L'Escale Ratings and Reviews
There was a loud party in the next room so there was a thumping disco beat during our entire meal. Not good. We couldn’t wait to get out of there! I realize the party was for an animal charity which is great- but not great for dining within earshot. The food was fine but perhaps I would have enjoyed it more if not for the constant thumping. I would recommend inquiring about any parties before dining here. The service was very good.
This was our second experience at L'Espace. Both were excellent. The first was in the summer; we dined outside overlooking the harbor. The 2nd was in late autumn; we dined inside.
The service is excellent, the staff are wonderful, and the food and wine were excellent. It was busy in the bar and quiet in the restaurant. We will certainly visit again!
I was so impressed by the attentiveness of the all the wait staffs, the food was great and the ambiance was so romantic especially for couples, business dinners and special occasions. I didn’t take a picture of the fireplace and built-in cabinets, I find it so beautiful and old-fashioned. Thank you for the special night we promise to be back sometime soon.
Awesome dining experience. We went for Restaurant Week to try it out for the first time, and we loved it. Everything was perfect: gracious and attentive service, amazing food (best steak frites we've ever had in CT,) spacious surroundings, and a lively, warm, welcoming atmosphere. We will return!
great restaurant week value, loved the mushroom soup and the hangar steak with fries; dessert included too; by the time we left, the room was full on a Friday night, but we were still able to have a conversation without a deafening noise; polite and efficient service too.
Although I have eaten at L'Escale only at lunchtime, I have had lunch here quite frequently and I find everything about it attractive and appealing. The menu is suitably varied for the salad-eating ladies and the meat-eating businessmen; the food is always delicious and nicely presented; and the service is excellent. During the day the restaurant is bright and airy, and I imagine that in the evening the French atmosphere becomes even more authentic and possibly even seductive. L'Escale is a great favorite among discriminating locals, who love the food and ambiance, but who also appreciate the valet parking.
An elegant restaurant on the waterfront in Greenwich, across from the Bruce Museum. The mussels and smoked salmon lunches were very good. The dessert was lovely. I felt a bit underdressed at lunch. I would recommend dressing up, not down. Pearls are almost mandatory. Our corner table in the window was perfect. Our neighbors were entertaining to listen to while they embraced and discussed ultra-conservative politics. My only complaint is that it is over-priced. $23 for a smoked salmon sandwich was not a value.
Not only did we have a lovely dinner and time as usual bu the people at the table next to us were just the nicest people anyone could ever meet. We were sitting outside enjoying the weather and scene as were they. The conversation that ensued let us all to agree to meet again!
Views are beautiful, food is OK.
We went out during the week so it wasn't a busy night but the Hostess kept trying to sit us in the empty dining room while everyone was seated outside. Finally we had to specifically ask her which table we wanted outside and she had to check with her manager to get the approval. There was about 6 other empty tables outside all night.
Talk about a lovely dining experience! Everything was amazing from the Staff to the food. I made a special request to have my wine and Presseco pre-poured and stationed upon my arrival and they truly honored it. The server, George was spot on with all of his recommendations! If you want to enjoy a nice date and have a great experience go go go!
We love outdoor seating versus indoor. The main dining room is a bit formulaic but the waterfront tables are chic. Feels like two different restaurants entirely. Some of the staff are great and others are a bitter scattered. The manager was perfect he stopped by and offered all four of us a glass of champagne due to overbilling - which was immediately and graciously corrected. Overall, we love L'Escale. Can be a bit noisy if you don't mind. The crowd spontaneously changes and can shift wildly from groups of quiet diners to a large birthday gathering and/or girls or boys night out at a nearby table.
