Fantastic Food!
Both the food and service was very good. We plan on returning.
This is a little hidden gem for locals, that we keep forgetting about. Our service was absolutely excellent as was the food. It is so refreshing not to have to walk through a smoky casino for fine dining.
We will be back, and maybe, the new owners will offer a locals discount as do many restaurants in town!
You need some live light jazz music!
The quality of the food just didn’t justify the very high prices. My steak was overcooked and didn’t seem to be of a good quality - chewy and tough. The menu doesn’t describe what you’ll actually get, so you can get unpleasant surprises.
One of the best steaks we've eaten and for the price it makes it even better! Coming from Texas, that's saying a lot. If we ever come back to Tahoe, we will definitely be back.
I was a little disappointed with the thickness of the steaks. My many visits were rewarded a thick piece of meat that was at least one to one and a half inches thick. I could have gone to the Raley's and gotten the value pack. ( The meat was barley a half inch thick ) Even though the flavor was very good and the overall experience was great, I understand the restaurant is under new ownership. If you wish to keep with the spirit of the original expectations of the customers who come year after year to enjoy a fine dining outing, I suggest you up your game. This experience will not stop me from recommending Lewmarnel's to others, or returning myself. I just want to make you aware of the expectations of everyone who enjoys your fine dinning establishment.
Wonderful waiter, service made all the difference to the evening.
Need to bring back the cheese fondue.
Very disappointing. Server was a joke. I would like for a manager to contact me. My cell is 214-280-2353.
Used to be so good. Came for the fondue and selection of old menu. Only found 3 items. Much more expensive
My finance and I ate dinner last night while visiting Lake Tahoe for vacation. The service was incredible - our server was so nice. We had the deviled eggs and calamari for apps. Both were very good. For dinner, we each had the ribeye with a side of asparagus and mac and cheese. Steak was cooked to perfection! Very tasty. Dessert was homemade apple pie. On top of the great service and excellent food, the music played was so nice! Highly recommend.
Food very nice restaurant nice, asked the waiter a guy with black hair around 50ish, if I could have my burger without the top of the bun,his reply was could I not take it off myself, though it came out without,it
There was quiteva lot of food on the plate,my husband had the pork chop which was on a big plate I asked for a big plate, instead of going into the kitchen near our table he went up to the bar and had a short conversation with somebody,a bit a girl delivered the plate.
We are UK tourists been hear 2 months only time we have not tipped.
Very bad attitude for a middle aged man .
food good but a little too heavy in the garlic in just about every menu item. Garlic smell permeates the room. Not especially pleasant. Looking forward to the remodel. Wonderful service.
This is a favorite restaurant of ours at South Shore and we again had a great meal though I miss the cheese dip they used to serve before the meal. It was yummy. Our dinner was very delicious though. Thanks.
Great value, food and service.
I can't remember the last time we had such a great meal. Your chef is the best and Shelly was a wonderful waitress. We will definitely return for another great meal. Don't forget the apple pie al amode.
Thankyou.
Fabulous food, amazing specialty drinks (try the Summer Smash). The calamari appetizer was melt in your mouth, every entree I've tried has been delicious. Can't wait to go back!
The location is quiet and off the main street which is pleasant as is the room itself. Reservations were easy which was a treat after the noise and long waits on the Boulevard. The salad was delicious and the trout tasty. The service was very unprofessional if eager to please. If the servers get some training, it will be a good choice.
Food preparation was excellent. Service was attentive but not over the top. Would go again
Bad service and bad food prep. Fine paying for an expensive steak but they put a salty/garlicy mix on everything.
The calamari was too big and no tentacles. Tasted good though. I liked the option of anchovies in the Fraser salad. My wife and each had the filet. Done just the way we asked. Way too salty. Overall just ok. We really liked this place before the new owners took over. Looking for a new place in south shore.
This restaurant is pretending to be something it isn't. They think that by jacking the prices people will overlook the poor food/ standards and align to a gourmet mindset. The amount of salt used on the food was ridiculous and likely to hide the poor quality and tastelessness. Even a simple burger was undercooked. Extremely poor all around and will not ever be going back to this restaurant. Suggest anyone that reads this avoids the place and selects one of the many better restaurants close by where you'll eat better food at half the price.
