not once was there an apology, just a dirty look from the waitress. The manager and the waitress saw we were not eating it and just watched rather than try to fix the problem. He did come when we asked for the check and apologized but had no reason for such bad service, just the kitchen messed up and I have no idea what to say. He look items off and gave us a discount but it was too late. Will never go back to that place again.
