We loved the band (Caribou) and the food. Caribou brings us to the Levee, and doesn't disappoint! Our waitress obviously had rather be somewhere else. Seemed quite put out that she had to take orders after the band started. Complained that she couldn't hear. How was it different from other nights when there is a band? Deal with it. The first server, Jenny, was awesome. Couldn't have been more pleasant. We didn't know why that changed.
The food was mediocre at best. They had one sever working the patio and bar. He was working very hard and it seemed understaffed. My friend and I went to the interior bar and I ordered a Tito’s straight up martini with olives. I watched the Bartender make the drink and added olive juice to it. It was a dirty martini. He tried to say that the olives make it taste that way. Bad business practice. Will not return.
I was wondering how I could get a reservation so late in the day on Saturday, guess this explains it.
Had reservations at 815 and asked for a table near the band but was sat in the back of the restaurant or gave us option of the patio (which felt like an inferno with the heated lamps and fireplace) We sat in the back but after rededately being hit by everyone who walked by we just stood up. So we had to eat standing at the bar. Whole place is extremely hot due to the fire places/heat lamps and lack of ventilation. Something needs to be done to allow are in on the patio side. Waitresses are amazing though! Best ever!
Not a great experience. Took 50 min for food to arrive. Servers were supportive and kept us in the loop. Apparently they had a very large group that brought everything else to a halt. Food was .... eventually... good. Bit noisy. More of a lounge than a restaurant. Probably will not go again.
Food was delicious but portions are tiny. Seems like more of a bar atmosphere than a restaurant.
Was great that they took reservations for Valentines, but the menu was limited. The wife enjoyed her shrimp& grits, but the steak medallions I had were a small portion for the price.
Yes, it's pretty and the service is good. The drinks were excellent but the food was slightly better than Applebees. One of my 3 cheese ravioli hardly had any cheese and my steak was suppose to be cooked medium and was well done instead The peach dessert was delicious. Overall it was a nice experience but nothing to write home about.
We enjoyed our first visit and found many things to like about Levee at the River. The location and atmosphere itself, even during February was a big driver for getting us to check out this spot. The menu's slight lean on more smaller plates vs main courses gives you in a sense two routes to take - order only smaller plates and have a sort of "tapas" meal with a +1, or go the traditional route of an optional appetizer and main course.
With that said, the variety of options on the menu weren't overwhelming and all made sense as a collaborative, no matter what you chose to do. That does make sense though, given Levee is the more "let your hair down" version of River House, located next door. In regards to entrees I remember, surf and turf was the special of the day, but you could also find local favorites such as shrimp and grits and the classic hot brown. Starters and small plates ranged from raw oysters in a half shell, shrimp cocktail, fried lobster ravioli, multiple slider choices, to a handful of flatbread and taco options. There's more small plates than I'm giving credit for (loaded fries for one looked amazing and plentiful) though that were also great options. Our favorite dish of the night were the crab cake sliders.
Service was Excellent, especially for a busy night like Valentine's Day. Cocktails were consistent with every order and very tasty. We're used to spending $60-80+ on a date night for 2 in most homegrown restaurants in Louisville for dinner and 2-4 drinks, but if you're not, just be prepared for that. There is a stage for live music, though we left too soon before their opening number. I look forward to coming back in the summer months and seeing what a weekend night is like with warmer temps on the river.
Lots of noise and confusion when the band was setting up, over an hour, feedback from speakers was alarming at times, too loud. Service was excellent and food was delicious.
First time eating at the Levee. We met some friends for dinner and stayed for the music. Wound up having a wonderful time! Loved the energy level. Our table was near the dance floor and we really enjoyed watching the crowd have so much fun. Will definitely go again!
I could only get a 6:15 reservation. Place was empty at 8. Not sure why but doubt I will go back for dinner. Service was good food was average.
I was dining with three friends on a Thursday night. We asked for a table outside . It was a beautiful evening! We discovered it was Ladies night! We, therefore, got our flatbread entree for half price and our wine for $5.00 a glass. As the sun began to set our view of the river became even more beautiful. It was a lovely dining experience. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. We didn't stay for the 9:00 movie but what a cute idea!