This restaurant has recently been sold, however the service and food hasn’t suffered. The only real negative was a family next to our table with three noisy children.
We had a lovely dinner at Lewmarnel’s on Tuesday night. When I booked through open table I checked off that it our anniversary dinner, but they did nothing for us! Oh well!!! Why ask if you’re not going to acknowledge it??
Very limited menu. Some of the entrees come with starch and vegetable sides and others don't so you have to add them for additional cost. No dinner salad is offered only a Caesar or a Goat cheese salad again at additional cost. While the meals were tasty they are expensive considering it is located in Tahoe not the Bay Area.
We ordered the Calamari appetizer and it was quite good. I ordered the Filet Mignon, which was dry and without any flavor. My husband ordered the Halibut and he said the same thing. They took his meal off of our ticket which I thought was nice. We hardly saw our server unless we asked the guy who filled our water glass several times to send him over. Quite a disappointment since this was my birthday dinner.
Very happy to find this place while traveling. Several food intolerances make eating out a challenge. The menu lended to easy adaptations and the chef did an excellent job. Rib-eye, side of mushrooms (excellent multi varieties) & garlic, sautéed spinach. Perfect. We enjoyed the western art.
Menu should be a little more extensive. We both had the filet which was excellent. Miss the fondue appetizer.
I had read on Open Table menu that steak dinner was inclusive of an appetizer, soup or salad, steak and baked potato or twice baked or rice. When we looked at the menu in the restaurant it was completely different Everything was al a carte!!! Disappointing!!!
My husband and I shared a Caesar salad, which was very good. We each ordered NewYork steaks, also very good. We ordered sides of sautéed mushrooms, spinach and asparagus. Everything was very good. We would most likely return when in the area.
We brought our own wine and corkage was only $15.00.
Management really should correct menu on Open Table.
Excellent food and great ambiance. We have been going here for many years and have never had a bad experience
The first time ever eating out on Christmas. It was a great dinner with the family, and absolutely phenomenal wine list. Great choice while vacationing during the Holidays.
We found the restaurant really comfortable with tasty food unlike the usual super fatty super sweet American fare. Great steak, excellent service.
It's a quaint old location near the downtown area and Heavenly. The service is very nice and charming, the decor is very tired and retro, the food needs work moving from the 1950-60's era of dining into the 21st century. But If you happen to be in the area with an appetite for a great steak (no veggies just potato) and a great selection of library Cabernet Sauvignon this place is good place to visit.
We will come back here again. The food was good and the price was very reasonable with a quite ambience.
The breakfast service & staff were so wonderful that we thought we would try it also for dinner. They raved about the chef. We did not know the night we dined was the chef's night off so we got the B team. The halibut was dry & overcooked. The rest of the dinner was ok but not good enough to justify the prices. The service was adequate but did nothing to add to our dining experience. I would like to try them again if the main chef was there.
This is our favorite place to dine when we're in South Shore Lake Tahoe. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is cozy, and the service is impeccable. Everyone on staff is welcoming and helpful ... and our favorite server, Kevin, is outstanding. A major plus for me: cheese fondue with every meal! This is something rarely seen in restaurants these days, and it's delicious. We totally recommend LewMarNel's!
We have dined here a few times in the past and enjoyed it very much. However, this time we were totally disappointed. The service was adequate but not as refined as we had experienced in the past. We had the veal cutlet and veal cordon bleu. Both were too heavily battered and burned. When I complained, they took the least expensive one off the bill.
We loved our anniversary dinner at Lew Mar Nels! The food was awesome, big portions, too much to eat. Service was great. Location easy to find. Ambiance nice. We will be going back again.
Nothing good at all. Wife's bday dinner was a epic fail
Definitely an old fashioned steakhouse. It was a good meal with friends. The meals were all good and abundant. The cheese fondue was excellent. The bar service was a bit slow, but it was a small bar. The wine list is extensive. Cult cabs back to the 50s, 60s and 70s available at reasonable prices. It was nice to get off the strip and have a quiet dinner.
Since this was a top rated restaurant in Tahoe, we decided to try it out. The food had zero flavor, the booths were tiny, chairs were tiny, and service was a bit slow. Very disappointed in having to pay a $100 bill for 2, when the food was so bad!
