First time visit, soon back😊 fabulous food and top service, much better than Gordon Ramsay Grill at the Savoy !
Their food is very fresh and delicious. The snails and beef are amazing.🥰
if you want the modern, soleless, metal, what seems to be trendy bar like restaurant, that’s rapid, rushed, hectic with a huge selection on the menu, this isn’t the place for you.
My favourite restaurant in London,
if you want personality, character, culture, atmosphere, with staff that take pride in what they do, making you feel like you’re the only one in the restaurant. This is the place for you, the food is delicious, and you can see the quality with presentation and divine taste. If you haven’t guessed already, this is my favourite restaurant in London. It just has an atmosphere that makes me want to feel sophisticated without the pretentiousness. I love it and highly recommend L’Escargot not only for the food but the entire experience , it’s magical.
I just wanted to take the time to let you know that we had a lovely meal at L’escargot last night.
We booked on line so there is always a sense of trepidation but as soon as we arrived we were welcomed into a warm and friendly environment.
Our waiter was really good and very attentive which is very unusual these days.
The food was great and traditional French food - snails lobster Chateaubriand crème brûlée soufflé - yum!
One of those nice surprises - we will be back
Honestly one of the best meals I’ve ever had
This was our second visit to L'Escargot for pre-theatre dinner, and it didn't disappoint. Very friendly staff, delicious food, and they kindly allowed our son and daughter-in-law who live in London to pop in to say 'hi' and enjoy a mulled wine. We will definitely be back.
We had a nice table and ambience but the meal was overpriced with a limited menu
First time here, the food is exquisite, lobster, beef fillet-absolututely divine. Pianist just added to the enjoyment of the evening , perfect candlelit dinner for two venue
Good if quite pricey good atmosphere and pleasant staff
For an early dinner post matinee this was perfect and the set menu was great value for such nice food.
Lovely family pre theatre lunch. Set menu great value and very tasty (especially Toulouse sausage and lentils).
Creme brûlée a triumph.
The food was very good and the sent menu was good value. The building was very interesting, though in need of some love and care. Though it is nice not to hurried, the service was bit too relaxed.
Extremely poor service which ruined the evening and we left early.
Great service and food. Could have helped pour the wine a little more. Ambience and atmosphere was elegant.
Sadly I was unable to get to the restaurant for my booking before our theatre performance due to tube strike, however my companion did and she was treated extraordinarily well looked after fed well and wasn’t made to feel awkward at all. Well done
We had a lovely visit for my partners birthday. The escargot were amazing and the service was phenomenal. Highly recommend!
The service was impeccable and the food was very good. The round table we sat at in the front space was a little cold due to the air coming in when the front door opened but not too bad. Wine list had reasonably priced bottles and we have a lovely Cote de Rhone.
This has become our favourite place to eat, wonderful choice & high standard of food, great ambiance. A great alternative to all the more modern cuisine, good traditional French flavours. Highly recommend!
The service was very poor. Forgot the drinks order and did not receive a wine
The food was excellent
Service was pretty glum; little ambience at the restaurant, although was late. Felt a bit of a nuisance which doesn't quite create the right mood.
The venison melted in the mouth, can recommend the grand marnier souffle weren't going to have a dessert but the waiter sold it to us so glad he did it was lovely.
The service was great never felt rushed
We had an amazing experience, as always. It is not cheap, but it is great value. A great experience 👌
As one of the oldest restaurants in London, this iconic location was a real treat. Traditional French dishes served with classic French wines - what's not to like? Additionally, large groups of diners mixed easily with romantic couples and pure tourists, which the restaurant managed with ease. A must visit for everyone who enjoys eating out.
Superb food, very reasonably priced, great ambiance and attentive but not intrusive service.
Food and service was great, the noise level was unexpectedly a bit high.
Fantastic food and great service !
Bisque was the best samled for may a day (including France and other foodie Capitals)
Was worried by the previous comments about the service but the person serving us was outsatnding . Knowledgable and some great recommendations
Havent been to L'Escargot for over 10yrs but will return again shortly if it is always this good
Another excellent evening at my favourite table, table 16, the atmosphere, the service, the food as always a delight
Real nice French interior. A very friendly welcome and good service. I started with, yes, Escargots in garlic butter. Very very tasty. My wife opted for the Lobster Salad. A real treat too. Our main was the Chateaubriand, for 2. Prepared ‘seignant’ served with onion and Potatoes Dauphinois. Everything was really prepared deliciously. We drank a Macon with this. Very nice.. the ambiance was fantastic, with live piano music. We will return.
All the food and drink was magnificent. Yes it’s pricey but you know that when you book. Perfect for an extra special occasion. We had the chateaubriand and it was perfect.
Excellent food and atmosphere. The menu of the day was great value. Table layout is very comfortable. The Bar was a bit pressured form time to time but it did not spoil the experience.
A fantastic lunch! We eat regularly at L’escargot Sur Mer so it was fabulous to visit the London restaurant, a favourite of my husband years ago. My starter of fricasse of snails was probably the most delicious dish I have ever tasted! Praise indeed. Thank you so much.
A perfect evening to celebrate our friends 60th. A wonderful restaurant in an old house in Greek Street. Easy to find. Tastefully decorated and cosy, so good for romance as well as socialising with family or friends. Unable to get a table until 9.30 so not terribly hungry as a tad too late. Opted for the lobster which was cooked to perfection. Served with a small salad so required extra sides (fries and more salad). All tasted beautiful. The pear tart to follow was also exquisite. Service faultless. The waitress knew all about the food and wine and answered lots of questions knowledgeable. The atmosphere was noisy but not loud so comfortable to talk to friends without having to shout. The pianist who played throughout our stay completed to a fabulous evening out. Would definitely be back.
The food was not great not bad about what was to be expected at this level of restaurant. The service was certainly not up to scratch. From the knife to cut my steak being blunt to not once pouring the wine we ordered to forgetting the bread which we ordered. The service was not rude but just a nice set of people not doing a good job.
Excellent food, great staff, lovely atmosphere. Live piano player who took a request, can't recommend this place highly enough
Just a fantastic evening at the restaurant. The service and food were excellent. Worth every penny.
As always L'secargot retains its high standards.
The menu is a little limited though.
This is still one of my favourite restaurants in London
Lovely place. Staff were delightful. Decor and ambience adorable and distinctive. It is dog friendly - what a wonderful place to be privileged to bring our dog! We had a lovely evening and will hopefully return again. Many thanks.
Despite our unavoidably late lunch booking we were treated with utmost care and attention and had a most wonderful lunch in the unbeatable ambience of this place . Beautiful food and very reasonably priced and excellent service. Thank you l'escargot !
