Except Dominion is better, in almost every way. I was actually surprised by the food quality - quite good. A bit expensive for what it was though, and could use more flavour. Soup was bland, although the octopus and lentil salad was great without much added given the delicate flavour. Dessert was a bit on the sweet side.

J'allais à l'Express lorsque j'étais étudiante et plus de 20 ans plus tard, j'y vais toujours pour les mêmes raisons. La carte de base est toujours la même et on a l'impression d'aller visiter un ami... les plats sont bons et rassurants. Les petits papiers le long de la carte apportent quelques nouveautés et parfois de belles surprises. Le service est toujours agréable et courtois. Qu'on soit à l'avant, à l'arrière ou au comptoir, l'expérience est la même. L'ambiance bistro est devenue rare à Montréal et j'aime la retrouver à cet endroit; j'y retournerai bien sûr.

Amazing service, authentic French Bistro, fun and lively vibe. The Duck Confit and Steak Frites were fantastic- left very full.

If you are looking for fantastic decor or something trendy, don't come here. L'Express is about perfection of the classics. Nothing more, nothing less. Best steak and fries! Excellent wine collection with some good by-the-glass choices. Wait staff don't make a fuss, no personal introductions - just really good service. Excellent value too.

Lives up to the hype. Steak Frites is ridiculously good. Wine menu is superb. All around, awesome.

Recommended by family. Great location and nice inside. Servers were actually very nice which I read on tripadvisor that they tended to be a bit rude. Service was also very fast. Did seem somewhat impersonal though and the food was not great. We both had steak frites- fries were good, but the steak was very chewy, tough cheaper cut of meat. A bit undercooked for my liking as well. Given the quality of the food the price was a bit steep. Likely won't go here again.

Split a half bottle of wine and each had steak tartar. Finished with a tarte au sirop d'erable and digestifs. A great French bistro experience in North America!

the dining room is long and narrow the tables are packed. we had the fish soup which was ok not great. the croutons had melted cheese on it so the where difficult to cut in the bowl you had to take them and cut them on the plates.my companion had the veal liver which was cooked the way he had ordered it. I had the beef tartare and it was well prepared but nothing outstanding. with a bottle of wine , it cost 136$ without the tip.

OMG! It was the most fantastic french meal we've ever had! The baked brussels sprouts were divine!
