My husband ordered the fish and chips and the fish was huge and all delicious. I ordered the scallops and zucchini which was also delicious. We got there a little before our reservation and they sent us to their bottle shop downstairs which was really nice and had a vintage feel and we enjoyed cocktails while another patron was playing albums on their record player.
Waitress attentive and friendly despite being very busy
We ordered the pork schnitzel and short ribs. Absolutely perfect! The service was good. Very knowledgeable and helpful. The wait staff juggle inside and outside tables so I gave them extra credit. The cocktails all sounded very interesting so I ordered the ovc. Highly recommend this cocktail for those who want something different and fruity. They surprised us with a key lime pie- and it was to die for! The only downside was the noise level. We measured it at above 80 decibels, and at times more. I would like to visit at a quieter time maybe lunch?
The food is incredible. Great variety and excellent portion size and quality. This isn’t your run of the mill quick stops. Make an effort to check this place out. It will become a quick favorite.
We (party of 6) universally agreed the food was delicious (nothing was left on anyone's plates or the appetizers), staff was friendly and helpful, food was promptly delivered and the portions were perfect. We will definitely come back. One of our party can be a picky eater, and even he enjoyed something he hadn't tried before (a duck based appetizer).
Great food as we had vegetarians with our group. Service is warm and attentive. Menu is really creative. Pizza Is best in KSQ. Who knew? Really great appetizers and the main dishes were so tasty. Can’t wait to back.
Pizza is not consistent and no mozzarella cheese on Margherita pizza??, was overdone
tomato sauce with few pieces of basil. Very disappointing! Too expensive to disappoint your customers. Seems like they run out of ingredients and Chef is either
overwhelmed or distracted... Hope things get better in the kitchen! Also l go there to try to support a new business owner and want him to succeed!
Last minute date night. Really enjoyed the food that we did get to order. The menu was unfortunately very limited since they were out of many items.
Food was great and was the service.
Letty’s doesn’t disappoint.. Friendly staff and great food!
I had high hopes. The night started with the owner/bartender asking us to switch tables but then we stayed where we were seated originally. He explained that he wanted that table for his family that was coming in later. He was upset with the hostess who sat us there. We offered to move but he said we could stay. He apologized and gave us a shot of pre meal drink. The menu tried too hard to be different and it didn’t work. For example, The Caesar salad didn’t use romaine lettuce. The memo was a little funky but should be more tavern like food. But the food was generally pretty good. Later, the owner kind of pushed us out and said our table was reserved for another group that was coming in at 9 Pm. Not a great experience. Probably not going back.
They ran out of mushroom soup. The salad had brown lettuce. There is a very minimal wine selection and wine by the glass is VERY pricy. I asked for football or even baseball to be put on instead of the depressing news and a cbs show rerun and the server told us they have a cheap Verizon package. With 2 large TVs in the bar, they should be able to put on something that the patrons are interested in. He said “sorry I’m just a server”. I will continue to patronize because it’s a local establishment but they need to do better.
As someone who works back of house in the service industry and picks up on all the nuances when dining out, I can truly say Letty's blew me out of the water. Maybe even the best meal I've had in the past two years. Not only was the menu innovative and exciting, but the dishes were executed with the epitome of precision. Everything from the timing of food arriving (we ordered A LOT), to the attentive waiters, to the incredddddible bartenders, this place belongs in LA or NYC. This is not fine dining - the atmosphere is cozy and rustic with a chill tavern vibe, but the food and cocktails exceed a fine dining standard.
If cocktails are your thing, there is a sitting room downstairs with cozy seating, wine on display, and a record player for use. You can order your drinks from a host downstairs and play some music before your dinner. 1000/10 would recommend to anyone.
We tried 2-3 small plates and every item was unique and awesome. Our server, Cara, could not have been more attentive and helpful in suggesting items to try. Every item had a story and the story was worth hearing. I haven't been this excited about a restaurant in a long time.
I ordered the Gem Salad with the $12 steak add-on. Never in my life have a seen such a small portion of steak. It was very good, but when cut up it equated to about 7 bites of food. Not satisfying at all.
Also got the olive appetizer - good size portion and very good taste. BUT the olives all had pits in them. Not that fun to sit in front of others spitting out the pits to the olives.....not very well thought out.
The entree portions were a little small. Three scallops for $24 was disappointing. The flavor and the service were outstanding!