Terrible experience, will not go back. Service was basically non-existent... including the waitress, bartender and the manager. Two cheeseburger sliders, that were greasy cost $8. My friend tried to complain about her crab cake sliders that were too salty and not cooked as requested... the manager gave her a card for a free appetizer that was only good for one week, basically, he brushed her off. Our food came out at different times. The waitress nor manager came to check on us after our food was finally all delivered. Then there was the live music, dueling pianos. We were at the opposite end of the restaurant, the music was so loud we could not have a conversation. We asked several times if they would turn the volume down... don’t think they could hear our repeated requests because of the loudness of the music. Did I mention the singers could not carry a tune? In closing, our group of six goes out to dinner once a month and we will never visit this establishment again.
Came to eat and enjoy the live music. All was great!
Came for birthday but they had mixed up our reservation so we were unable to sit outside. Other than that the food was delicious.
Our waitress I have to say was the most pleasant young lady we have every had wait on us in a long time! 10 star for her!! We ate out on the deck.
Food was good but trying to eat and talk to each other and to server while band is doing sound check was so loud that we could not hear a thing.
Music was too loud during sound check. Had to ask wait staff several times for items. Food was good.
Sydney was a terrific server! Night Breeze was a great band. Food was meh.
Enjoyed celebrating with friends our anniversary. The atmosphere was awesome and loved the music. Fun place! Highly recommend! Beautiful scenery and sunset
We ate outside. It was a very nice night. We sat on the couches. Next time I will get a table because I think it would be more comfortable. But we were in the shade and most of the tables were in the sun. Great evening with friends.
The food, service and ambience were all good, not great but better than fair. The view of the river and the band were were very good. Dance floor was poor, a rubber based tile very sticky.
Birthday. Included in reservation but not acknowledged.
Always enjoy out time there...

Levee at the River House is a classy and personable place. I enjoy the river view, the waitresses are always nice and the crowd is always ready to party on the dance floor! it's a great upscale place to spend the evening. I've also enjoyed all the menu choices that I've selected.
Food was ok, but the cost for ok food to much. The outside was all torn up. Just wasnt impressed
Great. Moved us to Riverhouse since Levee so noisy.
Friend’s gathering for a friend’s benefit. It was so loud in there with live music that we couldn’t talk. Love live music, it was just turned up way too loud. Service was good but had to send back food. No apologies from waitress, but food item was replaced. Not in a hurry to go back u less just for drinks.
It was a little slow but with the weather and every one coming in from river and outside deck, I understand. Best Burger!!
Please do something about the air conditioning. It was freezing in there
The presentation and flavor was excellent, but the food was warm at best and the coffee was even colder.
Decided to have a relaxing Oaks Day so we came here with another couple to enjoy the view and uncrowned surroundings. We were seated outside at a table for 4 with comfy cushioned bench seats. Server was prompt to take our drink orders and delivered them soon after. My husband and I shared the Chicken Pasta which was delicious. Our friends got a Reuben sandwich with house made chips, the Fried Lobster Ravioli and some Broccoli App and all were delicious. The ravioli fared better after asking for tarter sauce and marinara. Very reasonable prices and the ambiance is spot on. Will be back for their M-Th Happy Hours where they have reduced drink prices and specials on apps!!
The music and service are fine would not recommend the food unfortunately
This was a very disappointing dinner. We were told that the same chef prepared the food at the Levee as did at The River House. We have always had good food at The River House. The food was virtually unedable. We will not be returning.
have been here many times and never disappointed. service always attentive, food always delicious. if you want a table, make a reservation and go early.
Wonderful as always. Great food great experience.staffing is amazing. My book club meets here often. Always a great experience.
Great place to unwind, Great chef. The Caribou band was there the last time and they were great.
Great venu to grab some good eats and hear some great music! I ordered a flatbread and it was good. We had oysters and they were great! Ordered the shrimp and it seemed pricey. $12 for 4 shrimp. They were large shrimp and tasted fresh and good but $12 for 4 is a lot. The burger was good. Love the venue, huge bar with lots of drink selections! Fun place!
The nachos were excellent, but the rest of our meal left much to be desired. Out of the 6 of us no one finished their meal. I felt that the food was overpriced. Service was good.
Service was great and all in our party enjoyed their meal. Enjoyed the band’s music; however, was very loud. We had a table of 8 ladies and we were right in front of the band. Music was loud and we were not able to talk to each other.
