Les Halles was closed when we arrived. Literally shut down. We stopped some cops nearby and said they had completely cleared out the place the night before. I wish the restaurant would have had the decency to give the customers a heads up.

Very good experience, very good food. Four of us went early Friday evening, my wife wanting to try it because of the historic connection to Anthony Bourdain. Not too crowded, but not deserted Good ambience; nice faux early 20th century wood decor. Managed to get some happy hour drinks right at the end of HH. Service was prompt and attentive. Food was very good, we had steak, duck, pork and seafood ravioli. All were well-prepared with high quality ingredients, and served fresh and hot. Creme Brulee for dessert was also very good Overall, one of the better bistros I have been to in the US. Nothing out of this world, but a very good performance.

The food was terrible. I sent back the lamb which was a plate of fat and tendon. The duck was dry. Some of the worst food I have had in a while. Server was MIA. Last time.

Slow service, an hour for food to arrive. Over priced wine and mediocre at that. But the worst part is the noise level. I've been to this place 3 times and it gets worse each time so this is my last visit. Suggestion , ask intoxicated patrons to leave or shut up at least and learn how to make sauces.

i have wanted to go here for a long time and while we were in nyc we decided to try was pretty good actually..the steak was cooked to perfection and the scallops were ok, only i would go back overall..

We did Les Halles in the previous location and it was always a good experience. Now, we can not even compare them. Beside the name, they have nothing in common. Avoid this place at all cost.

I have known about Les Halles for years, but living in New Zealand, and travelling in Europe most years, have never managed a visit until this last week. Walking past the Restraunt a few times during the week before I booked, it looked dead, but having wanted to eat here for years I made a booking anyway. I was nervous about the decision. I didn't want a disappointment. I
love simple French bistro food. I love a good steak frites that hasn't been fkt up. But something didn't feel right from passing by. On arrival the place was half empty at 7:30 pm on a Wednesday night. Needn't have booked. The food was v good. Steak well seasoned and cooked a perfect medium rare. A bit tough, but well cooked. Nice simple wine list with some good wines. Nice simple menu. But everything just seemed jaded and tired. No atmosphere. No fizz. Our
waitress was ambivalent at best. At best. The kitchen staff who assisted serving seemed like they hadn't slept for at least 72 hours. Everyone was pleasant, but there seemed to be an overall lack of momentum or direction. No buzz.

I'm glad I went. I love to cook simple French grub at home. I've learnt a lot about cooking from ex chef Bourdain. I not embarrassed to admit I have a les Halles cook book and I have admired Bourdain since the early days and when I found out he liked the stooges and QOTSA. I wanted to feel a little of the magic atmosphere busy well run kitchens generate out front. Sadly, there was none of the magic. Just an air of doom or trauma. Tony might want to look at whether something can be done - seems sad to see an institution seemingly floundering.

This guy needs to stop traveling around the world and spend some time at his restaurant. Waiter - rude, manager - rude, food - horrible, drinks - over priced and under poured. Worst experience by far of all the restaurants we tried in NYC. My suggestion - go ahead and close it, stop wasting everybody's time.

Attentive service. Good understanding of gluten free needs. Salmon was absolutely delicious. Able to have a conversation because the noise level was reasonable. Overall, a fabulous meal. Will definitely return.

If this is an Anthony Bourdain restaurant, then he needs to come back for a visit.
The food was "okay", but not great French cuisine.
I was served the wrong cut of meat, after specifically discussing this with my server.
The Frites, which everyone raves about, tasted like they were cooked in old oil. They just didn't taste as nice as I'd expect, or as nice as I've had in many other more casual and less pricey & reputed French restaurants around the world (including France). Underwhelmed. Pedestrian.

Got quiet table in the front of restaurant, near entrance, away from main dining and large group of 14, which may have been noisy. Unfortunately, wait staff forgot about us a bit and we had to hail or call specifically. Overall, Les Halles is still a neighborhood favorite and food is good.

I have never been so humiliated in my life... the restaurant was closed for the weekend and I did not get any notification neither from Open Table nor from the restaurant. I will never use Open Table for any reservations ever again.

The food was mediocre, the atmosphere a little shabby and disorganized. We were there for dinner; it may work much better for lunch, which in that neighborhood is probably a busier time.

I used to be a fan of Les Halles --- no more. Had midday lunch, and the service was abysmal, beginning with the disengaged host and continuing to the absolutely terrible table service. Can no longer recommend Les Hales and unlikely to dine here again.

Business lunch for 2 at Les Halles May 3. When I worked downtown, I went to Les Halles often and thoroughly enjoyed the food, ambiance, service and value. I relocated to midtown 2 years ago but was happy to return. With some regret I must say that Les Halles is not what it was. The menu has changed and prices have risen drastically without an increase in quality. Moules frites are now only offered with a choice of 3 sauces, down from 7 or 8 previously (no more billi bi which was sublime). The bread, which used to be baguette crusty, is now soft and supermarkety. My glass of rose was nothing to write home about. The decor needs a freshening or at least a fresh coat of paint. The good: the Salade d'Auvergne is as good as ever and my Grilled Trout was excellent. Not so good: coffee, which used to be served alongside a French press, was just a sad little cup. Chocolate mousse was delicious. I noticed that the staff has completely turned over, the staff was friendly and attentive but I missed the hostess who was an asset. Les Halles 2 years ago was jammed at lunch with an exciting buzz, not so this week. It feels like the end is near. I hope they get their act together. For now, for the money, there are better choices downtown.

A disappointing evening. Beer selection was poor, wine selection over priced and poor quality for a $12 Chardonnay. Hangar steak was mediocre, frites were good, salad was limp.

First time at the downtown location but have enjoyed the Park Ave location on many occasions over the years. This was a really disappointing meal. Poor service and mediocre steaks. Two out of three of us were sick post-meal. Last time I will dine at Les Halles