We were told after 45 minutes that they didn’t have anymore pasta left (we ordered 2 dishes but only could make one of them), and told them to bring out the other food since it was taking forever. Another 1/2 hour later we all got our food. Food all came at different times, pasta special (we apparently took the last one) had 10 pieces of pasta for $28, rip-off! Just wish owner was honest from the beginning.
Terrible service and worse yet, ordered a Caesar salad. We were served broccoli rabe and told it was their version of Caesar salad. Within 10 minutes watched the table next to us get a legit Caesar salad. Will not return or recommend.
Tried for the first time. You will never have an empty water glass as the bussers are on top of that. Food wise - small menu to chose from, and didn't find anything that was a wow. if you are looking for a light bite, then check it out. Dining room can get loud, especially with bigger parties.
Beautiful atmosphere. Terrific food. From scratch! Best meal I’ve had in a long time
Loved sitting on the porch live music up the street was great addition! Drinks were good! Very spicy, a little too much I think simple would be better, burratta pizza was too spicy to eat. Maybe I’m just a whimp
This was my second visit to Letty's Tavern. The first visit I got the burger and it was good. This time I got the chicken sandwich. The chicken was extremely thin -- hardly any chicken at all. The side salad that came with it was very good, but $16 for what seemed to be just a few ounces of chicken was definitely not worth it.
We don’t usually rave about chicken, but honestly the chicken at Letty’s was so flavorful! All of the food was delicious and the service was attentive and courteous. Our server knew the menu well and was able to make great recommendations.
So if you hate most of the bland options in Kennett like i do and go to Philly or out of the area for decent food, this is the only place you'll find worth going to. Moved here 10 years ago and this is only the 2nd place I've wanted to come back to, the other closed and I've been looking for a place worth taking out of towners to.
This was my second visit to Letty's and I intentionally made reservations for four at a high top in the bar area due to the noise and in my opinion - a lack of ambiance in the main dining room. Unfortunately when we arrived the hostess informed me there were no high tops available and she had already seated two of our party of four in the main dining room. My husband was told that we should reserve directly on Letty's website to make sure we get the high top seating in the bar area. Our server Chris made up for the less desirable table and we thoroughly enjoyed the craft cocktails, hangar steaks and short rib. If you go, reserve directly on Letty's website and order the OVC - it's good!
Friendly place. Our server Molly was very attentive. Food was fair. Mushroom soup in my opinion had too too much black pepper. Fish & Chips was very bland as if no spices were put on the fish. Batter was bland. The cod fish was too large which results in the fish being slightly undercooked otherwise the batter would be over cooked.
Many of the apps and entrees were sold out with no replacements. When we asked for another glass of wine we were told the waiter had to wait to fill our glasses when they were empty. I guess he could not fill the glasses at the table!
Food was awesome. Interesting take on otherwise boring vegetables such as cucumbers and cauliflower.
KFC was amazing!!!!
Nice restaurant in a beautiful little town. Food and drinks were good. Could use a little work on plating. Excellent, friendly service. We didn't get a chance to visit the Bottle Shop. It looked empty. It's a nice concept...I hope they get this up and running.
Very slow service - kitchen and bar - and the music level was too high. The food was good.
The food is REALLY good!
The food was very good. Pizzas and apps were done just right. My wife had the mushroom soup which she loved, just the right amount of spice, didn't overpower the soup. Only drawback was the kitchen was slow and we were there for 40 minutes before the meal came out. Otherwise great. We will definitely go back...
Difficult to recommend this place though the food tastes good. We waited nearly 90mn before being serviced with our meal. It was difficult to understand as the restaurant was far from being full. My entree was expensive ($28) so I expected a good size plate but got 3 miserable scallops and 4 thin asparagus. I have a light appetite but that really made me starving the whole time. Our entrees came almost cold at our table though the waiter said they plates were hot. The waiter apologized several times saying each time that we should just wait for no more than 3 or 4 minutes. The location is central Kennett Square so a golden location, I would assume. I do not understand how service can be so slow at this price ( for very simple entrees).
Service was a bit slow, some of it due to the waitstaff and some due to the kitchen.
Great spot. Going back for sure.
Awesome experience - highly recommended, great cocktails, service is friendly and professional, food is simple and with great quality !
We really liked our first visit to Letty’s Tavern and plan on coming back. The ambiance is great. The service is top notch. The drinks were good and fairly priced. The food is delicious.
Very good food and service. Entrée portions were small and the dining room was very loud.
