   Le Tour is a beautiful restaurant with a modern vintage vibe and we loved every second of the ambiance on Valentine’s Day. What we weren’t thrilled about was the food. The Prix fixe menu was a tad boring and worse, didn’t taste great. The shining star of the night were the oysters which had an incredibly bright and full-flavored sauce which we both loved. The other option was a tomato/red pepper soup, which to me tasted bitter. For the main course we both ordered the bay scallops, neither of us like lamb or wanted vegetarian. We were disappointed there wasn’t some type of beef. The scallops were fishy!! and the risotto underneath was just straight up not seasoned with much of anything, including lacking salt. The dessert was also disappointing. There were two options, lavender ice cream (which in my opinion, in Feb in cold Chicago is not a great option!) and chocolate cake. The misstep was calling it cake, when it was really a flourless torte, as my expectations were thrown off. It was about 1/4 inch thick and heavy, and had a cold crumble of what seemed like very hard chocolate shavings and something else so crunchy it hurt my teeth. There was a lovely raspberry sauce, although not enough of it for how hard and cold the rest of it was. Overall I left the evening feeling cold like the blizzard outside. I’m sorry to say I wouldn’t return for the food, but would perhaps have drinks at the bar to enjoy the ambiance.

   My wife and I enjoyed an early Valentine dinner. The staff were very friendly and helpful, without rushing us. From the appetizer to the dessert, the food was delicious and showed what care they put into each dish.

   One of us enjoyed the Sunday Supper three-course prix fixe and the other ordered off the menu. We were mostly taken care of by the fantastic hostess as our server had a large party taking his time. Very happy with the dinner and look forward to returning.

   The menu just seems to lack vegetable options and the items ordered were fine. Sesame allergy sufferers should avoid this place because of the widespread tahini use and high cross contamination potential. Restaurant didn’t heed sesame allergy issue from our table, we think they likely erred with providing a tahini based sauce with the frites instead of the normal, causing a reaction and ER visit a couple hours later.

   hello and i am sorry on the delay re getting back to you. there is nothing that we take more seriously than allergies. in fact those of us in this business- at least our team, consider ourselves more in the business of health than hospitality. we spoke the night you were in a couple times. we did not have tahini near the frites, tho i do remember speaking to you about the mezze platter that you also ordered which had sesame in many of the items and that seemed to be fine. i am guessing having that on the table might have been the issue? hopefully all is well.

   LeTour is a gem in Evanston. Amy's restaurants in Evanston add so much to this town. The menu evolves and I'm glad to see the tagine chicken still on the menu.

   The food was only ok. Ordered the onion soup which had cheese, bread and very little soup which came room temperature.

    The service was quite poor and very rushed. Amuse bouche for 2 served on single plate with one spoon(?) - no individual small plates; first course delivered before finished with aperitif and the amuse bouche; silverware removed and not replaced until requested. Desserts very uneven -- had three replacements and what finally came (lemon sorbet) was crammed in a small jar and very icy; did not compare at all to other dessert (chocolate something, which was quite good) in quality or presentation. Check delivered before we had even finished. . . This was a New Year's Eve dinner that was rushed to a finish in about an hour. The server must have had a party to get to. . . The Kale and Spaghetti Squash, though, was quite good -- and the wine parings not bad (although did not arrive with dishes). Price not bad. Le Tour is not a great restaurant by any stretch.
