Maybe we ordered the wrong things, but the food was terrible :-((
We left more than two thirds on our plates - but the waitress didn’t even bother to ask why :-((
We had ordered Focacia bread as a starter, which came together with the entrée, not before.
The music was very noisy and more than half of the restaurant was empty, though, when I called before that we would be a little late we were told ‘after 15 minutes our table would be gone’
Overall for 100 bucks not a pleasant experience :-((

Super busy on New Year’s Day which was understandable. Slightly understaffed perhaps. Drinks (wine only) took a long time and server was a tad slow. Food a tad slow as well. Food was very tasty. Will still go back

Had to wait for our 6:30pm reservation until 7:30pm. They did comp our first round of drinks and an app.

Manager was really apologetic which was nice but the hostess was rude.

The atmosphere is outstanding. The only thing that is not up to par is the level of service. For the upscale vibe this place puts out, the service is slow and hard to catch the attention of the waitress.

We went here for our anniversary over the weekend and we were disappointed. Mainly because during the sunset we had people constantly interrupting our meal to take pictures next to our table (as we had a good view of the sunset). It was very annoying and disruptive to anyone eating close to the balcony. The seating is also very cramped and you feel stacked on top of each other. The food was good but not really worth the price. The view was great and the service was fine but other factors left a bad taste in my mouth. I would not return for a second visit based on our experience.

When I made the reservation, the app asked whether I wanted bar stools or seat backs. I said seat backs. I phoned and confirmed. We had a person who just had back surgery. When we arrived, the host brusquely told us they don’t reserve specific tables and if we wanted seat backs it would be an hour wait. Outrageous. We were then seated with two seats against a wall and one low back chair. No ocean view. We requested rare and medium rare burgers that were well done. Fries were cold. Disappointing all the way around. And we’re locals.

i've always loved the Ocean Terrace but Level2 was a disappointment. the "view" overlooks the ugly tops of the buildings nearest the sea, which are super brightly lit at night?? not exactly romantic. i booked Level2 thinking it would be enclosed for a cold night, but its open like the Terrace, with distasteful plastic covers over the windows to keep the elements out. i was still cold, it was still drafty. the decor is nicely done.
i was excited to try their hyped cocktails; my boyfriend and i were both underwhelmed. they were just ok.
the ceviche starter was terrible; boring oversalted fish with inedible tortilla chips. our main dishes were quite good: gnocchi and duck confit.
overall, i will wait until summer to go back to the Terrace, this was not up to George's usual standards in my opinion.

I’ve had a few meals at George’s and it’s always been a great experience. Their menu is unique and the food is outstanding. Service is top notch as well. Lastly, the view of La Jolla beach is remarkable.

Beautiful spot. Honestly just can't beat the view - so amazing. However food was below average so it really is a spot for special occasions where the food is not your focus. My "seared" fresh albacore sandwich was overcooked and chewy, side salad was limp and had no flavor, so for those reasons I will not hurry back - however again, that view!!! I had a delightful french chardonnay, so perhaps best for a non-foodie who likes to sip wine and enjoy the view. For that you'd be in heaven.

Food was really good. We had spaghetti with clams and skirt steak paired with wine. Love the ambiance but I think we’d appreciate it more if we go before sunset so we can see the view. The only reason Im giving it 4 stars because the seat was uncomfortable and small with no cushion. Overall I’d recommend this place! 😊

This was suppose to be our date night, and it was not what we expected. It was extremely loud and it took our waitress about 15-20 minutes to even greet us. Our appetizer came out before we even got our drinks. We were crammed into one of those tables that had a column right between my boyfriend and me, making it extremely unromantic and difficult to even have a conversation. We hardly have time to go out anymore and we were really looking forward to just enjoying a nice meal and being able to have a conversation, unfortunately, that was not the case. The food was good, however, for our purpose of going out, it did not meet our needs.

We started on the top deck for drinks and then went to a level two for our reservation. The renovations made last year are STUNNING! The cove/pacific views are “ money shots”. I highly recommend Level 2 as there is NOT a bad seat there. The food was it’s usual AWESOMENESS. The fish tacos are the best around and their house soup was killer! Service and ease of reservation were added pluses! DO make a reservation to insure a great table and experience. George’s Level 2 is a “ can’t miss” when visiting LaJolla.

Excellent dinner. Beautiful view. Would have gotten a five star but for the second drink not being great. We ordered two more of the yummy margaritas we ordered first. The second round was materially different in not a good way. I guess it was a different bartender. Otherwise, loved it. Will return if I get back to La Jolla.

The view as you walk in is nothing short of spectacular. Service was prompt and attentive without being intrusive. The wine list was good, but not very extensive, although the list downstairs is apparently extensive. Our food was delicious. This is definitely a place we will visit again!

The food, service and views were fantastic but the noise level was a buzz kill. We couldn’t hear ourselves think! With a large party in the bar area and cement floors, the mouse was unbearable. We were relieved when we left. I know this was just one evening, but I would imagine the noise is an issue most every weekend.

Server Mickey was amazing. Attentive, made excellent suggestions and wasn’t pushy or made me feel rushed. Food came out really quickly.

I had the crispy chicken torta and it was like a fried mex sandwich. It was a big portion, and very tasty.

Made a mistake in booking a table here. The duck confit was terrible. The duck leg was very dry and tough and so were the white beans. Service was mediocre. Lovely view of cove until sun started to set and was blinding even with sunglasses. Need to invest in some shade blinds.

Waiter took forever to greet us. Couple who sat at the same time as us got up and left. She kept forgetting things. The bar over served a gentle man who was very loud and rude. It made the whole experience very uncomfortable. Not exactly what you want for date night. We was so horrible we had to mention it to the server (when she finally came) Food was ok, service was horrible. Over priced for this kind of experience. GO SOMEWHERE else for DATE night!!!!

Drink order got lost. Made our reservation online and when we got there, they told us that if we wanted a table with a view we had to request it at the time the reservation was made.. no notice of that online. Hostess told us that in the "too bad, so sad" voice. Unless you have a great view... better to go to a less crowded place and then walk on the beach for the sunset.

Perfect view to watch a sunset. Really fun and innovative cocktail menu. Calamari was excellent, so much that it may be in the top 3 we've ever had. Ahi tostada was a recommended app. from the server... Ahi was good, but tostada was a bit stale. Wouldn't order it again because there was so much more from the app. menu we wanted to try.

Halibut dinner entree was superb! Such a wonderful medley of color and taste.
Tombo dinner entree was definitely made by it's accompaniments (baby bok choy, oyster mushrooms,
leek fondue, miso-soy vinaigrette, carrot kimchi). Had it not been for these items, the Tomboo was bland.

The experience was nice! Location is awesome food is good. My concern was the service. The service was nice until the end when I paid and left then I received a call from them telling me I took the signed copy and left the other one unsigned. I left both copies for sure, I was in the area so I went back to the front to sign another copy. I felt little offended by the act. Then the server was like, the copy might have flow and Lost! I was really.
