L'Escale Ratings and Reviews
Lovely dinner in a French Country style dining room just in front of the fireplace could not have been more cozy on a Winter's evening. Wait staff service is very prompt and professional. Front desk staff is a little inexperienced. Food was very good. We enjoyed the burrata special to start which was plenty for two, and the bouillabaisse was also good. It's a little pricey but not out of line for the quality and ambiance.
always a pleasure to dine here, we enjoyed the January fixed menu special, great food; service can be counted on to be professional yet outgoing, and the room is one of the prettier ones in the area; try to get a table in front of the fireplace, very nice in winter.
We had a fantastic meal here for a birthday celebration on the 13th of January. A three course prix-fixe menu, special for the month of January, was available, as well as the regular menu. The food is quite satisfactory, ambiance is lovely ( as the restaurant overlooks the Long Island Sound), and the service is friendly and quick. Nice place for brunch/lunch.
Lovely atmosphere with low lighting, fireplace, candleopera in middle of room. Experienced and professional staff but not stuffy. Great wine suggestions for a menu that is epicurean but not over the top. Loved the staff even though they had been working hard through holiday and still had a sense of humor!Had a memorable meal with my niece for our holiday celebration. Best thing is you just go up to your comfy room after dinner!
So disappointed! A lovely restaurant but the service just ruined it for us all. We had to get the attention of someone to get a drink. Our waiter was more like a bussboy with very little discussion. We had to send the salmon back and my Med rare steak was overdone. No adjustment was offered or extra dessert. We ordered 2 desserts for 4 people and still no offering to comp or add 2 more. Just poor management. We were given a coupon for $$ off for the next time. There won’t be one!
We’ve dined at L’Escale many times. Our last dinner was a disappointment because of slow and unresponsive service. We had to ask five times for more bread, which came too late to have with the salad course. Service from the Sommelier was very slow. The food, as always, was very good.
There was a loud party in the next room so there was a thumping disco beat during our entire meal. Not good. We couldn’t wait to get out of there! I realize the party was for an animal charity which is great- but not great for dining within earshot. The food was fine but perhaps I would have enjoyed it more if not for the constant thumping. I would recommend inquiring about any parties before dining here. The service was very good.
This was our second experience at L'Espace. Both were excellent. The first was in the summer; we dined outside overlooking the harbor. The 2nd was in late autumn; we dined inside.
The service is excellent, the staff are wonderful, and the food and wine were excellent. It was busy in the bar and quiet in the restaurant. We will certainly visit again!
