About this restaurant

L’Escargot Bleu offers classic, traditional French food, using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. The restaurant is conveniently located in Edinburgh’s New Town at 56 Broughton Street and within 10 minutes' walking distance of Waverley station. L’Escargot is also easily reached by car, bus or taxi and accepts advance party bookings. Inside, the restaurant is decorated in a style that is typical of similar establishments all over France, with bare white walls relieved by bright posters. This is classic French cooking at is best and the steak tartare is a favourite. The restaurant is open for lunch from noon-2.30 pm Monday to Thursday and 3pm on Fridays and Saturdays and for dinner from 5.30pm-10pm Mon-Thurs and until 10.30 Fri-Sat. The restaurant is closed on Sundays except during the Edinburgh Festival in August.

    I took some friends to L'Escargot Bleu in Edinburgh. The meal was lovely and we all had a great time. It was difficult to choose our menu as everything sounded delicious. We all had the mussels as a starter which were steamed in a Rose wine... Mmmm just wonderful.

    L'Escargot Bleu (Edinburgh): excellent fresh scallops, beautifully grilled; rich venison casserole; quality local game and beef. A great local bistro.

    L'Escargot Bleu is a lovely piece of Paris in the middle of Edinburgh. The food was great! and I paid a visit to their basement shop. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys french cuisine.

    Very enjoyable. Busy restaurant with great atmosphere. Very engaged proprietor and good service. We also enjoyed our meal and the bottle of house wine!

    Edinburgh's L'Escargot Bleu was as good as remembered. Late on a Monday evening a real "bistro buzz" about the place. Prompt service. The "special" of Venison slowly cooked in a rich red wine sauce was delicious and filling. The moderately priced wine list made choosing difficult - a Cote de Rhone fitted the bill nicely. Good coffee as usual. Well worth trying this place.
